Rooting a phone is there anywhere in Southampton?

Got an Orange San Francisco, unlocked it for GiffGaff (easy) ported phone number (easy) now just need to get rid of all the Qrange rubbish! theres a guide and custom rom over on Modaco but it looks beyond my (extremely limited) capabilities!

Anyone know of somewhere i can get this done? tried UR Mobile and thats the place where the mobile shop by Asda take theirs and they dont have much of a clue as the San Fran is quite new :-(

Rooting is gaining root access to the phone (since Android is built on Linux), and taking advantage of the benefits this provides. One of the benefits is the ability to replace the Android ROM, which will probably have customised vendor features such as branding on the web browser or whatever. Debranding and flashing isn't rooting, it's just the most common thing that happens, or one of the reasons, that people root.

Phoned just about every phone shop in Southampton, all a bunch of wusses scared of bricking my phone, even though i said i would take the responsibility and sign a waiver! grrrrrr

tried to root the phone myself its harder than i thought but i need to get orange apps of so i can enjoy all the freeebies android offer.

unlocking it was so easy.

Did it myself in the end, hard to comprehend but boy was it worth it! phone now twice as fast now all the Orange rubbish is gone, Android 2.1 on a nice handset for less than £80!
