Ressies V The Nike Academy?

Doesn't that also describe the Glenn Hoddle Academy?

Any co-incidence?

Interesting report on Glen Hoddle's Academy

But this season is different. Hoddle helped rescue Jerez. They were about to fold in July, when the former Spurs and Chelsea boss offered to provide a 22-man squad from his academy free of charge, ready for league action.

And six games into the season, the Brits of Jerez Industrial are fifth in the league, with promotion the aim.

What is the point of ditching a reserve team for an under 21 side when players like Wotton are playing, surely defeating the object of it. The Nike academy does have some talented players but surely our more experienced players would benefit more when coming back from injury etc by playing against similar players from other clubs.

I think that's the whole problem; the reserve league has descended to such a level that we were playing against the likes of Forest Green Rovers reserves side, so not really that far removed from what we have now.

The idea of this new approach is that we can potentially be more flexible about the types of opposition we set up to play by setting up friendly games to fit in with our own schedule. It's a good idea in theory, but if in practise it means that we can only get access to games against the Nike Academy and such like, then I agree with you that it's a bit pointless.
