Guly's in the basement

Mixing up the medicine

I'm on the pavement

Thinking about the government

The man in the trench coat

Badge out, laid off

Says he's got a bad cough

Wants to get it paid off

Look out kid

It's somethin' you did

God knows when

But you're doin' it again

You better duck down the alley way

Lookin' for a new friend

The man in the coon-skip cap

In the big pen

Wants eleven dollar bills

You only got ten.

Maggie comes fleet foot

Face full of black soot

Talkin' that the heat put

Plants in the bed but

The phone's tapped anyway

Maggie says that many say

They must bust in early May

Orders from the DA

Look out kid

Don't matter what you did

Walk on your tip toes

Don't try, 'No Doz'

Better stay away from those

That carry around a fire hose

Keep a clean nose

Watch the plain clothes

You don't need a weather man

To know which way the wind blows.

Get sick, get well

Hang around an ink well

Ring bell, hard to tell

If anything is goin' to sell

Try hard, get barred

Get back, write Braille

Get jailed, jump bail Join the army, if you failed

Look out kid

You're gonna get hit

But losers, cheaters

Six-time users

Hang around the theaters

Girl by the whirlpool

Lookin' for a new fool

Don't follow leaders

Watch the parkin' meters.

Ah get born, keep warm

Short pants, romance, learn to dance

Get dressed, get blessed

Try to be a success

Please her, please him, buy gifts

Don't steal, don't lift

Twenty years of schoolin'

And they put you on the day shift

Look out kid

They keep it all hid

Better jump down a manhole

Light yourself a candle

Don't wear sandals

Try to avoid the scandals

Don't wanna be a bum

You better chew gum

The pump don't work

'Cause the vandals took the handles.

GIIIIINGG GAAAANG GOOLIE GOOLIE GOOLIE WATCHA GING GAN GOO GING GANG GOO...

"Guly, Guly, Guly, Guly...aaahhhhhh. Do ya Do ya Do ya......aaahhhhhh... wana wana score a goal!"

Its to the tune of "Ruby Ruby Ruby" by The Kaizer Chiefs; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VEfqozzL5uc.

Its easy to pick up and remember, and its good!

FWIW, I agree with both the original poster and Macey. Before I even read this thread, just seeing the thread title, those were the two that came to my mind - both simple to remember and sing and if an effort were made to promote one of these (or both) I am sure they would soon catch on.

However, rarely does anything genuinely different make it to the terraces. We just keep rehashing the same old songs ad infinitum! If the truth be known, those songs that are used are the ones that a determined group of fans promote. Usually the type of fans that do this are the ones with lower than normal levels of self-consciousness!

thoughts?

****. Any songs mentioning Don Cortese and not referring to him being an utter **** are out out of order.

How about

Nicola cortese went to rome to see the pope

Nicola cortese went to rome to see the pope

Nicola cortese went to rome to see the pope

and this is what he said......

I love boys and so do you

I love boys and so do you

I love boys and so do you

and the saints go marching on on on.

Not true I'm afraid, said songsheet was deffo being distributed outside the ground at Swindon away last season.

Quite right.

I was handed one at the same game.

And I heard it being sung, and I'm sure it was sung at Charlton too.

There's more than one pub in Swindon as well, are you referring to the one in Southampton Street with the car park ? I was there for about 90 minutes and didn't hear it there either, and it was rammed with Saints fans.

Can't remember what it was called, near the chip shop and the magic roundabout.

It was full of Saints fans and had a large beer garden/car park, lots of fans were singing it outside, not sure if this was the pub you were at?

In recognition of our very own Chas Miller teaching those south Americans how to play the game in the first place...to 'Camptown Races'...

We gave football to Brazil,

Doo-da, doo-da,
