Professor Posted 10 October, 2010 Posted 10 October, 2010 ....for automatic promotion. Some rocks along the way, and the first one is Huddersfield, but an away win next week ............ Are we all optimistic again, or will we be dumped back into the gloom if we don't get three points every week for a while at least.

Still one of the toughest games of the season but we can get a result.
bender Posted 10 October, 2010 Posted 10 October, 2010 4 points off automatic compared to where we were a few weeks ago. This div is so compact. Will be 2nd at least by Nov.
NickG Posted 10 October, 2010 Posted 10 October, 2010 win every game in October and I will start getting confident!
NorthamSteve Posted 10 October, 2010 Posted 10 October, 2010 I think Huddersfield away will be the hardest game this season. It's going to be a benchmark for our season.

Whilst true, had you looked in your rear view mirror you would have also noted that we are only 5 off the drop zone as well...! This league is so compacted now that anybody who puts togeather a decent run can quickly climb the table. Conversely, lose a few and you could end up sliding dramatically. Sheffield Wednesday scored 1 goal yesterday and that was enough to take them from something like 14th to 5th. I don't want to put a damper on things, but let's not count our chickens just yet eh, big games coming up and we need to say on a roll.
COMEONYOUREDS Posted 10 October, 2010 Posted 10 October, 2010 After 11 games last season, we were bottom with 2 points, 25 behind Leeds, 22 behind Charlton in 2nd and 16 behind Swindon in 6th. Long way to go yet but if we carry on playing like we have over the past few games we will win this division.
Legod Third Coming Posted 10 October, 2010 Posted 10 October, 2010 After 11 games last season, we were bottom with 2 points, 25 behind Leeds, 22 behind Charlton in 2nd and 16 behind Swindon in 6th. Long way to go yet but if we carry on playing like we have over the past few games we will win this division. And so we should. Seriously, with our resources, anything but winning this division would be a huge under-achievement. We were 2/1 to win the league and 10/11 for promotion before a ball was kicked. And for good reason. We are the Real Madrid of League One. For periods yesterday we looked like it too. NOW we have to start thinking like it and showing it every week.
MarkSFC Posted 10 October, 2010 Posted 10 October, 2010 I think Huddersfield away will be the hardest game this season. It's going to be a benchmark for our season. Definitely the toughest game of the season but not a benchmark game for the season. Regardless of result I am 100% certain we will be fighting Huddersfield for top spot before winning by some margin!! Think we will win next weekend though despite their win yesterday as their form hasn't been great.
North Wilts Saint Posted 10 October, 2010 Posted 10 October, 2010 If we continue on good run through October I note we have the current top three over ten days in November (Carlisle away, Peterborough home and Brighton home)
The Cat Posted 10 October, 2010 Posted 10 October, 2010 A draw on Saturday would be fine, a win would be fantastic. After Huddersfield it's definitely not beyond the realms of possibility that we will win every game up until Xmas.
red&white56 Posted 10 October, 2010 Posted 10 October, 2010 If we want to get automatic promotion then we have to play the top team and either get a result. If we play with the confidence we showed yesterday then I look forward to the game with an expectation of a result.
Lighthouse Posted 10 October, 2010 Posted 10 October, 2010 This squad (plus or minus a couple) has won at Hillsborough and Carrow Road in the last year or so, not to mention putting 5 past Huddersfield, Rovers and Walsall last year. We are capable of getting a win anywhere and if we play to our potential we will beat Huddersfield.
CitySaint Posted 10 October, 2010 Posted 10 October, 2010 I think we will beat huddersfield the way we are playing. (On a personal note, have a ticket but can not find transport, travel club sold out seemingly, trains are ridiculous and normal lift has bailed, anyone able to help will pay good wedge for a lift?!)
