Sounds like NA might be aiming to get another player in before the weekend (heavy hints on Saintsplayer vid). This of course means that we have an exciting Friday guessing who might be coming in. We've sorted midfield, so my guess is a striker to replace Barney.

Patrick Agyemang please. The ideal back-up 'lump' striker to put some pressure on Lambert

yep, because an international player warming the bench for the team top of the Championship is going to be delighted to drop down a divison and do the same for a midtable L1 side. You lot are obsessed with "cover" & "back up", why dont you actually think about bringing in players as good as or better than what we have to improve the side not just bloat the squad.

Hardly an 'international' striker is he? Perhaps in the same way that Doble is an international striker.

It would hardly be bloating the squad would it? Did it escape your attention that we finished the game against Bournemouth with no strikers on the pitch?

If we bought in someone like Agyemeng (who was playing against the saints development squad this week...hardly international football). It would give us options, and enable Adkins to drop Lambert if his performances carry on at the level they currently are

I think you'll find he has played 4 times for Ghana, so hardly Ryan Doble.

Agyemang, in fact no player worth their salt, will drop down a league to sit on the bench. It's simple really, why leave a club top of the league above to join a team the league below and do exactly the same thing? It makes no sense, if he did come here it wouldn't be as "cover" or "back up", i dont see why this concept is so difficult for people to grasp.

Hmmm, perhaps I was wrong to use the word back-up. I should have said bring him in as a genuine challenger for Lambert's place in the side, much like Ryan Dickson is for Harding.

The fact is we need something to spark Rickie into action, and genuine competition for his place in the starting XI could well be it.

MB - where have you seen this? Personally I see no reason why he shouldn't but I'm sure others will disagree.

If people can play with broken cheekbones and wrists protected by surgical masks or lightweight casts then I am sure that someone with "serious hand injuries" caused by broken glass could play with suitable protection. It's not that Barnard is likely to be using his hands in any way other than to pull an opponent's shirt.

Remember Cliff Marcelino? The Newcastle centre half that missed 3 months with a broken finger??! LOLZ!!
