So people still want to rubbbish Pulis, despite most of them never having seen him play. He goes on loan and scores in his firstgame but even that has to be put down.

 

Fact is that SFC had him on a 2-yr contract with an option for a 3rd year and have taken up the option. That suggests that the professionals who work for the club may know something that the average fan doesn't know.

 

Good luck to him, and its time to get off his back.

 

Haha, it's hilarious you still think he's actually pretty good...YOU obviously haven't seen him play!

 

Scoring on his debut makes him sound like a great signing, it's actually 1 goal in 7 years as a 'professional' footballer. Torquay fans i believe voted him as their worst ever loan signing.

 

Oh and his goal was really nothing special

Professor, are you taking the ****? Really? I'm a very supportive person, but when I read the crap you write, compared with what we know about Pulis it's very easy for me to get cynical; more about you than Pulis,.. and that should really worry you!

I'm told that the goal was the only thing he did on Saturday as overall he was poor along with the rest of the side. It constituted his first and only completed pass or shot of the game. I wasn't there so I am only passing it on.

We are paying his wages by the way.

I went to the Stockport vs Gillingham with an open mind on Pulis but he was slow and ponderous in possession and struggled to get in the game. He should have received a straight red card for a horrible hack from behind but was probably saved by the ref having been only on the pitch for a few minutes having replaced the previous ref who was injured. He did score with a good finish but I would have backed myself to score in that position! Hope he manages to make a career for himself at League 2 level and get to play more games than he has so far but this will not happen with Southampton.

You are joking? If the professionals rated him, he'd have played for the first team by now. 17 first team appearances anywhere in 8 years is it? He's only in pro football because of his Dad.

 

Of course I do have to say I've never seen him play a bad game. (Mind you I've never seen him play a good one either)

Stockport won their first home match since forever last saturday apparenty Mr Pullis played quite well :scared: taken from the Stockport message board

 

Liked the look of Pulis too, today he was how we have wanted Tansey to be all season.

 

Man of the match could have been anyone out of: Glennon, Lynch, Williams, Turnbull, Pulis, Donnelley, or Fletcher in my opinion.

Must have been one hell of a performance hey. Mind you this was the first win since feb so they might be getting carried away. Maybe young Pullis has found his level two games in he's scored a goal and could have been MOM thats more than he's achieved in two years with us.

I HAVE seen him play, and he's fudgeking garbage. I've never seen a player drift around the centre of midfield getting out of the way of the ball so effectively. I've also seen him be terrible at right back (Jamie Hatch who got released a while back was three times the right back he is). If you look to the edge of the screen for the goal Stockport conceded from a corner, you can see Pulis not tracking the goalscorer as well.

 

His uncle Ray played at Gwent County level and had a cup of tea at Southern League regional level for Newport in the early 90s, and that's about Anthony's level. I will be appalled if Newport County make the mistake of signing him, which unfortunately looks feasible next season given their current status high up in the Conference and the Pulis family's long time hometown.

Well stockport had 70% of the possession and far more shots on goal. Just goes to show what happens when you have a mid-field general like Pulis running the show from the middle of the pitch I suppose

I heard that the third year option was at the players discretion.

 

If this is true then another strange deal Mr Lowe dreamt up for us.

 

Not sure how the Andrew Davies deal benefited us but Pulis must be on around £3k per week = £450k over the term of his contract!!

Both players being allowed to play in FA Cup for County. Probably sensible but does indicate (as if proof were needed) that Pulis has no future at Saints. Clearly not planning on relying on him if we progress in the Cup. However, does beg the question why on earth we renewed his contract for this season ...

Pretty much as you'd expect really. If Pulis is getting into Stockport's team he must be better than their other players. And if Pulis is one of your better players, even in a League Two side, then god help you...

 

Anyway, enough from me - wouldn't want the Prof to miss his cue! :D

honestly what is the point of going on all the time about the poor bloke. He's got a loan period for 3 months now, he's getting a game, we should just leave him be.I notice we don't go on and on and on about some of the players who are in the "development squad" who'll never get a first team game in a month of Sundays either.

Kind of agree with you here, with any luck he'll have made a decent enough impression and can go on and actually do something with his career rather than waste away with us.

 

However he is going to be 27 next year so a little unfair to compare him to the development squad!

Pulis IS Krap, and his only development will to be to become better quality Krap

I think the reason he gets so much stick is that he is clearly only in professional football because his father gave him contracts at the clubs he managed, and then he was effectively dumped on us, reputedly as part of some obscure behind-the-scenes deal, leaving us to pay him more for basically doing nothing than most Saints fans could hope ever to earn, and clearly more than he is worth. I mean, for God's sake he is about 27 yet only has a grand total of about 27 league games for his entire career!

 

I sincerely hope, if only for the sake of his self-respect, that he finally makes a career of sorts at Stockport, but I do wonder if they'll keep him on if/when they have to pay all his wages.
