Agreed, would be great to see Chamberlain playing through the middle running into space. He would cause far more problems there than out wide IMO.

Could also be good to see gully as an attacking midfield after 60 mins or something.

yeah agree with that think his pace would cause most CBs in this division problems.

I love the strength in depth we have defensively. That's something really positive about Pardew's reign.

I agree. If we can retain our current crop of defenders there is no reason they cant be good enough in the Championship IMO. Hopefully Chaplow can regain his form and then that gives us much more depth in Midfield. Just need to sort out the right wing and strikers.

This is a pointless argument anyway, as he won't play Saturday.

He will play. If he's been disciplined internally we'll never know and quite right too. Nor has he been found guilty of any offence. We don't even know if he's been charged. So why don't we stop the idle speculation based on a friend of a friend saying he heard someone say they know someone who was there just after it happened and people were saying stuff so it must be true.

Wouldn't mind seeing Jaidi bought back in for this in place of Seaborne. Nothing against the lad, and he's done well since he came back in but Tranmere have a bit of a monster up front in the shape of Enoch Showunmi, he's had a pretty good start to the season too.

i'm going for a 4-5-1 formation which when we are attacking turns into a 4-2-4 with the wingers and 'the hole' midfielder. Bignalls signing makes me think LB won't be involved and/or connolly isn't anywhere near match fitness yet.

Would be good to see richardson get on the pitch, and I wouldn't change the CB pairing, no-matter how big of a lump up front they have, Fonte and Seabourne (the latter especially) against bornmuff were immense.

hopefully chaplow will do well, he certainly did in his first stint here.

would possibly play him in the 'hole' behind lambert and move Dickson into cm, in the Gareth Barry role.

my team would be:

----------Davis------------

Butts--Fonte-Seabourne--Harding

Puncheon-Hammond-Dickson-Lallana

------------Chaplow--------------

------------Lambert-------------

Am currently undecided on 2-0 or 3-0

COYR!

It's easy to see a win here, but I'm still not confident of the fluidity of our attacking play. We've improved under Adkins, that's plain to see, but beat Bournemouth with two set pieces. In the prediction league, I went with a nil nil, but i'll go with my heart tomorrow and say 2-0.

Nah. Will need to replace Jaidi next year.

That's what i'd play! Reckon we'll see Oxo up front today, Pardew played him there a few times this season and last, his pace can scare defenders and he seems to have pretty good tekkers too.

3-0 to the mighty Saints imo! COYR!

Pardew played Ox-C for 4 mins as sub for Lambert in one game and few in one other game - played wide both times I thought - only for matter of minutes in total

He played a few times last season 'in the hole' I thought. He definitely played up front this season a few times. Didn't he score playing up front?

sorry was posting while doing something else - didn't mean to come across rude.

He didn't really figure last season of note, when starting think he was used on wing this year but some of Pardew's formations were bit hard to place! Certainly did come inside and not a bad suggestion

You didn't come across as rude - don't worry Nick! He has been started on the wing a lot, I think he's slightly wasted out there. Would like to see him playing more centrally to see how it works out, although there was a poster on here saying that he's being played out wide to 'protect him'. Fair enough I suppose, League One is pretty rough!

Come on Saints - keep the momentum going. I would take a 1-0. Don't give a rats about the performance, just the result. It's all that matters right now as we try to scrap our way back to a stable position in mid table from which to push on. The pretty stuff can come later.

I get very worried when I read that they are a poor team and are struggling to find 4 fit defenders .... usually means only one thing

Barney and Bignall should put up a good fight ...etc.etc .
