It tried to be a trendy bar but that never seemed to work for it, so it turned into a complete ****-pit. Which seems to work pretty well for it.

I'm surprised by that, because Sot'on centre was not like that in my day. Of course you could find trouble if you looked for it, but not did i get smacked and on many occassion i probably deserved to. Unless of course you count getting smacked on the botty by juliet bravo - now that was worth a wvnk.

It is right next to the Solent Uni building though tbf. Jesters is an infinitely better bar, and a lot cheaper too.

was it Centros? that used to be a great place. I remember seeing Hassan Kachloul in there one night, used start there, or Lizard Lounge, and then onto the Rhino.

i had a saturday night in there upstairs (week before barnard), smoking sheesha pipes and watching the talent in our reserved area.

 

it was very busy late on but id say as mix of locals but also students as well, didnt see any trouble and drinks are 2 for 1 before 11 so worth getting them in.

Never been in there myself, although I used to go to Goblets a lot.

 

It does have one other claim to fame, it's the place where that foxy Russian Spy met the student in Southampton that she was banging for a while.

Loved Goblets ....still do in fact, one of the few places left in Southampton with any character! Bogarts was upstairs, pretty cool hangout in its day, Bogarts, Goblets then Painted Wagon was always a good night!
