Smirking_Saint Posted 4 October, 2010 Share Posted 4 October, 2010 (edited) You think the sqaure baloon is good though. No i don't, its a hole that takes 45 mins to get served in. Whats the point in having a sqaure bar and only have 2 bar men ??? Sorry hold on I apologise about the outburst in regards to the christmas adverts. But seriously, i mean, October ? bridge too far Posted 4 October, 2010 Share Posted 4 October, 2010 I once went to a very posh restaurant in London called the White House. The Maitre D' had to lend my partner a tie before we could go in.
Rebel Posted 4 October, 2010 Share Posted 4 October, 2010 It used to be a bank along time ago - a Midland Bank I believe. Wasn't it Bar Centro after that?

benjii Posted 4 October, 2010 Share Posted 4 October, 2010 It was indeed called Bar Centro and before that I think it was called something else... Polar? It tried to be a trendy bar but that never seemed to work for it, so it turned into a complete ****-pit. Which seems to work pretty well for it. benjii Posted 4 October, 2010 Share Posted 4 October, 2010 Being a ****-pit is sometimes a quality to be commended in a bar. I quite agree. Unfortunately, not this one IMO. Incidentally, the stone that The White House in Washington DC is made from was quarried on the island of Brac, just off the coast of Split, Croatia. Split is also the home of the only ever Wimbledon wild-card winner, Goran Ivanicevic. No ****.

for_heaven's_Saint Posted 5 October, 2010 Share Posted 5 October, 2010 What's the clientel? Hmm I'd say chavs, 18-24, looking for trouble. Like listening to **** music (r 'n' b etc) and wearing branded clothes to show off to others. They're the sort that would deliberately knock into you so they could hit you for spilling your drink on their rockport shoes. The sort that would never go to a saints game but punch someone 'cause they support another team. The girls are the sort that will drink too much, have a fight with their best mate and end up in a meat wagon for taking a swing at a copper. Of course you could find trouble if you looked for it, but not did i get smacked and on many occassion i probably deserved to. Unless of course you count getting smacked on the botty by juliet bravo - now that was worth a wvnk.

SuperMikey Posted 6 October, 2010 Share Posted 6 October, 2010 It is right next to the Solent Uni building though tbf. Jesters is an infinitely better bar, and a lot cheaper too.
Turkish Posted 6 October, 2010 Share Posted 6 October, 2010 (edited) was it Centros? that used to be a great place. I remember seeing Hassan Kachloul in there one night, used start there, or Lizard Lounge, and then onto the Rhino. The Cat Posted 6 October, 2010 Share Posted 6 October, 2010 Never been in there myself, although I used to go to Goblets a lot. It does have one other claim to fame, it's the place where that foxy Russian Spy met the student in Southampton that she was banging for a while. Tried to post a link to the Sun website with the story but the swear filter on here won't allow the word s h a g g e d which is in the url. If you want to read it just google "russian spy southampton" and it's the first link. It's a strange world when a football forum is more censored than the Sun. Jeff Le Taxi Posted 7 October, 2010 Share Posted 7 October, 2010 Loved Goblets ....still do in fact, one of the few places left in Southampton with any character! Bogarts was upstairs, pretty cool hangout in its day, Bogarts, Goblets then Painted Wagon was always a good night!
