Leicestersaint Posted 6 August, 2008 Posted 6 August, 2008 206 for 7 at stumps. Could have been better - could have been worse. We need to win this one - but we've been saying that for weeks.
stevegrant Posted 7 August, 2008 Posted 7 August, 2008 236 all out. Rudolph didn't add many from his overnight total. Once again, full bowling points (we've dropped one bowling point all season!). Now let's see if we can repeat the Kent batting performance and get a few batting points.
Leicestersaint Posted 7 August, 2008 Author Posted 7 August, 2008 Our batting this season has been very variable and the ditto for the bowling. However, I think our single biggest problem have been the number of catches we have dropped this season. Hows o-called professional cricketers can drop so many catches is beyond me.
saintwarwick Posted 7 August, 2008 Posted 7 August, 2008 119/2 so making steady progress. If we can get past their total before stumps and pile on the runs tomorrow it will give us a chance to bowl them out for a second time, weather permitting of course (plus our ability to hold catches!).
Um Bongo Posted 7 August, 2008 Posted 7 August, 2008 119/2 so making steady progress. If we can get past their total before stumps and pile on the runs tomorrow it will give us a chance to bowl them out for a second time, weather permitting of course (plus our ability to hold catches!). Saturday looks like it's going to be a complete washout.
stevegrant Posted 7 August, 2008 Posted 7 August, 2008 We're looking reasonable so far, then. Even Ervine has hit some runs! Elsewhere, there's a ****ing weird game going on at Durham... Durham 146 & 108 v Kent 78 & 1-2  Could be some deductions there for Durham for a poor pitch given that 15 wickets went down on day 1 and 17 already on day 2!!
Leicestersaint Posted 7 August, 2008 Author Posted 7 August, 2008 154 for 4 - Benham out first ball (Leg before) - hopefully we can press on.
stevegrant Posted 7 August, 2008 Posted 7 August, 2008 It's official... we're in freefall again. 5 down now. Time for the regular Dimi/Pothas rescue act
Leicestersaint Posted 7 August, 2008 Author Posted 7 August, 2008 It really is quite pathetic how often this happens! let's hope tha NP and DM can add 50 or so together. We are still 70 behind Yourkshire's modest score.
bungle Posted 7 August, 2008 Posted 7 August, 2008 Thing is, with the exception of Benham, they all made starts. Also, 3 of them got past 40, which is perfectly acceptable. It's average, rather than bad, but we do need Pothas and Mascarenhas to get some extra runs for us.
Leicestersaint Posted 7 August, 2008 Author Posted 7 August, 2008 203 for 9 - and words fail me. How utterly unprofessional. Do they actually want to get relegated?? bring in some of the seconds.

If we can get past their total before stumps and pile on the runs tomorrow it will give us a chance to bowl them out for a second time, weather permitting of course (plus our ability to hold catches!). 214/9, should of kept my mouth shut
Leicestersaint Posted 7 August, 2008 Author Posted 7 August, 2008 Balcombe and Tomlinson are at least having a go and showing the other non-events how to do it. It's now 236 for9.
saintjinksie Posted 7 August, 2008 Posted 7 August, 2008 its basically a two day, two innings game. all that has gone before does not count. Lets hope we can bowl them out cheaply, as our batting is very weak.
Gully Posted 8 August, 2008 Posted 8 August, 2008 Yorks are 45-2 this morning 2 wickets in 2 balls for Tahir.
Leicestersaint Posted 8 August, 2008 Author Posted 8 August, 2008 I don't fancy a target of over 150!
Gully Posted 8 August, 2008 Posted 8 August, 2008 52-3, lining up to be a thrilling end, unless tommorrow's a washout.
Fowllyd Posted 8 August, 2008 Posted 8 August, 2008 I don't fancy a target of over 150! Know what you mean. Yorkshire's young leg-spinner took seven of our first-innings wickets, so I hate to think what he might do in the fourth innings if the pitch has worn further...
Fowllyd Posted 8 August, 2008 Posted 8 August, 2008 OMG - 52-4! Lyth out lbw first ball. Tomlinson on a hat-trick then...
Leicestersaint Posted 8 August, 2008 Author Posted 8 August, 2008 52-3, lining up to be a thrilling end, unless tommorrow's a washout. Tomorrow may not be required!
Fowllyd Posted 8 August, 2008 Posted 8 August, 2008 Tomorrow may not be required! Looking that way! Forecast is appalling, so hope we can wrap it up today.
Leicestersaint Posted 8 August, 2008 Author Posted 8 August, 2008 Tahir has 4 for 28 - how does this bode for our innings?
stevegrant Posted 8 August, 2008 Posted 8 August, 2008 98-9 at lunch, Hoggard gone first ball (three golden ducks in the Yorkshire innings!)
Fowllyd Posted 8 August, 2008 Posted 8 August, 2008 98-9 now, Balcombe got Hoggard. And that's lunch...
Gully Posted 8 August, 2008 Posted 8 August, 2008 Need to make sure we don't allow for a last wicket swansong.
Evil Monkey Posted 8 August, 2008 Posted 8 August, 2008 Good bowling, or are we likely to be getting a visit from an ECB pitch inspector like Durham did yesterday?
Fowllyd Posted 8 August, 2008 Posted 8 August, 2008 Good bowling, or are we likely to be getting a visit from an ECB pitch inspector like Durham did yesterday? Doubt there'll be the dreaded inspectors' visit, as both teams made half-decent scores in their first innings. The highest innings total in the Kent/Durham match was 146, and the game was all but over after two days.
Leicestersaint Posted 8 August, 2008 Author Posted 8 August, 2008 24 for 0 - i scarcely dare think we might win!
Fowllyd Posted 8 August, 2008 Posted 8 August, 2008 39 without loss after ten overs - come on boys...
Scummer Posted 8 August, 2008 Posted 8 August, 2008 39/0 Is it too early to start the chants of 'easy, easy'?
Fowllyd Posted 8 August, 2008 Posted 8 August, 2008 39/0 Is it too early to start the chants of 'easy, easy'? Best wait till it's 107/0!!
stevegrant Posted 8 August, 2008 Posted 8 August, 2008 Hoggard was rubbish in his 4 overs, so Rashid's on already!
Scummer Posted 8 August, 2008 Posted 8 August, 2008 I'm liking the snails pace at which we are batting.
Fowllyd Posted 8 August, 2008 Posted 8 August, 2008 Hoggard was rubbish in his 4 overs, so Rashid's on already! I expected Rashid to be on pretty early, but Hoggard's spell must have been poor - over six an over conceded. Looks like Yorks have now slowed the run rate, but no more than that. 47/0 now...
stevegrant Posted 8 August, 2008 Posted 8 August, 2008 70/0 off 18... seems as if we've decided to try to hit Rashid out of the attack. Nothing risky in that approach, oh no!
TopGun Posted 8 August, 2008 Posted 8 August, 2008 It's nice to be in a cruising to victory position though. It's been a long time.
Leicestersaint Posted 8 August, 2008 Author Posted 8 August, 2008 Don't count any chickens yet - this is hampshire batting! But surely ... ?!
Torres Posted 8 August, 2008 Posted 8 August, 2008 Good bowling, or are we likely to be getting a visit from an ECB pitch inspector like Durham did yesterday? Doesn't matter if we do - if they reckon there was nothing wrong with that pitch at Durham we have nothing to worry about! Rob Key is really quite grumpy, it seems.
