Viking Warrior Posted 8 October, 2010 Posted 8 October, 2010 Sorry to ask but Is this a picture of the guy that got hit?. It could be a picture of anyone
merrimd Posted 8 October, 2010 Posted 8 October, 2010 Thats a picture of the diver! Talk about confusing matters!!!!!
Jez Posted 8 October, 2010 Posted 8 October, 2010 of course he is allowed. Just wish highly paid footballers were as dedicated to maximising their performance as other sportsman are - divers, runner, rowers etc - wouldn't happen as they know (as do footballers) it adversely effects their performance http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/4104544.Olympic__diving_star_to_miss_championships_after_nightclub_assault/ diver out past midnight at a nightclub getting in fight shocker. I think ChrisPY was making the point that divers do stay out past midnight, it is not only footballers. He wasn't trying to link the stories or the assailants together!
Saint_Donovan Posted 8 October, 2010 Posted 8 October, 2010 I've just found out I know the guy who got hit, I was supposed to be out with them on Saturday night so I could have given you an eye witnesses account but unfortunately I'm a boring f#*k and I stayed in. Sorry
Viking Warrior Posted 8 October, 2010 Posted 8 October, 2010 Its okay Saint Donovan staying in , It eems the place was packed out by friends of posters on here. and chances are you would not have got in.

Saint_Donovan Posted 8 October, 2010 Posted 8 October, 2010 For legal reasons I can't say anythng but there isn't much too it, the was a disagreement and person X hit person Z with a glass weapon which left him bloodied up and in need of medical attention.
NickG Posted 8 October, 2010 Posted 8 October, 2010 For legal reasons I can't say anythng but there isn't much too it, the was a disagreement and person X hit person Z with a glass weapon which left him bloodied up and in need of medical attention. ???
buctootim Posted 8 October, 2010 Posted 8 October, 2010 ??? What did you want, War and Peace - the Author's three volume cut??
1976_Child Posted 8 October, 2010 Posted 8 October, 2010 i ask again, does anyone know if Barnard has been charged with anything yet?
GenevaSaint Posted 8 October, 2010 Posted 8 October, 2010 i ask again, does anyone know if Barnard has been charged with anything yet? Not as far as we know, bailed again. Don't let that get in the way of some of "us" wanting to lynch him though. Even when charged there's the small matter of going to court in x months time and being found guilty.
GenevaSaint Posted 8 October, 2010 Posted 8 October, 2010 ??? Obviously there's alot to the points you've highlighted NickG, you know exactly what Saint_Donovan was saying though. There not a lot to expand upon, two guys had an argument, one hit the other with a glass or bottle and he needed medical attention.
Red and White Army Posted 8 October, 2010 Posted 8 October, 2010 Obviously there's alot to the points you've highlighted NickG, you know exactly what Saint_Donovan was saying though. There not a lot to expand upon, two guys had an argument, one hit the other with a glass or bottle and he needed medical attention. So his post revealed precisely nothing that wasn't already in the public domain then. Very ITK!!!
Viking Warrior Posted 8 October, 2010 Posted 8 October, 2010 As the meerkats would say simple Obviously there's alot to the points you've highlighted NickG, you know exactly what Saint_Donovan was saying though. There not a lot to expand upon, two guys had an argument, one hit the other with a glass or bottle and he needed medical attention Sounds like it was barnard that was hit by a glass or bottle. given he needed medical treatment Simple
Saint_Donovan Posted 8 October, 2010 Posted 8 October, 2010 So his post revealed precisely nothing that wasn't already in the public domain then. Very ITK!!! At what point did I say I was going to add something new to the story that's already been told?
Chin Strain Posted 8 October, 2010 Posted 8 October, 2010 As the meerkats would say simple Obviously there's alot to the points you've highlighted NickG, you know exactly what Saint_Donovan was saying though. There not a lot to expand upon, two guys had an argument, one hit the other with a glass or bottle and he needed medical attention Sounds like it was barnard that was hit by a glass or bottle. given he needed medical treatment Simple So, by default the other bloke knocked himself unconscious hitting Barnard with a bottle......?
NickG Posted 8 October, 2010 Posted 8 October, 2010 "by there isn't much to it" do you mean not much of an incident? As the account you gave says the opposite. Or did you mean you can add nothing to existing reports?
Saint_Donovan Posted 8 October, 2010 Posted 8 October, 2010 "by there isn't much to it" do you mean not much of an incident? As the account you gave says the opposite. Or did you mean you can add nothing to existing reports? Sorry for the confusion, I meant there is nothing much to add or any spice that hasn't already been mentioned, just a standard Saturday night drunken altercation which unfortunately left couple of chaps needing treatment. The full story will come out soon I'm sure, the chap involved is very well known around town as he used to do the doors on the bars around Bedford place. It's just such a shame barney was involved he's had a cracking start to the season.
Red&White Posted 8 October, 2010 Posted 8 October, 2010 He will be ! bloddy fooli ask again, does anyone know if Barnard has been charged with anything yet?
once_bitterne Posted 11 October, 2010 Posted 11 October, 2010 Me and SRS were out in town in the evening, later on alot of our group ended up in Whitehouse and ended up right in the middle of it unintentionally. I will be surprised if we see Barnard play for us again, thats all I am saying on the matter. It was nasty to say the least. As Predictions go......
Toomer Posted 11 October, 2010 Posted 11 October, 2010 If what we are being told/speculated is true, I was told by a solicitor freind of mine he could be looking at 3 years if found guilty.
Toadhall Saint Posted 11 October, 2010 Posted 11 October, 2010 If what we are being told/speculated is true, I was told by a solicitor freind of mine he could be looking at 3 years if found guilty. IF its malicious wounding with intent then he could be looking at 3-4 years. A lot depends on the circumstances and any history of this type of thing on his part. He could also get found guilty and get community service and a very large fine - I know of cases where both outcomes have happened.
saint_mears Posted 11 October, 2010 Posted 11 October, 2010 How about a punch was thrown whilst holding a bottle and thus getting injuries to the inside of the hand when it breaks.
Made in Southampton Posted 11 October, 2010 Posted 11 October, 2010 8 pages of pure speculation with plenty of people claiming to be ITK with others counter claiming with the added insight of expert opinions........ Reminds me of another well known thread. Lol
trousers Posted 11 October, 2010 Posted 11 October, 2010 If it had been a clear cut case of 'malicious harm with intent' then I'm sure Adkins/Cortese would have determined as much from interrogating Barnard themselves and, if it was clear cut, then they wouldn't have stood by him (which they appear to have done by virtue of him being in the squad on Saturday). I therefore believe we can draw a relatively educated conclusion that there is a significant element of doubt in Barnard being found guilty of a serious crime. Just my hunch.
NickG Posted 11 October, 2010 Posted 11 October, 2010 my hunch is none of us have a clue what happened and he could have any thing from not being charge to going inside for few years! my guess would be just that - a guess
JonnyLove Posted 11 October, 2010 Posted 11 October, 2010 8 pages of pure speculation with plenty of people claiming to be ITK with others counter claiming with the added insight of expert opinions........ Reminds me of another well known thread. Lol Have you not learnt anything over the last few years. This is what us saints supporters do best is it not.
up and away Posted 11 October, 2010 Posted 11 October, 2010 If what we are being told/speculated is true, I was told by a solicitor freind of mine he could be looking at 3 years if found guilty. Settle down, I really doubt this will come to any form of custodial sentence. As far as I can gather this was nothing premeditated or intended to deliberately disfigure. Yes, it all sounds bad, but unless he has a Joey Barton history this will just be at the worst a well earned lesson for him and the guy will get paid out. All sides seem to be keeping mum at the moment, so I can't see this having legs.
dune Posted 11 October, 2010 Posted 11 October, 2010 I got as far as page 2 and haven't read anything else on here. Please sumarise the key points of the new stuff.
dune Posted 11 October, 2010 Posted 11 October, 2010 If what we are being told/speculated is true, I was told by a solicitor freind of mine he could be looking at 3 years if found guilty. He isn't a real person though, he's a rich footballer.
Charlie Wayman Posted 11 October, 2010 Posted 11 October, 2010 Interesting he had a hand injury - usually only get those if you hit someone with your fist! Let's hope our players were not too involved and charges are not made to which they have to answer. It does make me wonder - what are "professional" (ahem) sportsmen doing out at that time of night alledgedly (ahem) under the influence of alcohol? I guess the club will make a statement later today? I stand by something I said earlier today elsewhere - if the allegations made in these pages are true - the guilty party (if a Saints player) should never play for Southampton again - we don't want this sort of thug associated with our club! Totally agree. We used to be renowned as a friendly family club suitable for kids. Let's keep it that way.
Gator Posted 11 October, 2010 Posted 11 October, 2010 forgive me, not sure what generation of football you grew up watching, but i followed saints at a time when we employed some of the best drinkers in the league - and we had a bloody good team. Didn't ruin me or my love of saints.

Didn't ruin me or my love of saints. Football is a different game now. Todays players are all much fitter and if they could go back to the future I *think* the great teams would struggle to keep up. That said players todays are nowhere near as hard (in general) and the ball is like a beachball. But wouldn't be lovely to be able to turn the clock back to see.
shane d Posted 12 October, 2010 Posted 12 October, 2010 i heard today that charges had been dropped. ( so if you see the one that barney hit in a brand new car, on route to the airport let us know )
Secret Site Agent Posted 13 October, 2010 Posted 13 October, 2010 Football is a different game now. Although he did it as a joke, the sketch by Harry Enfield of the Old Arsenal team against Liverpool of '91 I think definatly shows the difference.
Red and White Army Posted 13 October, 2010 Posted 13 October, 2010 If charges have indeed been dropped, it shows a lot of Billy Bull****ters have been posting on this thread.
iansums Posted 13 October, 2010 Posted 13 October, 2010 If charges have indeed been dropped, it shows a lot of Billy Bull****ters have been posting on this thread. No change there then!
trousers Posted 13 October, 2010 Posted 13 October, 2010 i heard today that charges had been dropped Horses mouth?
REDARMY79 Posted 13 October, 2010 Posted 13 October, 2010 I've heard charges have been dropped too. Out of court settlement?
chocco boxo Posted 13 October, 2010 Posted 13 October, 2010 Say Barney has mixed it up with some "useful" people. What if they said pay us off or you going down and getting a good kicking some other time? Possibly ruin his career for ever! Barney's option pay say £100,000 and everyone is happy except the Old Bill?
Gemmel Posted 13 October, 2010 Posted 13 October, 2010 If charges have indeed been dropped, it shows a lot of Billy Bull****ters have been posting on this thread. Has he been actually charged with anything yet, for charges to be dropped??????????? And the guy that said he had heard they had been dropped, suggested "The Passing of silver" might have helped... The only problem with that is that with so many witnesses, it has nothing to do with whether he wants to prosecute or not (Unless he wants to file a civil charge) it's down to whether the CPS think there is a reasonable chance of winning
aintforever Posted 13 October, 2010 Posted 13 October, 2010 I don't think the person who got wacked has any choice in who gets charged with what.
