Our attendance of "only" 26,289 ( though it would be a bit more!) was as the title says the 4th best in English football today. Only 3 games in the Prem were better attended and the closest Championship game was Ipswich/Leeds with 23,105.

Bet that hasn't happened often!!

They took 470 up to Middlesbrough on this Saturday afternoon, in a Championship game. We took 600-odd to Hartlepool on a Tuesday night in a League One tie. Says a lot about their "gratest suport in the land and quite possible the world" doesn't it.

Anyone that was at Hartlepool that night will tell you the end we were in was pact solid. I was told by a steward that the end holds around 1000.

I think you will find that 600 odd tickets were bought at St Marys & the rest including me paid on the night.

I think last season the leeds game was the 3rd most watched, behind only Man U and Arsenal.

I thought we would get more than 26K yesterday but considering the ticket prices it was a good turnout. Sort of rubbishes what the skates have been saying out us only getting good crowds because of cheap pricing etc.

The thing is with Saints support is that it is a bit of an unknown quantity, the only real success we have had was in the 70's/80's and then we were limited by the Dell. The Strachan years saw regular sell outs but that wasn't real success, and there was no real investment so the club's true potential has never been fulfilled.

To be honest if we got back to the prem even after 4 or 5 bad results we would still get sell outs where as before when we thought we were untouchable are attendance's would of droped by 3-4k if we failed to win our last 3-4 games.

I thought we were the first prem club to go down with effectively full gates?

Yeah think that the 636 or whatever it was was the official away attendance, but I was there and I agree it was packed and seemed a lot more than 600.

Was a great night. Made me proud to be a saint.

It was definitely almost full, 900 odd saints up there on a Tuesday which is impressive.

How many are planning to go this year?

We have Carlisle away in Mid-November, and Hartlepool away December 4th, looking forward to both, but i predict there will only be around 500 saints at each game.
