I've been an admin and a mod before, so wouldn't want to tread on anyones toes with my skills in this field, although if any of the new mods need some guidance i'd be more than happy to offer some tips.

 

Best add a winky as I know most of you lot don't get humour. wink wink.

Suggestion for Boj, and the absent Steve.

 

Infractions.

 

Could they not be a panel decision and where a mod thinks a comment is completely out of order removed for consideration. As you know i got banned because a certain mod didn't like me so i reckon it'd be more professional to make punishments a joint decision.

You're entitled to your view, and i know others will agree with you, but put it this way - my 6000 posts of **** adds more to the site than your 390 golden nuggets. And I behave myself now and Baj knows this and he also knows more too.

I'm starting feel sorry for Baj now. Don't get me wrong he's made a horrendous area of judgement in the way he has treated his friends, but having seen what Baj does on this site over many years, and having been helped by Baj, I think we all need to cut him some slack. Is the Baj the sort of person who would have done this to his friends had he realised how it'd be seen? NO. I think he's hurting as much as they are and i'd really respect him if he did the right thing, said sorry and meant it, and the old mods accept the apology and get this place back to normal. And contrary to the moaning there is nothing wrong with the forum - it is currently the best a saints forum ever has been - although we all sometimes look back through rose tinted glases. That said it would be nice to see some smaller forums popping up with a few regulars because this is mainstream and a bit of variety makes life more interesting. Baj you could be really decent and encourage and allow new forums to b advertised on here. Let's be honest this is not a business, it's you trying to hlp fellow fans out, so stop worrying about fivers and stop worrying about it going slow now and then during a match - you're doing your best and it's hardly a matter of life and death. In fact why be brave and put your faith in all of and stop the £5 and do like Keith did and ask for donations. I promise i'd donate £20 and others would donate generously too be a great of us value what you provide. Come on Baj - you wanted a radical relaunch then scrap the £5 fee - make everyone a full member and I am very sure that you'll bring in more money because we are a bloody good fanbase who look out for each other and we we're a family on here of a sort.

 

And my final word on the mod situation.

 

Stop being big girls blouses the lot of you and start acting like grown men who are friends. Frankly this whole episode is embarrassing - sort it out - and get rid of this cringeworthy thread.

 

And to think i'm called immature. You should all be infracting yourselves for making such tit's of yourselves.;)

 

P.s Baj if you've found this post helpful there is the little matter of my request for a Porn Forum which i sense you've not fully ruled out.... It'd be a great addition if you could somehow limit users to over 18's.

People and alpine saint are the reason I don't post. If you & the other tedious trolls were gone discussion could flourish and more marginal posters would enjoy the place again instead of being driven away.

I think you're being unfair, but if you feel like that then that's up to you. Alpine isn't that bad tbh, but if you really have an issue just put him on ignore. Personally i've always found he has a good sense of humour and can laugh at himself - the acid test to who's alright and who's a nob. I would suggest to you that you are endemic of the minor problem, if you debate with Alpine he's fine and not at all rude, but you have been rude remark about him in your post complaining. Alps also has a little double act with SOG and it doesn't hurt anyone - i rarely read the exchanges, but they don't bother me. Of course you're entitled to feel the way you do though and i'd prefer it if all the sleepers put in a bit more input - even if it's just to slag me off - i'm used to it and thick skinned.

TBF if he broke the rules and got given a forced break from here. Then he will be back when the ban is over. Letting him back because someone likes him is as bad as banning you cause a mod don't like you.

 

I've never been banned because I haven't broken the rules. It's not that difficult.

Dune, well said mate. I don't agree with your politics but I always find your posts entertaining and this forum would be a poorer place without all the characters like yourself, Alpine, Delldays, SRS, Dalek etc. I don't post much but come on here everyday for a read and a chuckle and still think this is by far the best Saints forum out there (and one of the best in general btw). I think the current atmosphere on here is just down to the recent happenings on and off the pitch at SFC - and that things will soon pick up again. I think personal abuse should be frowned on but at the same time people should also be a bit thicker-skinned too; it's the debate and banter that really makes this place what it is.

I think allowing all banned users back on wouldn't be a bad idea tbf. All the people I remember from the good ol' days are gone. Would be good to get some banter back.

 

I'd be intersted to know who you'd want back out of the banned posters. Most of those who were banned got banned because they were racist, homophobic, abusive to other posters, wind up merchants, serial spammers or a combination thereof. Can't see what having them back will achieve.

I have to say I don't think this Forum's got less interesting due to the moderating either, it's got less interesting because we have fewer people interested in Saints to begin with, and most of the ones left are battle-scarred and come with a lot of baggage from previous arguments (I'm not going to call them debates) which those not interested in discussion are happy to jump on the first opportunity they get. And there are a LOT of people with nothing better to do than drag stuff down.

 

The really weird bit for me was back in the S4E days I lived on the stupid forums* and rarely went on the Main "Bored", on TSW it was about 50/50, and now I'm rarely on the non-footy forums at all. I suspect this is because the in-jokes left me behind, but also because there are just so many pure idiots with few redeeming features on here to begin with drowning out the informed discussion.

 

The era of witty banter is dead, long live trolling and pointless abuse.

Not who I want back, but someone you were right to ban StuRomseySaint all he does on the Ugly is wind people up, and repeat himself about people that report posts and use the ignore button. This to me has guilt writing all over it... people do not report me or ignore me. All these forums give you choice, for who you want to respond to and who you want to ignore. I do not use the ignore button, but do like the forum not to be full of people that think they know best. Relax and have some fun!!

I don't know Dune and he maybe a total kartoffelnkopf - dunno - but he starts plenty of threads which turn into good (if often a tad predictable) ones, particularly in The Lounge.

In answer to your question , yes I am serious about the whole issue in 2004 when we failed to appoint Hoddle because i really do believe it was the most pivotal point in the clubs history and unfortunately began our decline. I DO NOT THINK Hoddle was the only choice, but Sturrock was definitely the wrong choice.

However, I agree with most posters that now it is just history and not relevant to the future of saints FC. I agree we have to move forward. Yes many of my posts are very tongue in cheek and I suppose I should give them up.

I love the banter on this site and am often brought to laughter by some of the wit on this board. I agree with most that some posters are just hostile, but i just ignore them.

As for Alpine, he is very endearing and I think I have conceeded weeks ago that he was right. IMO an evening with Alpine droning on would be quite a laugh and i am sure he has a great sense of humour in person.

I am not sure that we have turned the corner as a club yet, we may have many dark days ahead !

That's not the case personally. Initially I was happy to reapply, but after thinking about it I decided the 'job' just wasn't fun anymore. Can't speak for anyone else, but personally I've been feeling indifferent towards this board (the content, not the way it was run) for a while. I just took this as an excuse to jump ship.

Personally it would be a shame if Baj and Granty decided to call it a day for this site. The interest will grow again once we start our progress back up the leagues and the debates as volitile as before. Bring back Burley then you would see

2. Allow access to all other forums such as the Lounge to full members only, with the exception of any commercial or sponsored forums which you would be getting an income for.

 

3. Make more of commercial opportunities.

 

So in short, improve the Saints chat forum and this site should retain its current position as the best site around which in turn will allow you to make the most of commercial opportunities. At the moment the site is in decline and IMO that's mostly due to the 3 post rule and no thread starting for non-members on the footballing forum.

 

Come on Steve and Baj. Saints are on their way up. The Chairman and owners of our club seem to have great plans. Ride that wave and have the vision to see your site ride that wave with them. This site should be seen as an investment which could prove quite lucrative in time if Saints do achieve the goals the Chairman is setting for them.

The reason it is quieter is that there is not that much to talk about. The times this place becomes lively is when the fanbase is divided. You get the ones who are right and the ones who don't agree with me.

1. The implication there is that different topics would be started if we had more members starting threads? Sorry, don't agree with that at all, I think all subjects are already covered by those that are able to start the threads, with everyone else contributing to them.

 

2. Again, I disagree, sorry, I think restricting the other forums to full members only would have a negative effect on the content of those forums. Less people contributing.

 

3. We dont need to, we break even commercially so we don't see the need to make "more" money. The subscription fee exists to generate a guaranteed income per year which we can base our business model on, with additional ad revenue allowing us to purchase extras.
