Bournemouth Attendance

Why on earth do they want to go to a league one match then?!

Because there all coming out of the woodwork and Boscombe's "always been their second team". My little lad's sunday team was full of Chelsea and Man Utd supporters, 3 of which now turn up for training in Boscombe kits some weeks .For some reason there is a growing hatred of us around the Bournemouth/Poole area, which unuseally seems to have grown the worse we've got. The Harry Redknapp stuff accelerated it a bit, as he is considered a god round here, with the local paper almost hero worshipping him. I've lived in Poole almost 20 years and I never used to get this "scummers" nonsense from the locals, the past 6/7 years it's been a lot different.

I think there are alot of part time Saints fans that also follow our little chums Bournemouth. So if these people are likely to visit just one game this season...it's obviously going to be this one.

Congrats on the season so far Oosie. Hope both sides can be up there come the end of the season.

with a certain affinity to our lesser neighbours it was always going to get a better gate. I know about our arrogance but this is the first time in 40 years i have gone to watch B'mouth and they are above us in a league. Therefore in those 40+years it is human natue to look down on them. Im sure if they played Weymouth their fans would look down on them in the same way.I can't take them seriously and when a friend tried to wind it up last night I said, you may win, but i know that in 5 years time we will be in a better position than you again and when the manager is gone they will plummet back down again.

They are so desperate for us to become real rivals, and im sure we will get lots of posturing today. i hope we can rise above it

It's all very simple, although perhaps a little challenging for some people to grasp...

I'll therefore explain it as uncomplicatedly as possible:

My cousin is a Bournemouth fan

He couldn't get a ticket for the game (because lots more Bournemouth fans than usual wanted to go to an inconsequential away game for some reason...)

He phoned me to ask if I was going.

I said, no, I hadn't planned on going but could get us a couple of tickets if he fancied it.

He said ok.

I bought a couple of tickets.

The attendance figure went up by two.

Now, here comes the complicated bit....

Being born and living near Dorset (as one does) and having friends and family in the area, the chances of me (and no doubt many others) receiving an off the cuff "fancy going to the game?" phone call are much greater for a 'local' game than receiving a similar phone call about the Saints vs Rochdale game (for example)

Hope that helps?

Good work.

For those Bournemouth fans thinking this will be the biggest attended game of the season at St Mary's...

Last season 30,890 saw the Saints vs Exeter game on Boxing Day. Crowds that time of year are always bigger no matter who the game is against. This year Saints have two home games over the holiday period, on 28th December vs Huddersfield and New Years Day vs Exeter, which will both get big crowds.

"If" Saints manage to put together a promotion run they will see attendances shoot up towards the end of the season. For example...

The game vs Sheffield Weds on March 19th 2011 is likely to have a crowd similar to the 30,794 that saw Saints vs Leeds United in the league last season on March 13th 2010.

Should there be anything resting on the last two or three home games i.e. chance of automatic promotion, winning the league, making it into the playoffs, then you will probably see sell out, 32k crowds.

No, but you may leave the stadium with some criminal charges ;)

(Yes, you will need a ticket, unless the stewards are nice and understanding)

I'll buy one if I need one, it's just that a lot of entertainment venues don't make small children pay especially if they aren't using a seat.

Do I need a ticket for a three year old if he sits on my lap? I've double booked the child ticket I have......

Children under 8 years old enter for free, as a look at the OS or free call on the ticket office 0800 number would tell you...

oh right, thanks for that...are you saying that apart from our 3200 in the away section there may be another 5000 of us in the home end. I'm intrigued now. You are buying tickets for us...?.I mean as one of you stated above you only had 21k for Brighton .....who's cup final is it??

Listen you lot, its been a pleasure winding you all up and tomorrow I will be sat in the Itchen West wing (wtf- sounds like a nut house)...im itchen already just thinking about it. I guess I will be amongst plenty of afcb fans.

We've got this song lined...it goes something along the lines of "we've got your manager"....(you know the one you couldnt quite get)

anyway 3 posts in 24 hours is my limit.......as for the poster who said about a paper round...here is a history lesson for you son

as I stated our big game is against Brighton next week and blow me they are selling out as well

Big game at Brighton eh . Is that why you took the mighty impressive number of 478 fans. To be fair , it was on telly , and it was a nice day to stay on the beach .

478. Pathetic.

Just had a quick look on the AFCB forum and there was a post saying that only 1000 tickets were left in the home end and Saints will only get an allocation of 1,300.

Don't worry about it.

Once their Landlords padlock their ground for non payment of rent they'll be up the road at Dorchester or Weymouth, Eddie (I don't need the money honest) will be on the phone to the FL very shortly begging for the game to switched to SMS so he can earn some cash by selling out the Kingsland for his home supporters

there has to be a reason to sell tickets for a game 3-4months away. Especially as it is their biggest match of the season and so it was always going to sell out. As i said earlier they even have lost the opportunity to make fans buy tickets for other home games to tie to it. Something doesn't add up and you are propbably on the nail with rent etc
