the wedge Posted 4 October, 2008 Posted 4 October, 2008 Can anyone give me any pointers as to where I can see the game in London town? Anywhere, I'm easy. Just moved up here and the rugby seems to be taking preference at the usual places... Thanks
Benj540 Posted 4 October, 2008 Posted 4 October, 2008 3-1 Saints. Kelvin to pull off some more blinding saves.
mitch01 Posted 4 October, 2008 Posted 4 October, 2008 3 wins in a row is too good to be true, hopefully we can get a point though. 1-1.
West End Saint Posted 4 October, 2008 Posted 4 October, 2008 A point would be a good result 1 . 1 I reckon UTS!
corsacar saint Posted 4 October, 2008 Posted 4 October, 2008 How often do we win 3 games in a row. Ido not not think Coventry are any great shakes, though.[ Would settle for a point].
SaintKenny Posted 4 October, 2008 Posted 4 October, 2008 Just leaving now, got my long sleeved away shirt today, going to need it looking at the weather. Lets hope we can keep up the 2 - 0 winning streak
Colinjb Posted 4 October, 2008 Posted 4 October, 2008 So nice to have an away game I don't need to travel to!!! My prediction is that i'll be half cut before kick off for a change, and for the score.... I don't want to jinx it, couldn't live it down if we lost, the lads I coach would rip the **** out of me.
VectisSaint Posted 4 October, 2008 Posted 4 October, 2008 Blimey Alps it's not often we've agreed but this and the score line. Killer won't be match fit IMHO Killer not in squad, but would have been silly to change the team much anyway. I'll stick with my prediction of 1-1, and will be happy if we get that. Anything else has to be a bonus.
Arizona Posted 4 October, 2008 Posted 4 October, 2008 Anyone got a dodgy online TV link? Love waching the WBA game last season with Japanese commentary. Oooooh!!! Saganowsaki!!
Wiltshire Saint Posted 4 October, 2008 Posted 4 October, 2008 Coventry are in a bit of freefall at the moment only winning once in their previous 8 games. I think they are there for the taking and now is the best possible time to play them. If the boys go in with the confidence they should have from the last 2 games i can see us winning it. It wont be easy but as long as KD stays in great form and our defence do ok i can see it being 1-2 to Saints. However as we know for some reason teams who are doing bad seem to do well against us and i have a feeling this could be one of those games. I worry a lot about our defence and the last 2 games i know if it was majority of the teams in this league they would of taken many of them. If you Give Eastwood or Morrison those chances they will bury them most of the time. So i think the Sky curse will continue and we could let in a few, i think it will be 3-1 Coventry. Hope they proove me wrong and don't buckle on TV. + almost 3000. I agree wholeheartedly with this sensible post. I can see us winning or losing, as does St Marco. I am prepeared to go a bit further by saying I can see a draw as well. I don't mind putting my neck on the line, after all these predictions are just for fun aren't they.
monkadill Posted 4 October, 2008 Posted 4 October, 2008 Anyone got a dodgy online TV link? Love waching the WBA game last season with Japanese commentary. Oooooh!!! Saganowsaki!! I use Sopcast - http://www.sopcast.com/ I have not seen any channels yet. Also try http://www.justin.tv/directory/sports/soccer?kind=live&order=hot - Birmingham - QPR is on at the mo
St Chalet Posted 4 October, 2008 Posted 4 October, 2008 The undertone of this game is SISU Vs Lowe. I wonder how they are finding the credit crisis? Sky presenter on the Brum game also keeps calling us 'vastly improving'. Fresh from that curse, the game being on Sky and not being able to remember when we strung 3 back to wins together I am going for 2-0 defeat.
Thedelldays Posted 4 October, 2008 Posted 4 October, 2008 um...the last two I predicted a saints defeat.. soooooo....3-1 to cov
um pahars Posted 4 October, 2008 Posted 4 October, 2008 Would settle for another good performance and think a draw would be a good result. 1-1, coming back from one down.
Gully Posted 4 October, 2008 Posted 4 October, 2008 Anyone know if this is being shown anywhere in central london?
Saints67 Posted 4 October, 2008 Posted 4 October, 2008 2-1 to Coventry, they are due a win and those bloody Sky cameras are there. My thoughts exactly!
MulletMan Posted 4 October, 2008 Posted 4 October, 2008 0-0 till the 93rd minute, when McGoldrick pops up to steal it for the saints. 0-1 saints then!! COYR! I have waited for our last minute winner in years now! Just hope they make sure that they don´t lose it that way.
Saints67 Posted 4 October, 2008 Posted 4 October, 2008 http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/articles/article.php?page_id=10701 No Svensson or Smith in the squad. Stern and Morgan both out injured.
ozzmeister Posted 4 October, 2008 Posted 4 October, 2008 Gonna go for 2-2 with Coventry equalising late in the second half through Leon Best (curse of the ex player and all that)
Saint Charlie Posted 4 October, 2008 Posted 4 October, 2008 Team is: --------------------------Davis----------------------------- James----------Perry--------------Lancashire-------------Mills -------------------Wotton----------Cork--------------------- DMG--------------------Lallana--------------------------Surman------- -------------------------Robertson----------------------------- SUBS: Bart, BWP, Gillett, White, Pekhart
Mr saint Posted 4 October, 2008 Posted 4 October, 2008 Would it be sad if I went down the pub to watch it on my own? No doubt it won't be on anyway seeing as Man Utd are also playing.
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 4 October, 2008 Posted 4 October, 2008 Team is: --------------------------Davis----------------------------- James----------Perry--------------Lancashire-------------Mills -------------------Wotton----------Cork--------------------- DMG--------------------Lallana--------------------------Surman------- -------------------------Robertson----------------------------- SUBS: Bart, BWP, Gillett, White, Pekhart The personnel look good but can we just play 4-4-2 DMG is not a wide player.
Saint Charlie Posted 4 October, 2008 Posted 4 October, 2008 The personnel look good but can we just play 4-4-2 DMG is not a wide player. 4-4-2 doesnt get the best from Lallana though!
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 4 October, 2008 Posted 4 October, 2008 4-4-2 doesnt get the best from Lallana though! He can play just behind the front 2. 4 - 3 - 1 - 2
Matthew Le God Posted 4 October, 2008 Posted 4 October, 2008 The personnel look good but can we just play 4-4-2 DMG is not a wide player. we just won the last two games playing that formation and you want to change it?
tombletomble Posted 4 October, 2008 Posted 4 October, 2008 Would it be sad if I went down the pub to watch it on my own? No doubt it won't be on anyway seeing as Man Utd are also playing. Thats what I am doing. None of my mates are up for it
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 4 October, 2008 Posted 4 October, 2008 we just won the last two games playing that formation and you want to change it? I believe we will score more with two up front.
Saint Charlie Posted 4 October, 2008 Posted 4 October, 2008 He can play just behind the front 2. 4 - 3 - 1 - 2 Thats not 4-4-2 then!
Matthew Le God Posted 4 October, 2008 Posted 4 October, 2008 I believe we will score more with two up front. and then if we play your formation with lallana behind two strikers we would have no width
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 4 October, 2008 Posted 4 October, 2008 Thats not 4-4-2 then! No, i prefer 4-4-2 but if as suggested we "get the best" from Lallana this would accomodate him and 2 up front.
Matthew Le God Posted 4 October, 2008 Posted 4 October, 2008 No, i prefer 4-4-2 but if as suggested we "get the best" from Lallana this would accomodate him and 2 up front. and have no width
Badger Posted 4 October, 2008 Posted 4 October, 2008 Isn't it inevitable that Shovelfoot Best will score against us ?
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 4 October, 2008 Posted 4 October, 2008 and then if we play your formation with lallana behind two strikers we would have no width We have a striker playing as a wide player in DMG and he clearly isn`t. Imo, if we want width we need to play proper wide players.
Windmill Arm 2 Posted 4 October, 2008 Posted 4 October, 2008 The cameras will ensure that Coventry get a comfortable win, hope i'm wrong.
Matthew Le God Posted 4 October, 2008 Posted 4 October, 2008 We have a striker playing as a wide player in DMG and he clearly isn`t. Imo, if we want width we need to play proper wide players. the front 4 players in the 4231 formation (i.e. mcgoldrick, robertson, lallana and surman) all interchange and swap positions throughout the match. it is not rigid in terms of where they play.
itchen Posted 4 October, 2008 Posted 4 October, 2008 After today's other results, we could go 10th (taking QPR's place) if we win by two goals, 11th if we only win by 1.
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 4 October, 2008 Posted 4 October, 2008 the front 4 players in the 4231 formation all interchange and swap positions throughout the match. it is not rigid in terms of where they play. i.e. mcgoldrick, robertson, lallana and surman So as our forum tactical expert, tells us could the same not happen if we have 2 up front and Lallana behind then?
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 4 October, 2008 Posted 4 October, 2008 The cameras will ensure that Coventry get a comfortable win, hope i'm wrong. Hope you are very wrong and we don`t make ourselves look crap as we often do on the telly
RobM Posted 4 October, 2008 Posted 4 October, 2008 So as our forum tactical expert, tells us could the same not happen if we have 2 up front and Lallana behind then? It could well do, but since this formation works and we've won the last two games, why change it? McG has worked well in this position and has scored from it, so I'm happy to see it continuing.
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 4 October, 2008 Posted 4 October, 2008 It could well do, but since this formation works and we've won the last two games, why change it? McG has worked well in this position and has scored from it, so I'm happy to see it continuing. I think you will find that was an own goal
RobM Posted 4 October, 2008 Posted 4 October, 2008 I think you will find that was an own goal I think you'll find he has scored more than one goal this season. And whoever claims the goal, the fact we were in a goalscoring position means the formation and tactics were working. We were in an attacking position, we gained a goal, we won. In my book, that's a success. We were all crying out for some consistency under GB, which we now have.
Matthew Le God Posted 4 October, 2008 Posted 4 October, 2008 So as our forum tactical expert, tells us could the same not happen if we have 2 up front and Lallana behind then? you are missing the point! they keep the same formation but swap position thus if they did that in a 2 up front with lallana behind then it would be a very different system
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 4 October, 2008 Posted 4 October, 2008 I`m off to watch the telly.... Let`s hope we can all enjoy it. 2 nil to us.....here`s hoping
