Alan after winning saints their first trophy in 38 years, losing only elven games all season (in all competitions), having around 60% win ratio and finishing the seventh best manager in all leagues (according to the league managers assocation own stats), while rebuilding a team after adminstration and relegation with a -10 point penalty. how do you feel about some fickle saints fans who are happy to brand you a drunken, womaniser not fit to lead out a pub team, who had no plan B and only played long ball to Rickie Lambert, do you think a little bit of gratitude might be nice?

I'd like him to answer this:

The absolute value of a real number is defined as its numerical value without regard for sign. So, for example, abs (2) = abs (−2) = 2.

The maximum of two real numbers is defined as the numerically bigger of the two. For example, max (2, −3) = max (2, 2) = 2.

Express:

abs in terms of max

max in terms of abs

He must show his workings out in full.

I think you should do your own home work.

Who cares - he's gone, let's move on now please ! We need to deal with life as it is NOT as we would like it to be. Whatever any one says or does AP is not coming back, and we have a simple choice either support Saints or AP.

I was initially disappointed when AP was sacked, but for whatever reason there was always a festering sore whilst he was here, so whilst we may face a temporary setback, the future is RED (good).

Even from AL's latest interview on the official website, something was not right - he hasn't trained all season / was unfit at the start of the season / needed the op and much better for it ???? AP - did you not know / care?

Season starts now - let's get behind the mighty Saints !!!!!

I wasn't a Pardew fan, but I don't belive he deserved the sack on peformance grounds and I do think he could have got promotion.Cortese has losy my trust because I don't belive he was honest about the matter, and I suspect Cortese of being responsible in part for the inadequate strengthening of the squad in the close season as well as the dropped points following his handling of the Pardew affair.

BUT.

We do now have a manager who looks confident and capable. I like his playing style and his ambition for the club. I admire his frankness about team performance and his determination to get the players to perform to their ability.

SO

The bad taste over the Pardew affait will fade and it is time to move on.

I agree with most of that prof. I actually like Nigel he speaks sense, seems to know whats about I think he will turn us round (given time) but I also think this season is going to be a bust. My main problem is/was the way some fans have taken to ripping Pardew apart (mostly to support NC it seems) instead of just thanking him for the good stuff he did they want to re-write history I bet they where all there cheering at wembley or enjoying battering huddersfield. I shouldn't be surprised last home game I was surronded by people giving Lambert all sorts of abuse he doesn't score for a few games and is now being branded an awful player by some fans that sort of attitude just frustrates me. Your right it is time to move on hopeful with a win against that top 2 side Bournemouth (never thought I'd say that).

Oh so true. So many of the people on here are a disgrace to themselves and the club. I am glad that their Pardew-hatred is not shared by the wider fanbase.

For everyone who blames Pardew for a lack of signings over the summer, surely they must realise it is not solely the manager who makes these decisions these days?

OK - I have tweeted a number of questions to Ben Shepherd to ask Alan Pardew:

* What difference did the death of Marcus Liebherr make for both you and the club?

* Why were you sacked... or, at the very least, was it for on- or off-field reasons?

* What advice would you give Nigel Adkins for dealing with Nicola Cortese in order to be more successful?

* If you were still Saints manager and had money to spend to buy/loan players, where would you strengthen?

* If you were to set up the management structure of a club, how different/similar would it be to Saints & why?

If rumours are true, then all of the above is irrelevant.

if No one has offered any proof lots of people have said on here we mustn't judge NC on rumours so the same should apply to Pardew. Look Alans gone Nigel seems to be turnning it around which is good I think nigel will do a good job. I just don't see why fans can't just say thank you to a manager who gave us a really good season last year. Instead some seem determined to re-write history and make Pardew out to be the anti-christ and that really ****es me off.

Me too but we do that a lot here (not just with managers) so what can you do? We had a decent season last year, I hope we have a better one this year. Pardew played a big part in turning the club around and any success this season will be due in part to his work last season. I just hope that Adkins can get the team scoring as freely as Pardew did. Hopefully that will come.

I sent an email thanking him for what he did for us and asking him to tell us why he was exited. I am not expecting an answer.

I feel sorry for the new presenter on the programme as he has to make up for the village idiot Kamara - he who was a poor player and even worse manager and sits there telling all of the Prem managers how they should run their sides and referees how to do their job without him knowing the rules of the game and was convicted for GBH on a footbal pitch. I am sorry Kamara was racially abused by his own Pompey supporters but it may have not been entirely race related but because he was also c**p.

For those that do not know the story in 1988 when a Swindon player 'hard man' Kamara backed off a confontation with a player called Jim Melrose after Kamara had kicked him (Melrose is only half Kamara's size by the way) and while Melrose was celebrating his goal and his teams win at the end of the game Kamara ran the length of the pitch hit Melrose from behind and broke Melrose' cheekbone - hence the conviction for GBH. The story is in Kamara's book but no one bothered to buy it.

It should be an interesting programme.

Although I was mightily impressed with Adkins yesterday, I am holding off making definitive comparisons because I have seen much better under Pardew. But that in no way means we need to get the team scoring as freely as Pardews good games. Having a solid defence and resolute midfield will gain easily over Pardews approach in the long run with the attacking options we have. I am sure Pardew never wanted us to lose our shape and players to start aimlessly wandering into blind alleys, but this continued to happen. Adkins on the other hand soon made his point with Puncheon by pulling him off the field and replacing him with Holmes. Such is Adkins influence that a few bellowed instructions and everyone is back in position. In fairness it's not beyond the realms of possibility that yesterdays game could have ended 0-0, but with the amount of pressure they were under you could always see them giving away something.

When Pardew went to 451 at home to the 3-2 loss to Bristol Rovers last season, I said then that was the way forwarded and heaped praise upon him irrespective of the result. That got us onto a mini run to get us within touching distance of the play offs, only for all the defensive aspect to get forgotten for us to continually play boom or bust football. I would have given Pardew more time, but these are the reasons why I am shedding no tears upon the fact he has gone. We don't know as yet that Adkins can keep this going, but I can see Pardews weaknesses being overcome and that was never going to happen previously unless he unearthered a couple of miracles from the transfer market.

These are the main problems that managers face each week and what sorts the successful ones from the unsuccessful ones. Things obviously worked for Pardew up to a point last season. You can see how difficult it is to transfer what you ask for on the training pitch into the game proper and a gamble to change things if they are going to plan. As ever, if you win your are a hero no matter what you did, if you lose you made the wrong choices. Hats off to Adkins for having the b*lls to haul someone off for not following instructions (if that is what happened). It will send the right message. You talk about our attacking options (and it is a huge plus having Lallana back of course) but for all of his industry Barnard is not scoring regularly and Ricky has lost his touch. If you aren't scoring 2 or 3 eack week, and we are not, then the defence and midfield do have to make sure we keep clean sheets. It will be interesting to see how Adkins takes things forward.

I think the main reason people like Derry lost total patience with Pardew, is the repetition of errors over a long period of time that they just gave up on him. There can be little doubt that what Adkins has achieved over a few weeks, Pardew could not implement over a season. The set pieces on Saturday showed exactly how to make an opening for a goal scoring opportunity, something that was a rarity previously. Davis is having to roll the ball out to start the attack, wingers stay by the line when we are going forward. All these things I heard Pardew commenting on, but never saw anything concrete develop. I don't know what exactly has gone wrong with Lambert, but he's not as bad as a lot are making out. I saw some worse games from him last season but he does struggle in the second half. Even so, many teams would be more than happy with just a couple of our "lesser" forwards.

Get Ricky back on form and last years goal tally will soon be eclipsed, that's without another loan. Chaplow may not be the best, but he was exactly what we wanted when Barnard went off.

still think we need to do better at corners we never seem to convert corners into anything useful.

Pardew was the perfect diplomat. Was disappointed to do all the prep for the new season and then not be in a position to take it forward. He said he had seen many rumours on the internet about his departure and said none of them were true. He would not / could not comment on the detail but concluded that Cortese had lost faith in his ability to manage the team. He would not comment on NC as a person. Would not offer Adkins advice on 'survival'. He was very complimentary of the quality in the squad. He was very complimentary about the fans who he found to be very supportive. He was sure we would be promoted this season. He was asked about his relationship with Markus and he said he did not know him very well and could not confirm or deny that he had his support either. Wants to be back in game soon.
