Yeah! I'll be there but then again it's a home game for us Terriers!:D

On our day we can beat anyone, as I expect you can so I'm looking forward to a great game between two fancied teams. Despite being at home I reckon you might have the upper hand - mainly because Mr Adkins will know us inside out! That said, I'm pretty confident we'll be fired up for it. Bring em on!

If you pub news etc give me the nod!

Will there be cash on the day gate?

Had a good day out last year but for the result...and the beer wasn't bad either!

Not 100% certain but I'd say it should be pay on the day, the Pink Link Stand holds 4,800.

Meant to say, should any of you need some 'pub advice' then just say so! There's a good number of decent pubs selling proper beer and for the less discerning, loads of lager sheds!

Yes I cant wait for the "idiot away fans" thread next saturday night. It will be a jolly good read i'm sure!

You never know....

Although trips like Huddersfield tend to usually attract a better class of fan. The percentage of bellends in our support is noticibly lower in our away support.

As things stand I am hoping I will be able to get to the game on Saturday, but if there is anyone going from the North East I would still be keen to hear from you. Failing that, a friend of mine from Newcastle will hopefully give me a lift, dropping me off on the way to Manchester, where he is going to watch United play.

Incidentally, I don't think anyone answered the question of whether there will be any tickets on the day. I haven't got a ticket yet and if I can't get one on the day will have to get sorted soon.

Thanks!

Just checked out the train prices for me and my lad from Wigan. £57.60!!!! Even if I reversed all the way there in my car I wouldn't use that much fuel! Looks like I'll be driving as usual.

is that by gold-plated first class carriage? I just tried it on http://ojp.nationalrail.co.uk/en/s/fares/tickets and it came in at £18.40 adult return.

Hi Acetripper

Have been recommended the Sportsman or the Slubbers Arms for us proper-beer fellas.

Have you any guidance / advice on these two, esp if they do food and if there is plenty of parking near by?

cheers mate.

Hi, Both pubs you mention are brilliant real pubs. In fact a good mate of mine owns the 'Sportsman'. I've not sampled any food in there but it looks like good home made traditional pub-grub, and quite rightly Yorkshire pudding with everything. These two pubs do get very busy so if your thinking of going get in there early if you want seats. The Slubbers is a pub that feels like it hasn't changed much since World War 2, in fact you can almost hear air raid sirens. However, they serve a full range of Timothy Taylors Beers that are second to none in my view.

The two pubs that are part of Huddersfield Railway Station are excellent real pubs too. 'The Head of Steam' is to your left as you exit the station and The Kings Head' on the right. Look for the Jimi Hendrix pub sign. Not so sure about food in these two though but 'The Kings' in particular does have a decent range of beers. Over the other side of the town centre 'The Rat and Ratchet' is worth a visit, bit of a walk but it won the Best Pub award by local branch of CAMRA last year with an astounding range of beers.

On a general note, Huddersfield pubs are away fan tolerant but wearing colours does draw the attention of local nutters so one or two don't allow away fans in. The ones that aren't 'away friendly' are easily spotted because they usually have some 'old bill' kicking around outside.

There's plenty on-street parking near the Stadium especially off Leeds Road so you should have no trouble finding somewhere but if you go in the official car parks be warned, they're a pain to get away from.

Have a great day!;)

Reckon I'll give that Slubbers Arms a go after a few in one of the station pubs, love a pint or five of Timothy Taylor Landlord.

If you're anything like me you won't want to waste too much 'drinking time' by walk too far and 'The Slubbers' is a bit of walk from the Station to be honest. Where as 'The Sportsman' is about 5 minutes round the corner!. The Sportsman has Taylors Directors too!:D

Does Wigan come un der The Greater Manchester Transport Area? If not catch a bus or drive to Atherton which certainly is in the area of coverage.

Last year i travelled from Leigh to Huddersfield for about 12 quid return if i remember correctly.

Get and all day GMR rover which is valid on trains, metro/tram thingy and buses. That extends as far as Staly Bridge, so you only need to purchase a day return ticket Staly Bridge to Huddersfield.

Hope you see this message in time .... can't send you a PM .... use a fiver of the money I saved you and sign up LOL!!

EDIT ..... http://www.gmpte.com/journey_planning/tickets_wayfarer.cfm?submenuheader=1

Thanks I'll look into this one in a bit more depth but it still looks like I'll have hit £20 for two and only be at Staly Bridge........I'll look into but thanks again.

This web site only lets me post three times in 24 hours so I couldn't reply to the info requests yesterday! Sorry!

In answer to two questions:

'The Sportsman' does get busy pre-match but in my experience not overly so. It really does depend on whether you want to sit down or not and it can take awhile to get served at the bar.

The other question about places to go at night! I'm not actually from Huddersfield so apart from the pre/post match pubs I've mentioned, I can't really advise too well. From what I've heard the pubs and bars around the University are pretty lively and full of nice 'painted ladies'. But generally I don't think Huddersfield's short of bars etc

Have a good time!:D

Just so you can sing along after some singing juice here's a couple staple Galpharm ditties.

The Town Anthem. (Smile Awhile!) circa 1922

There's a team that is dear to its followers

Their colours are bright Blue and White

They're a team of renown

They're the pride of the Town

And the game of football's their delight!

All the while upon the field of play

Thousands loudly cheer them on their way

Often you can hear them say

'Who can beat the Town today?'

Then the bells shall ring so merrily

Every goal will be a memory

So Town play up and bring the Cup

Back to Huddersfield!

Huddersfield!

Huddersfield!

Huddersfield!

Huddersfield! etc. etc.

Terrors in The UK circa 2009

I am a Yorkshire man

And I am an Hudders fan

I know what I want

And I know how to get it

Got to destroy

Bradford and Leeds

Cos I wanna beee

HTFCccccccccccc.

Come on Saints, sing up now!

I tweeted official Saints and we have sold 856 tickets so far. Come on fellow fans, let's break the 1,000 barrier again, like we did for the Sheff Wed game and give the lads a great backing! COYR's!!

that's not too bad considering our rubbish start to the season, and a fair few went last season, should be about 1100 i reckon once the pay on the day fans are added. that seems to be about our average support north of the midlands. Would be nice to take 2-3k up North at some point this season, Notts County in a couple of weeks should be a good one.

How come with such excellent home crowds you only expect this kind of away following? Is it lack of belief at this stage of the season after a worrying start? Obviously it's a fair distance to travel for a League One game but surly after a five game unbeaten run confidence that this is a promotion year must be flooding back. Basically, I would have expected a club the size of Southampton to have brought well over 2000 to a game of this magnitude. Added to which, I can gather you have fans all over the country including plenty up t'north. Perhaps they'll all come and pay-on-the-day!

That said, I genuinely hope the '****heads' that have been talked about on here stay at home because while our fans don't normally cause trouble, if trouble starts they're as bad as anyone else. No one would want any immature silliness to spoil what should be a great day out for the majority of fans. Lets all hope it passes off peacefully and we all have a good time watching our beloved teams.

Score? Well it's another head and heart situation for me because I'm totally confused! My head says, a close game that could go 1-0 to either team or maybe a draw. My heart says the Terriers turn on the kind of form we've only really seen glimpses of this season and win with a three goal margin. I believe we really are capable of that but as with last season we're still something of Jekyll & Hyde side. So who knows?;)

I have a spare train seat with London Saints-leaving Kings X at 9.15am and arriving Hudders at 12.05pm

£28.

I also have spare match ticket-though this will need to be traded up to an adult on account of my 15year old injuring himself playing footie and can't make tomorrow.

Any takers-text me-Simon 07738587924
