Bournemouth chairman "not welcome" directors box (sigh)

I am surprised that the cherries didn't make more of disputing the clear written report on our OS, (stating Howe had not been offered the job,) if they were confident he had. I don't think they are sure he was.

Their chairman stuck to his guns on solent but only went as fat as saying -"based on the information I had". Blaming someone else for false info?

Howe said yesterday that it was water under the bridge and seemed reluctant to back his chairman.

I suspect this was part of longer interview so he may say more today before the game and confirm he was offered but at the moment think their chairman is looking a mug - but sure their fans will love his anti-saints rhetoric.

I'm feeling very convinced that somebody rang Eddie Howe when the S****horpe chairman went public and difficult and asked the very reasonable qurestion "are you still interested", trying to sort out plan B is the succession. EH didn't fancy being second choice and said "no thanks". He then felt obliged to tell his boss about his decision and probably said something like "I've turned down Southampton". Their chairman took that to mean that he had turned down the job he had been offered, which patently hadn't happened. He then, and that is the silly stuff, felt obliged to shout his version of events to the local media, which created the first bit of nonsense. EH is now in the unenviable position to steer his boss right by essentially pointing out that he has behaved like a prat. EH feels awkward, because who wants to call their boss a prat?

Chairman, emboldened by his good fortune in the press, then decided to wind up the interest for the local derby some more by wildly accusing NC of banning him from the club, still believing that his outburst about the offered job was correct. He also completely neglects to mention that he didn't pay for the champagne he and his friends swilled whilst at SMS last. I don't think there is anything in this which is to his credit.

Nor, to the credit of the S****horpe chairman. Both were far to eager to be noticed, pretending to be big cheeses. This is really a moral lesson in the nature and character of club owners. With whatever mistakes having been made by somebody with no experience of managing in the glare of the media before, I think I'll still to our chairman any day.

Well its no secret he became increasingly fed up with how the club was being run and i suspect he was pro pardew.

By inference, he wasn't pro Souness, Jones, Hoddle, Redknapp, Burley or Dutchmen then. FFS.

Its equally no secret he was kept on because he knew the ropes in this transitional period between old and new regime. Perhaps his job is done, and in common with the rest of the set-up we are going to appoint a Premier league FD?

I do not expect any clarification from this privately owned company on this back office support function decision, nor do I need any.
