Saint Without a Halo Posted 28 September, 2010 Share Posted 28 September, 2010 At the beginning of the season we said 10 games would show our real quality! next Saturday against Bournemouth is our 10th!
InvictaSaint Posted 28 September, 2010 Share Posted 28 September, 2010 There's really no point in trying to be optimistic, or looking for bright spots. This team is NOT good enough and it hasn't been since pre-season. Yes. What is the point in completing the season? Let's just give up now and end it all. FFS. rocknrollman no2 Posted 28 September, 2010 Share Posted 28 September, 2010 Seems like we are taking more steps back, than forward. Dont know what is making our good team of last season be a poor team this season and i dont think taking Antonio and Papa away is excuse enough. I think we will be stuck in this godforsaken league for a lot longer yet.
Liquidshokk Posted 28 September, 2010 Share Posted 28 September, 2010 Seabourne (according to BBC text commentary) so basically, jaidi was good at times but taters said he also lacked pace at times and fonte wasn't played (??) and seabourne gives away a penalty... clean sheet (in open play) at least but something wrong with the defensive decisions there. Saints foreva Posted 28 September, 2010 Share Posted 28 September, 2010 Can we take Lambert out of the SaintsWeb banner? It's similar to the Simon Gillett sponsorship last season, he's been cack since going in! Lambert OUT of the banner.
martyg1950 Posted 28 September, 2010 Share Posted 28 September, 2010 Dissapointing but, if we win on Saturday (which we CAN) then 7 points from 9 is going the right way.
EBS1980 Posted 28 September, 2010 Share Posted 28 September, 2010 Think we have missed Lallana but i think the difference is Lamberts goals last season vs lack of them this season. The Wago and Antonio point is just a quick player from the bench which we don't have either.
buctootim Posted 28 September, 2010 Share Posted 28 September, 2010 (edited) christ, that makes it look worse - sure it's only 111 points to play for? if we want auto promotion we can only realistically drop around 15-20 more points. That's going to be one hell of an effort from the position we're in. Automatic with 90 points and playoffs with 80 imo. Need to get 81 from 111 for automatic , or 71 from 111 if we fancy our chances of winning the playoffs lottery. If we just continued the form from the last three games that would be enough for the playoffs. With a fit and on form Lambert and Lallana things could be very different. Mr Saints Posted 28 September, 2010 Share Posted 28 September, 2010 Well aware I am sounding like an arrogant arse but 1 all at Yeovil a good result? **** off is it a good result. Players need really need to pull it out the bag in the coming weeks/months cos this is nowhere near good enough. Someone needs to remind the players that sitting just above the relegation in the 3rd tier is not good enough for Southampton Football CLub
S-Clarke Posted 28 September, 2010 Share Posted 28 September, 2010 Automatic with 90 points and playoffs with 80 imo. Need to get 81 from 111 really big ask, we need to start winning games like tonight! I thought we were a shoe in for at least 2nd place, but it's looking incredibly doubtful now. Chap in the Chapel Posted 28 September, 2010 Share Posted 28 September, 2010 Just leaving the game. We deserved a win tonight, no doubt, and were far better than Yeovil. Guly very unlucky at the end, really good goal though. Hammond man of the match, tireless and drove us on. We've moved from clueless and getting beaten to about where we were at the start of last season. We do need more options up front but we defend well and moved the ball nicely at times. We will get there with Adkins, whether it's this season depends on reinforcing the forward line. 37 games to go - don't chuck it in yet.
saint_stevo Posted 28 September, 2010 Share Posted 28 September, 2010 i should just look at the database load stats to work out what's happening we're going to investigate moving the database onto a separate server - there are pros and cons to doing it, so we need to weigh it all up. The main "con" is the cost and the added complexity, but if it runs faster then ultimately it'll probably be worth it. like

Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 28 September, 2010 Share Posted 28 September, 2010 So utterly dismayed with tonight's result it's untrue. It's time to front up now Cortese. If we haven't got any cash for loans, just bloody say it and at least we can rein in our expectations a bit. If we are able to bring in some loans, then f**king do it. Getting to the Prem in 50 years looks like it's more realistic from the bottom of my pint glass tonight.

Chap in the Chapel Posted 28 September, 2010 Share Posted 28 September, 2010 Lambert pretty poor. Needs a goal desperately - six inches lower and he would have had one first half. He missed badly with a volley from a rehearsed corner routine. Last season he would have scored that. It was like the MK Dons goal in the home league game last season, but he scuffed it. I'm disappointed we didn't win too, but no-one's ever been promoted after nine games. We will get better - we can't expect to win games on our "big city club" name alone though. We have to earn the results, especially away, and we are moving towards that state. Adkins will get us there if he can add to the attack. We will be heading the right way given time. sfc6mufc3 Posted 28 September, 2010 Share Posted 28 September, 2010 When you look at the table and look at the teams below us you know we are in bad shape. I never thought we'd be 17th going into October prior to the start of the season but we must take hope from 4 pts from 2 games away from home, but only if we start performing better at home. On the plus side that's 2 games in a row we have scored in - yippee

wessex saint Posted 28 September, 2010 Share Posted 28 September, 2010 My god!! For a bunch of people listening to a game on a radio you certainly seem to have incredible vision!! Lots of 'points' being made about who played well and who didn't. Jeez... reading your comments makes me want to end it all! The TWO fans who actually went to the game were pretty positive about our performance (guess that won't be you again then Alps) Adkins has been around about 2 and a bit weeks with games coming thick and fast. Give the guy a little bit longer to get the best out of the players and get us promoted. We're still only a few points and a good run off getting to the top. angelman Posted 28 September, 2010 Share Posted 28 September, 2010 Just back - we were pretty bad from Kelvin to Ricky. When AL came on as sub, things did change for the better and I thought RL sparked up a bit. He seemed to have got a bit frustrated earlier on in the game and I would possibly have subbed him rather than LB. If we play like that, I can't see any chance of getting promoted. There seemed to be a lot of people static wanting the ball when they were in a dead end. When we scored, the build had some good passing that was sorely lacking from most of the rest of the game. Disappointing. A very poor game.

First time I've seen Guly-dunno what all the moanings been about he seemed alright. Harding looked good, as did Jaidi, and Schniederlin. Lallana definately improved us when he came on. Professor Posted 28 September, 2010 Share Posted 28 September, 2010 we are 17th with 9 points same time last season - we were bottom with -1, Norwich were 14th with 10 points Leeds were top with 25 points Millwall were 12th with 10 This means we have got the same 9 points this season that we had last year at the same stage, but last year we had the excuse of players still coming into the side during Aug and Sept. It is true that if the team is transformed and begins to win games the picture will improve, but last October, with new players settling in, we won 5 league games and drew 1, with 15 goals for and 6 against. Does anyone expect us to do that on the basis of the current form of the current squad? The one bright spot is Adkins' criticism of the players in his post-match notes, and that he feels they are not playing to his instructions. Maybe some of them are not up to it, but at least he is telling them how it can be done.
