Yeovil 1-1 Saints - Post-match reactions

christ, that makes it look worse - sure it's only 111 points to play for?

if we want auto promotion we can only realistically drop around 15-20 more points. That's going to be one hell of an effort from the position we're in.

Automatic with 90 points and playoffs with 80 imo. Need to get 81 from 111 for automatic , or 71 from 111 if we fancy our chances of winning the playoffs lottery. If we just continued the form from the last three games that would be enough for the playoffs. With a fit and on form Lambert and Lallana things could be very different.

Well aware I am sounding like an arrogant arse but 1 all at Yeovil a good result?

**** off is it a good result. Players need really need to pull it out the bag in the coming weeks/months cos this is nowhere near good enough.

Someone needs to remind the players that sitting just above the relegation in the 3rd tier is not good enough for Southampton Football CLub

Just leaving the game. We deserved a win tonight, no doubt, and were far better than Yeovil. Guly very unlucky at the end, really good goal though. Hammond man of the match, tireless and drove us on. We've moved from clueless and getting beaten to about where we were at the start of last season. We do need more options up front but we defend well and moved the ball nicely at times. We will get there with Adkins, whether it's this season depends on reinforcing the forward line. 37 games to go - don't chuck it in yet.

i should just look at the database load stats to work out what's happening

we're going to investigate moving the database onto a separate server - there are pros and cons to doing it, so we need to weigh it all up. The main "con" is the cost and the added complexity, but if it runs faster then ultimately it'll probably be worth it.

thanks, good to hear the views from someone there.

There's just a general air of disappointment as we couldn't hold onto a winning position, it would have made such a difference.

So utterly dismayed with tonight's result it's untrue. It's time to front up now Cortese. If we haven't got any cash for loans, just bloody say it and at least we can rein in our expectations a bit. If we are able to bring in some loans, then f**king do it. Getting to the Prem in 50 years looks like it's more realistic from the bottom of my pint glass tonight.

Probably should've read your post before making mine but still so dismayed. Have to be winning these games, if we want go up, have to. How was Lambert? Glad to hear Deano is turning his game around.

Sounded as only Snerderlin was the only player up for it. Hammond anonymous again. !!!?

Let's go with the people who were actually at the game shall we rather than making stuff up.

Should be beating Yeovil ideally, shame we're not in an ideal scenario. Let's hope we can push on and get those home wins now. We're still only 10 points off the top (glass half full you'll note Alpine)

We were only 10 points off the top when last season started, and that was apparently insurmountable. And now we have 9 games less.

Forget it. Aint going to happen...

I'm still holding hope for 2nd position, but i wanted to see us win the league so bad.

I don't think i'm ever going to see my club top of any league in my life time.

There's really no point in trying to be optimistic, or looking for bright spots. This team is NOT good enough and it hasn't been since pre-season.

The warning signs were there in pre-season but as they were deemed only " practice/fitness " games few people on here could see what may happen and certainly nobody at the club.

Have to agree with Alpine. Bad mistakes have been made with pre season, management and player retention/recruitment. Blame who you will whether it be Pardew or Cortese.

I'm sure they loved getting dicked 6-4 at home having been 4-2 at half time! I only listened via the radio but it hardly sounds as if we can see the barn door at the moment let alone get a chance to hit it with a banjo I don't know the stats but we can't have made the gk work all that hard tonight. What is really miffing is the fact so many players sounded like they weren't wearing the corrrect footwear so couldnt stay upright long enough to get off a shot!

Lambert pretty poor. Needs a goal desperately - six inches lower and he would have had one first half. He missed badly with a volley from a rehearsed corner routine. Last season he would have scored that. It was like the MK Dons goal in the home league game last season, but he scuffed it. I'm disappointed we didn't win too, but no-one's ever been promoted after nine games. We will get better - we can't expect to win games on our "big city club" name alone though. We have to earn the results, especially away, and we are moving towards that state. Adkins will get us there if he can add to the attack. We will be heading the right way given time.

we are 17th with 9 points

same time last season -

we were bottom with -1,

Norwich were 14th with 10 points

Leeds were top with 25 points

Millwall were 12th with 10

so we are 1 point behind 2 of the 3 teams promoted last season

Cheers Nick. Puts things in perspective eh?

When you look at the table and look at the teams below us you know we are in bad shape.

I never thought we'd be 17th going into October prior to the start of the season but we must take hope from 4 pts from 2 games away from home, but only if we start performing better at home.

On the plus side that's 2 games in a row we have scored in - yippee

Hope you're right.

Seems we can give up on bringing anyone in though as adkins talks like he has been given instruction to make do with what we have.

Just got back from the game. Didn't actually play that badly.

Seaborne looked much better than i'd seen him previously.

Schneiderlin was brilliant, and Hammond - whilst he probably wasn't mentioned much on the radio - was better than i'd ever seen him.

Something still not right with Lambert.

Pretty much all of note.

Highlight of the night for me - seeing my brother (a Saints supporting Yeovil steward) on the receiving end of the chant "your coats too big for you" from the Saints end.

37 games left have nine points need at least 71 more for playoffs So need 20 wins 11 draws, have my doubts this squad can do it?

My god!! For a bunch of people listening to a game on a radio you certainly seem to have incredible vision!!

Lots of 'points' being made about who played well and who didn't. Jeez... reading your comments makes me want to end it all!

The TWO fans who actually went to the game were pretty positive about our performance (guess that won't be you again then Alps)

Adkins has been around about 2 and a bit weeks with games coming thick and fast.

Give the guy a little bit longer to get the best out of the players and get us promoted.

We're still only a few points and a good run off getting to the top.

Just back - we were pretty bad from Kelvin to Ricky. When AL came on as sub, things did change for the better and I thought RL sparked up a bit. He seemed to have got a bit frustrated earlier on in the game and I would possibly have subbed him rather than LB.

If we play like that, I can't see any chance of getting promoted. There seemed to be a lot of people static wanting the ball when they were in a dead end. When we scored, the build had some good passing that was sorely lacking from most of the rest of the game.

Disappointing. A very poor game.

We're doomed - I say we're doomed!

Alpine please calm down we're only 8 from second and we play them on Saturday plus unbeaten in 3 followed by Tranmere at home.....

Back from the game.

Good points: Hammond looked pretty good. First time I've seen Guly-dunno what all the moanings been about he seemed alright. Harding looked good, as did Jaidi, and Schniederlin. Lallana definately improved us when he came on. Petrol at Asda there was cheap.

Bad points: Kelvin Davis had a bad game with a couple of blunders he was lucky to get away with. Rickie didn't seem up for it. I'm soggy.

Have been out tonight was hoping for better after saturday. Still I'm not expecting much from this season now so I can just go and enjoy the games at SMS without the favorite tag/ promotion is assured crap gettting in the way. Mid table this year then, re-build in the summer and have another go next year and another crack at the JPT great.

This means we have got the same 9 points this season that we had last year at the same stage, but last year we had the excuse of players still coming into the side during Aug and Sept.

It is true that if the team is transformed and begins to win games the picture will improve, but last October, with new players settling in, we won 5 league games and drew 1, with 15 goals for and 6 against. Does anyone expect us to do that on the basis of the current form of the current squad?

The one bright spot is Adkins' criticism of the players in his post-match notes, and that he feels they are not playing to his instructions. Maybe some of them are not up to it, but at least he is telling them how it can be done.
