Not any better than what we already have (I'm well aware we only have 2 fit strikers). Struggled to make any kind of impact at Huddersfield last season. Would rather sign ALF on a loan with a view to a permanent move.

thats 3 liverpool players we have been linked with in 2 days..........i'm guessing the journo's saw Cortese and Adkins at the Liverpool v Chelsea ressies match and have just been guessing ever since.

It's obviously Kakuta

Why would Rotherham EVER agree to that?! They would surely hang on to him until January rather than loaning him

Have you seen him play that much?

Why are we preferring players we don't know we can afford/convince to come here? I'd prefer Le Fondre, but there are many players I'd like us to sign that we can't. I seriously doubt it's an Ecclestone/Le Fondre choice for Adkins.

Plus, Pitman scored loads in L2 but isnt worth what Bristol C paid for him. ALF may not be any better...

Why was Cortese at the game

What is his role in getting in players

Is that a loaded question? Signs the cheques - tries and makes the deal with the other club?

Or you could have he vetoes everytning - no player is signed unless Cortese likes the cut ofhis jib.

Horses head on his pillow if he upsets him.

I know for a fact that Cortese doesn't get involved in the TALKS with a player, including contract offering. Not sure if it came to a negotiation scenario though, I presume he would make an offer the player couldn't refuse?!

Yeah saw him play quite a bit for Huddersfield last season and didn't rate him. Wouldn't have commented if not.

yeah, mentioned this on the loan thread. If its Liverpool reserve players we are after id rather have Shelvey

I'm not so sure. Havent we had a couple of liverpool loanees before that did well for us?

Darren Potter and Danny Guthrie too. Guthrie looked a real player. Not too surprising he is now at a club the size of Newcastle

Whilst Potter is at Sheff Weds.

It's pretty obvious from this Daily Mail article that that's exactly what they're doing:

From Football365:

"Ideas Above Station

Heard of Nathan Eccleston? If not, here's a brief CV: Scored one goal for Huddersfield in a four-month loan spell last season, yet to score for Liverpool in five appearances, missed penalty v Northampton in Carling Cup shoot-out.

Here's his tweet when asked why he did not respond to all questions from his 'fans' on Twitter: '@nonleagueshaun ha if I was to reply to every1 msgs I'd be all day.. Its like y doesn't god answer every1 prayers?"

The Wilkins connection is there too, Chelsea do have some good youngsters now, would be nice to get a striker or midfielder on loan.

Agreed. Kakuta would be an amazing loan signing, but he's virtually an ever present on the bench (or seems to be whenever I check) - Josh McEachran would also be a top loan signing, but Ancelotti says he's staying put.

I seem to recall Chelsea having a young Italian striker called Fabio Borini, who made a few first appearances last year. Anyone know whether he played in either or both of the reserve games we've been represented at. Must be pretty decent if he's played some first team games, so maybe he's someone we're looking at and they'd like to get more first team chances somewhere?

Just for the doubters.

Whoever the heck the Chelsea number 10 was, smallish white lad was **** hot. Could'nt see alot as I was in the top office watched about 35minutes of it, he was box to box and some fantastic link play, taking the ball from the CB's would pass out wide, then would create an option, attack the edge and thread some fantastically weighted balls inside the back 4. Similair mould to Lallana but was a ball winnner.

As I was leaving I saw a bloke in the acadamey building, which is to the left of the first team 'base' and he had a Saints tee on with Coach in those ghey italics under the badge, NEVER seen him before.

Sorry about any spelling, really CBA

judging by this we don't need any of their players http://www.chelseafc.com/page/TheAcademyNews/0,,10268~2165823,00.html

on a slight off-topic note, Chelski had a player who came on in that game called Adam Nditi, he lives in Basingstoke (originally from Tanzania) and is a Saints fan.

very good talent. I remember I refereed his first game for Down Grange under 13's and he scored 8 in the first half and got taken off because "it was unfair on the other team"

I did hear NC is studying for his badges. Personally I think it's rubbish as it was third-hand from a connection in the club, so don't shoot the messenger.

haha I've heard of player managers but a chairman manager...........;)
