So'ton Gig Thread

Saw Paul Weller again last night, woefully dissapointed at the fact he played most of his new songs at the expense of the classics. He needs to stop trying to be current and get on with playing what he does best.

PLUS i missed an encore as the missus was steaming, PLUS i tore my hamstring falling down a curb on a late night munch hunt.

09/12/2010 (Thu) - @ Joiners • THE BLUETONES • MARRIED TO THE SEA • SUPPORTS TBC

Joiners?

Are you going. Shame to say The Bluetones are probably still my fav band over the last 15 years :(

Ah, Joiners then. Dunno yet, still trying to convince a couple of people to go (whilst also trying to convince them how good The Bluetones actually are!)

Again not Southampton but saw Leftfield on Friday at the Old Opera House in Bournemouth. Top night ... has to go down as the loudest gig I have been to......my ears are still ringing today !

I went to this, pretty sure all my internal organs are now in a different place. The noise was awesome.

Updated the OP with some more gigs for the first few months of the New Year. If you're in a band, or know a good band that are playing in Soton, feel free to post on this thread to give us some more info about it.

Of the new gigs on the list, I really recommend going to see Yuck, The Duke Spirit and Reel Big Fish. 3 quite different bands, but they are all excellent live and well worth seeing.

Happy gigging!

Bring Me The Horizon are at the Guildhall on April 27th. Sound might be atrocious given how bad it often is in there and the heaviness of the band, but I can't turn down a chance to see them on my doorstep :D

Decent support too (Architects, Parkway Drive, Devil Wears Prada).

Yes, I'll be there for that one. Should be 'interesting' given the sound in the Guildhall...

They were. Didn't think much of the lot before them though, although Defiled were pretty good. Glad to find I wasn't the only Saint braving that sh1thole!

Black Veil Brides. Their album is good if you like that sort of thing. I dont normally but am quite a fan. However Murderdolls were on fire!

Limehouse Lizzy at the Brook tonight, cool.

Haven't seen them since i lived in London, good times.

Boll*cks, been waiting to see them again. Have seen them 3-4 times and only said last night that if a mate of mine got a chance to see limehouse they are well worth it.

On another note Paul Weller is confirmed at the Kings of Leon Hyde park gigs.

Great times.

Not Soton, but I've booked myself tickets for the Dot to Dot festival in Bristol. Yeah, not too bothered by the headliners (Hurts, We Are Scientists etc) but there are a lot of little gems like BRAIDS playing in small bars. It's worth checking out.

I think dohery tickets are available on the door, i'll be there, he's got to do some libertines tunes.

He embellishes his set with a good dollop of Libs and Babyshambles tunes. When I saw him at Glasto in 2009, he did about 15-20 minutes of only Libertines and Babyshambles songs, as well as 'For Lovers' - the song he wrote with Wolfman.

I'm going tonight. Been watching them set up all day as I'm working up there at the moment in the hall behind the stage. Well looking forward to seeing him again and no doubt he will chuck a few Libs tracks in the mix.
