Huffton Posted 25 September, 2010 Posted 25 September, 2010 Was told at the start of the week that Fonte had put in a transfer request. Didn't post it at the time as I didn't want to believe it and still don't, however does his exclusion today point to it being true?
alpine_saint Posted 25 September, 2010 Posted 25 September, 2010 S-Clark just posted he has a "thigh strain" Whatever. If he has and wants to play for us, then I am happy as long as he looks like he is arsed when he comes back. If not, probably best for all if he f**ks off.
Saint_clark Posted 25 September, 2010 Posted 25 September, 2010 They'd have said he picked up an injury rather than "is carrying a knock and will return tuesday".
merrimd Posted 25 September, 2010 Posted 25 September, 2010 You are going always going to struggle to get a transfer outside of the transfer window, unless it is to the skates of course!
S-Clarke Posted 25 September, 2010 Posted 25 September, 2010 He has a thigh strain as confirmed on Solent before the game.
Matthew Le God Posted 25 September, 2010 Posted 25 September, 2010 Was told at the start of the week that Fonte had put in a transfer request. Didn't post it at the time as I didn't want to believe it and still don't, however does his exclusion today point to it being true? He has a thigh strain and should be back for the Yeovil game on Tuesday.
saint_stevo Posted 25 September, 2010 Posted 25 September, 2010 Scare mongering. I suppose Martin is off as well?!
Huffton Posted 25 September, 2010 Author Posted 25 September, 2010 No you numpty! Good, well reasoned reply.
craigthesaint Posted 25 September, 2010 Posted 25 September, 2010 Exactly what i heard from someone based over at Staplewood but like yourself Huffton I didn't want to say anything as you know what happens to those that stick their head above the parapit.... The only thing about what i was told was it is not exactly clear when he handed it in as I got told about him handing it in last Sunday but my contact didn't know whether that was pre/post Adkins?
sfc4prem Posted 25 September, 2010 Posted 25 September, 2010 If he wants to go, let him go. It'll be a shame, but we need players who are comitted and want to play for us.
niceandfriendly Posted 25 September, 2010 Posted 25 September, 2010 Good, well reasoned reply. It was to be fair.
Sussex Saint Posted 25 September, 2010 Posted 25 September, 2010 I hope not. He's arguably one of our best players.
David Strover Posted 25 September, 2010 Posted 25 September, 2010 He must be pretty stupid to hand in a transfer request when he can't be transferred.
moon monkey Posted 25 September, 2010 Posted 25 September, 2010 It is funny how these stories always say 'I was told at the start of the week but wasn't going to say until now.' Complete and utter sandra bullocks
Turkish Posted 25 September, 2010 Posted 25 September, 2010 FFS, yet another, player gets injured and wants to leave thread.
saintscottofthenortham Posted 25 September, 2010 Posted 25 September, 2010 Hmmmm... Hand in transfer request as soon as the Transfer Window closes? Think not. They would have said he has some sort of serious injury and will be out for some time if they were trying to cover something, not say that he will be back for tuesday.
SNSUN Posted 25 September, 2010 Posted 25 September, 2010 I hope not. He's arguably one of our best players. This. With the inexperience of Martin and the lack of faith by supporters in Jaidi and Seaborne, it'd be a big loss. Ok, he can't go until January if it's true, and we'll bring in someone else, but finding a player of his quality to replace him will be nigh on impossible. That said, Jaids and Seebee kept a clean sheet today, although from the sounds of it that was more to do with Davis's saves.
Weston Saint Posted 25 September, 2010 Posted 25 September, 2010 Fonte dropped down a division becasue he believed Pardew and the team he had put together would get immediate promotion back to the Championship. He looked pretty devistated at the end of the season when that did not happen and with our stuttered start this, perhaps he felt enough was enough...or perhaps it had to do with Pardews dismissal...or perhaps it is pure speculation based on false whispers. He is with us until at least the opening of the next transfer window, is an important part of the team and strategy and I am sure Adkins will be able to show him that this season we will achieve our goal. But, it is all speculation. It might be just as reported, a thigh strain. A 1-0 away win without him should calm a few nerves. Don't knock the poster for putting the rumour up.

I'll go for pre.
sadoldgit Posted 25 September, 2010 Posted 25 September, 2010 Apparently someone put a transfer request in the day the window closed. Perhaps it was him?
benjii Posted 25 September, 2010 Posted 25 September, 2010 If only Lambert and Lallana hadn't left as well we wouldn't be so screwed. I wish Wenger would leave Schneiderlin alone too.
Window Cleaner Posted 25 September, 2010 Posted 25 September, 2010 F He is with us until at least the opening of the next transfer window, is an important part of the team and strategy and I am sure Adkins will be able to show him that this season we will achieve our goal. Don't knock the poster for putting the rumour up. we could always loan him out pending a permanent deal in January, maybe he wants to go back to Palarse, I'm sure there'd be plenty of takers for him.
Huffton Posted 25 September, 2010 Author Posted 25 September, 2010 It is funny how these stories always say 'I was told at the start of the week but wasn't going to say until now.' Complete and utter sandra bullocks I hope your right. To be honest when I was told my reaction was the same as yours, however him suddenly being 'injured' today may add some credence to it, especially if any of the Pardew rumours have any truth.
del boy Posted 25 September, 2010 Posted 25 September, 2010 Was told at the start of the week that Fonte had put in a transfer request. Didn't post it at the time as I didn't want to believe it and still don't, however does his exclusion today point to it being true? Why have you posted this then - if you don't believe it?
Huffton Posted 25 September, 2010 Author Posted 25 September, 2010 Why have you posted this then - if you don't believe it? It doesn't say I don't believe it, it says I don't WANT to believe it.
Pilchards Posted 25 September, 2010 Posted 25 September, 2010 I told you this a month ago he handed in a transfer request BUT the matter has been solved and everything is okay now.
Turkish Posted 25 September, 2010 Posted 25 September, 2010 I told you this a month ago he handed in a transfer request BUT the matter has been solved and everything is okay now. Do you know what the problem was?
Katalinic Posted 25 September, 2010 Posted 25 September, 2010 Do you know what the problem was? Not exactly rocket science Turkish.
Turkish Posted 25 September, 2010 Posted 25 September, 2010 Not exactly rocket science Turkish. I didn't believe those rumours.
Saints foreva Posted 25 September, 2010 Posted 25 September, 2010 Who thought we would be on the end of a hammering when he wasn't in the team? I certainly did.
Katalinic Posted 25 September, 2010 Posted 25 September, 2010 (edited) I didn't believe those rumours. No comment Edited 25 September, 2010 by Katalinic smiley winky thing
dockland Dave Posted 25 September, 2010 Posted 25 September, 2010 Quite believable. I think it is human nature to try and dismiss the truth when you don;t want to believe it
Kingsland Red Posted 25 September, 2010 Posted 25 September, 2010 I didn't believe those rumours. You are obviously not a regular at the Newport Inn Braishfield, Turkish !
saint_mears Posted 25 September, 2010 Posted 25 September, 2010 Well another twist on Fonte wanting to leave could be a rumoured offer from QPR in the summer that was turned down. He prefers living in london by all accounts.
Window Cleaner Posted 25 September, 2010 Posted 25 September, 2010 He prefers living in london by all accounts. Kent
Turkish Posted 25 September, 2010 Posted 25 September, 2010 You are obviously not a regular at the Newport Inn Braishfield, Turkish ! sadly not, seems like i am missing out!
del boy Posted 25 September, 2010 Posted 25 September, 2010 It doesn't say I don't believe it, it says I don't WANT to believe it. fair enough
Gorgiesaint Posted 25 September, 2010 Posted 25 September, 2010 we could always loan him out pending a permanent deal in January, maybe he wants to go back to Palarse, I'm sure there'd be plenty of takers for him. With Burley in charge? I doubt it unless he wants guaranteed L1 football next season.
Window Cleaner Posted 25 September, 2010 Posted 25 September, 2010 With Burley in charge? I doubt it unless he wants guaranteed L1 football next season. I forgot about Burley being there, see Palarse got crapped on again today, why people hire burley beats me, same as Paul Hart ..
Matthew Le God Posted 25 September, 2010 Posted 25 September, 2010 I forgot about Burley being there, see Palarse got crapped on again today, why people hire burley beats me, same as Paul Hart .. Also if Saints were to sell him, he'd cost roughly £2m, which Palace couldn't afford.
saint_mears Posted 25 September, 2010 Posted 25 September, 2010 Kent Unlikely as he has flat in west london.
ottery st mary Posted 25 September, 2010 Posted 25 September, 2010 Well another twist on Fonte wanting to leave could be a rumoured offer from QPR in the summer that was turned down. He prefers living in london by all accounts. Warnock would be the man and Fonte would be good for them. If he wants away..can see him going on loan etc transfer January... IS it true though?
Pilchards Posted 25 September, 2010 Posted 25 September, 2010 3rd hand this. He was not happy during the last AP days so his agent puts the feeders out. Blackpool was interested and this made Fonte's head turn. I don't know if we refused it or not or even got an offer at all. However Mr Fonte is happier now that AP had left It was mentioned to me'. Third hand as I say so I would not bet it was 100% true as chinese whisper is a scary thing.
hackedoff Posted 25 September, 2010 Posted 25 September, 2010 You are obviously not a regular at the Newport Inn Braishfield, Turkish ! Time warp pub, not been in there for a few years but it looked like it hasn,t had a penny spent on it for a century. Mate used his mobile and everyone gathered around to see what it was. Very strange.
Phil the Saint Posted 25 September, 2010 Posted 25 September, 2010 You are obviously not a regular at the Newport Inn Braishfield, Turkish ! Great proper pub! But what has happened in there recently then?
Kingsland Red Posted 26 September, 2010 Posted 26 September, 2010 Nice quiet location for clandestine meetings - nudge nudge wink wink, say no more !!!!!
Badger Posted 26 September, 2010 Posted 26 September, 2010 Well another twist on Fonte wanting to leave could be a rumoured offer from QPR in the summer that was turned down. He prefers living in london by all accounts. I've thought for some time that the Warnock connection might be a problem in holding on to Fonte.
COMEONYOUREDS Posted 26 September, 2010 Posted 26 September, 2010 FFS I don't believe this rumour. BUT, if it is true then he can do one, we don't need players who are not 100% committed to the cause.
