Exactly what i heard from someone based over at Staplewood but like yourself Huffton I didn't want to say anything as you know what happens to those that stick their head above the parapit.... The only thing about what i was told was it is not exactly clear when he handed it in as I got told about him handing it in last Sunday but my contact didn't know whether that was pre/post Adkins?

This. With the inexperience of Martin and the lack of faith by supporters in Jaidi and Seaborne, it'd be a big loss. Ok, he can't go until January if it's true, and we'll bring in someone else, but finding a player of his quality to replace him will be nigh on impossible.

 

That said, Jaids and Seebee kept a clean sheet today, although from the sounds of it that was more to do with Davis's saves.

Fonte dropped down a division becasue he believed Pardew and the team he had put together would get immediate promotion back to the Championship. He looked pretty devistated at the end of the season when that did not happen and with our stuttered start this, perhaps he felt enough was enough...or perhaps it had to do with Pardews dismissal...or perhaps it is pure speculation based on false whispers.

 

He is with us until at least the opening of the next transfer window, is an important part of the team and strategy and I am sure Adkins will be able to show him that this season we will achieve our goal. But, it is all speculation. It might be just as reported, a thigh strain.

I've thought for some time that the Warnock connection might be a problem in holding on to Fonte.
