GM was one of the few contributors that I'd stop to read the postings from, rather than skim over like I do for so many.

There must, surely, have been something said or happen by private message to warrant it. If he was indeed banned as a result of #81 and #82 then this forum is more f***ed up than we already think.

Agreed.

Too many people with little man syndrome on here me thinks

I got told off for posting to much in one night, well starting to many threads!! I thought the idea was to post what you wanted (Lounge) then others on here decide if they want to reply. If they do not then the post clears off out of the bottom of the screen. if they do then it is kept alive until it has reached it limit?

It was one night I posted about 6 I think (new threads) and I got told off for spamming! A 35 year old married man with two kids who works in accounts, and has been on this board, Saintsforever and the Ugly Inside since the turn of the century. JOKE!!!

To be fair, they were quite possibly the dullest, nosiest threads in 10 years of being on this forum. On this occasion the mods were right to tell you off.

I think you are missing the point. Surely it is the idea of the lounge and as long as I am not offending anyone, then it is down to the people who use the baord to decide if they post on them? Ok asmit the favourite ones do not really work, but 3 of the threads are on to page 2, so some find them interesting? Blah!

The provocative but thought provoking posters get banned, along with the subversive comedians. They were what made this site worthwhile. Now we have provocative without insight and subversive without wit. Not a great combination

Blimey. Post #81 and #82 got Misselbrook banned.

Did he hit some sort of raw nerve with the mods ?

If "contravening the quite simple rules in place and ignoring a fairly explicit warning/reminder about libel and the stance that we feel we have to take on it counts as "hitting some sort of raw nerve" then yes, guilty as charged. He'll be back in two weeks.

There are many contributors on this site who are either well-respected or interesting (and even occasionally a combination of both ;)), and many who have been posting on this forum and its predecessors for years, but that does not give them carte blanche to post things that could get them - and, by association and most importantly from a selfish point of view, us as admins - in trouble.

I too, cant see any reason for the banning of GM as a result of his posts on this thread. Just as when others went the same way it would be nice to know why. After all, we are crying out on here for Cortese to be more open and explain his decisions, so pots, kettles, blackness etc.

As often said in Private Eye. "I think we should be told."

P.S. Bring back Kardeem Harrison!!

PPS Sorry Steve. Crossed in the post.

well it offended me as it was so f*cking tedious.

The only thing I can see GM did wrong was posting a PM on the main board.

While I see that can be rightly condemned, I think banning him for what he posted was harsh.

I think what is frustrating a lot of people is simple.

We are now having to pay to fully use a messageboard that was better when it was free.

He wasn't banned for anything on this thread, although we'd prefer people didn't post private messages on here. He was banned for posting a seperate, potentially libelous, thread which has since been deleted.

I dont, but you go easy on the number of your posts, you hear me.

You did post on one, but I will not tell anyone. I promise to keep my post count down.

and this is what I don't get.

Why an interesting poster can get banned for posting one dubious thread when someone like scooby for example, could spend well over a year spamming and posting libellously on here constantly without being banned

Who and where?

As I said, interesting poster or not, it does not put them above the rules that are in place for everyone.

it was the how you met the missus one, of course i was lying, she wasn't really a hooker, the only people that pay for it with her is me, with my life.

If GM had said anything libellous in the two posts that got him banned, why are they still there for all to see?

Just as a matter of interest it can't, of course, be libel if it is true.

I did say IF! :)

Unfortunately, as I'm sure you're also aware, the libel law - as it currently stands - states that the burden of proof is with the accuser.

Yeah, cos you take banter and **** taking well don't you hypo?

Do you know what, I had heard that if women spent a lot of time together then their cycles sync up together. I never believed it until this thread. Let me know when your collective period is over will you?

And in regards to the main issue, perhaps we should find out I'd Saints are ripping off these media outlets, or if they're presenting a viable, cost effective solution to the media, whilst opening a new revenue stream for SFC to take advantage of.

Let me get this straight mods, I have been infracted for this post? I didn't realise you could be infracted for calling someone a woman. Obviously I should rename myself to DBP or something, then you can say what I want without being infracted. And you mods like to say you don't infract people for disagreeing with you.

Seriously, it's pathetic. Sorry I've had to do this in the open but I've questioned my infractions before and never got a response.

I reported you because you resort to getting personal and you can't accept that someone else holds a different view to you.

This place is awful without GM..top top poster

Lets not get carried away, good poster yes, but its hardly like christianity without Jesus is it.

Allowing sores like Hypo to fester whilst banning the muppet show crew is one of the principal reasons this board has gone down.

And yet no infractions except for things I did when p*ssing about in the lounge. I'm not the one who resorts to personal stuff.

Separate. And there are three 'l's in libellous...........;)

Thanks for the clarification Steve. At least that makes more sense, I appreciate you don't need libellous comments on here even if GM want to take the risk.

BTW you said "the burden of proof is with the accuser" in reply to FF. Did you mean the defendant??

Unfortunately, banning Guided Missile is a perfect example of how things have gone downhill

I know another poster who made a perfectly innocent comment about the stabbing of Calum Davenport

He got banned for being racist

This board has lost it's humour I'm afraid, it's just become far too serious

It used to be good when people posted snippets of gossip which turned out to be true, rather than 'I'm a better fan than you', 'your opinion is pap/negggggattttiiiiiivvvvve', or boring reams about who's playing right back in an over-40s sub-pub kickabout. yada yada

Whether he did or not, the answer is yes, sadly.

Who and where?

As I said, interesting poster or not, it does not put them above the rules that are in place for everyone.

No it doesn't but I'm referring to the inconsistency here.

As for 'who' it was a poster called Scooby, who only disappeared a while back when hypochondriac and someone else revealed his true identity. As for 'where' I suggest searching for the terms "boot boy", "Lord Lowe" and "that insect Wilde". An obvious, consistent and provocative spammer who was allowed to post on here for what, 18 months?

End of the day I and many others on here it would appear, feel we've paid £5 for stricter moderation, a crackdown on debatable content, a widely condemned change of aesthetic appearance and a forum which on recent matchdays has been at best 'very slow' and at worst 'inaccessible'.

Like I've said I think the forum was superior when it was free.

Ah Yes the infamous Scooby - Clearly a spammer but worth letting him post for the lunacy value alone !

;)

GM has been a noteworthy poster for years and as others have said he is always worth a read! But he does sometimes push the boundaries beyond the rules as he has done here, but no doubt he will return and I look forward to that.

You really don't have to pay and, at the same time, 3 posts a day is more than enough for what this forum has become.

Maybe the forum has become somewhat down hill is when you actually open up the web site we are hit with staggering news that "Pardew Sacked" , some match report form a Bolton game, it's not been up dated for ages , what impression does that make to new potential customers and away fans who may look on at us with interest, first impressions count guys and apart from the O/s I thought us fans could be kept undated rather than the sterile news offered by the O/s.

Is it just a case of taking your fiver and allowing us payers to post as many times as we like or are we going to receive an up to date , informative and exciting Fans Forum .. at the moment its becoming a long way from that. The only thing actually worth reading is the Portsmouth Takeover Saga , all the main topics are boring and predictable drivel.

Would be nice to have some explanations to infraction points at times, or at least the Mods actually answer your PM's.

The ivory tower has no inbox though :(

Seriously this place is getting pathetic. The muppet show is lifeless these days as the place that you can get away with most things you now get away with f*ck all.

The muppet show was always sh*t. Whent it was banter central it was much better. The * for sensible threads was always the best idea, not separating the two.

Only really been posting for just over a year on here, i get that everyone saying about s4e etc but even this site had more banter and better threads then the lifeless shell we have now.

I can't even check in on matchdays without it crashing ffs.

I dont think the forum is any different, I just think we are all fecked off tbh.

Saints not really producing the goods (whats new).

Everyone in one way or another is feeling the pinch financially due to the recession.

Summer over winter looming.

Its all just a little prozac at the moment.

Watch idiot abroad on Sky 1, that may cheer you up, or on the other hand...........
