Dog Posted 22 September, 2010 Posted 22 September, 2010 As spoke about earlier, going on the night train through Germany. I have been thinking that it is a hell of a long way. So we will probably be getting a flight to a single destination early november for a good drink & crack long weekend. Any recommendations on what cities would be good at that time of year? Deppo Posted 22 September, 2010 Posted 22 September, 2010 Bremen is great. Avoid the Reeperbahn in Hamburg. Unless you really like that sort of thing.

Whitey Grandad Posted 22 September, 2010 Posted 22 September, 2010 They used to have a good deal at the weekend on German trains provided they were local trains only. My son and his student friends once went from Braunschweig to Austria for the skiing and it only cost a few Pfennigs.

I have been there before, infact I have been all over Germany so was looking for another country as I wouldn't fit in since I shaved off my handlebar moustache.
saint_in_munich Posted 23 September, 2010 Posted 23 September, 2010 Try Antwerp ! Thousands of pubs and loads of clubs, the Dutch come over the border at weekends to party there. I worked there and when going to work at 6.30am some of the pubs and clubs would still be rocking !! A lot af the bars or really old but qaint and a good place to meet drinkers etc, Ghent is also good for bars and is a student town. Munich is goo if you know the right places to go and Den Haag is similar.
Sour Mash Posted 23 September, 2010 Posted 23 September, 2010 Get cheap flight with Buzz Air to one of the former "Eastern Bloc" countries. Try Krakow or Poznan in Poland or somewhere like Kiev or Zagreb, cheap beer, stunning local women and take in a game of football.

Totally disagree with that - its great craic even if you're not really into "that sort of thing". Anyway back to the OP, I've had brilliant weekends in Valencia and Milan, recommend both.

Don't agree with your comments on Milan though. Never found Italy any good for going out and drinking etc.

Valencia was a ****-up with the boys - was helped by the fact that one of the party was a local and so took us to the best spots.

I went to Valencia on a stag do and was surprsied, a great place and very lively. Lots of good lively bars, the locals don't come out until about 10pm, Showgirls strip club not bad, but most of them were Romanian when i was hoping for some genuine Nelly Furtado look-a-like..... was more like Nelly the Elephant in the end !!
