Sorry if this is covered in another thread but I couldn't see it.....

Does anyone know for a fact that Lambert is carrying an injury?? I have missed the last few games so have no idea if it is true or not.

Is there any official word on this??

Feel free to lock if I have missed the obvious!!

He missed a few games a while back because of a groin issue. Can't think if any other reason he would have been dropped for. I also remember his first game back where when training before the game he didn't do any of the exercises that could pull on the groin area.

Really don't think they would be playing him with a groin injury as this slows down recovery and the risk of longer term absence is too great.

you're right of course, but groin injuries take various forms and it isn't without precedent for injured strikers to play on anyway.

During Ron Davies reign as top scorer in the 1960's he got injuries, both accidental and inflicted and it was frequently reported as

"he took a knock" - an explanation that hid the truth but he played on regardless for 3-4 seasons before they finally took their toll.

Lambert has the ability to score from set pieces as well as from open play and just having him on the pitch is an advantage, but last season he never went more than 3 games without scoring , so "something " isn't quite right or it wouldn't even be discussed....but it's not the sort of thing you broadcast for the opposition - is it ?

With the other problems..Barnards 3 match ban, Lallana's injury and Connolly lack of form- we don't have any choice but to play him.

Not sure if he is still carrying an injury. He does not appear in the treatment room so I assume it is just a fitness and confidence thing now.

I thought I read in an OS piece that he said he was the fittest and most prepared he had ever been this season before the season started? Something isn't quite right.

There is a difference between being physically fit and mentally prepared.

Maybe he is just not happy at Saints right now.

Were there any bids for him in the summer?

I really feel that he was probably the closest player to Pardew and has been most affected by his departure. Maybe he's struggling to find the right head space under management by someone else...

Apart from getting NEW BLOOD in

Perhaps Cortese should at least let us Supporters know that all the money allocated to getting us out of Division Thrre has been used up ahead of schedule

IMHO, That is what I think has happened

No matter how good Adkins is, he can't put a winning Team together without recognised SCORERS that are FIT

If the purse strings have been drawn tight, then the CEO must realise that Promotion is unattainable with the disjointed Squad we now have, ????

Absolutely ridiculous to expect the Club to reveal their hand in public.

I would guess there were plenty of enquiries, followed by requests for millions, followed by excuses and farewells.

Two obvious things here. Stripes are slimming, as is black. Let's have a pic of the porker in the unflattering home kit from August... :)

I was told today that Lambert was sold to Wolves at the end of last season but could not agree terms with them.

Could that be the reason for his poor form this season?

Not sure if I believe the rumour but thought I would pass it on.

With respect, that sounds like bow locks.

It's probably just a case of a good player being out of form.

It seems to me that a large part of our comparative 'success' at the tail end of last season, and our comparative 'failure' at the start of this season, is all down to Ricky Lambert. In form, his prolithic goal scoring made what was in truth a fairly middling team look great - out of form his lack of goals make the same middeling team look worse than it really is. Either way our fate this season very largely rests on the shoulders of this one player.

A club that harbours serious ambitions of promotion shouldn't really find itself quite that dependent on one player.
