Arizona Posted 18 September, 2010 Posted 18 September, 2010 (edited) Well, surely that was an improvement? Edited 18 September, 2010 by Arizona
Saint_clark Posted 18 September, 2010 Posted 18 September, 2010 Wonder what reason Adkins will give for Connolly not being in the 18?
Saint_Jonny Posted 18 September, 2010 Posted 18 September, 2010 Grumble grumble. Huddersfield now top of the league. Grumble grumble grumble.
DG Posted 18 September, 2010 Posted 18 September, 2010 How many loan signings can we get away with playing at the same time?
Thorpe-le-Saint Posted 18 September, 2010 Posted 18 September, 2010 That seemed a certain improvement. And on cue, Saints Player has a melt down. What a crock of ****.
Minty Posted 18 September, 2010 Posted 18 September, 2010 Shame we didn't win, but yes, much better second half which shows a significant change in mentality. We kept going, didn't let our heads drop or get frustrated, and showed that physical fitness clearly isn't that bad, and that with a bit more mental sharpness and application we can keep going for 95 minutes. Adkins has only had a short time here, but he has clearly been able to lift the heads a bit and keep them focused for 90 minutes. Something to build on.
saint J Posted 18 September, 2010 Posted 18 September, 2010 How long is it now since we scored ? 450 mins
ulstersaint Posted 18 September, 2010 Posted 18 September, 2010 Wonder what reason Adkins will give for Connolly not being in the 18? Probably injured, he usually is.
BotleySaint Posted 18 September, 2010 Posted 18 September, 2010 We could have done with an extra 10 minutes.
Minty Posted 18 September, 2010 Posted 18 September, 2010 That seemed a certain improvement. And on cue, Saints Player has a melt down. What a crock of ****. I may be wrong, but I thought Player was only allowed to play the commentary, hence it stops at half time and after the final whistle? If I'm wrong I apologise, but I thought that was the case.
stardustonmyfeet Posted 18 September, 2010 Posted 18 September, 2010 Well, at least we're not bottom of of the third division...
dubai_phil Posted 18 September, 2010 Posted 18 September, 2010 Obviously disappointed as everyone will be, clearly Rickie is not there yet, BUT he seemed to be getting closer and closer. A point may not seem that important but a defeat would have been a near on Titanic level disaster. Sure we SHOULD be winning, but sounds like a step on the road. Main issue from DM seems to be MS wanting to play "The pass of the Century" rather than keeping it simple and moving the ball around. Work to do but we did finish a second half stronger for the first time this season by the sound of it Limping slowly onwards and maybe soon upwards
Huntingdon Posted 18 September, 2010 Posted 18 September, 2010 I feel sorry for Adkins, he's inherited a team lacking in morale & confidence, whilst playing under the pressure of being expected to win promotion I'd love to know the real reasons behind our pitiful transfer activity this summer
redkeith Posted 18 September, 2010 Posted 18 September, 2010 Sounded better to me, first home game that Saints have had a good 2nd half. Dickson and Holmes sounded useful. Solent commentator said he hasn't seen Saints or Pompey score a league goal this season, and he's just said he will be at Hillsborough next week. Take a sicky for the Saints, let someone else do it.
red&white56 Posted 18 September, 2010 Posted 18 September, 2010 It could have been worse, but I still struggle to understand how we've fallen in confidence so far and so fast that we're in the relegation zone and not the play-off zone as we all expected.
Dr Who? Posted 18 September, 2010 Posted 18 September, 2010 It seemed to get much better in the second half, so things are looking up.
Saintandy666 Posted 18 September, 2010 Posted 18 September, 2010 An improvement, if only a slight one. Hopefully, we can go back to what we were at the end of last season as soon as possible.
Plumstead_Saint Posted 18 September, 2010 Posted 18 September, 2010 I may be wrong, but I thought Player was only allowed to play the commentary, hence it stops at half time and after the final whistle? If I'm wrong I apologise, but I thought that was the case. They always broadcast the build up for 30 mins or so before kick-off, and they used to do the half-time comments and after match analysis and phone-ins. Right now it keeps cutting in and out. Rubbish really.
Kingsbridge Saint Posted 18 September, 2010 Posted 18 September, 2010 How are we going against Norwich 's record last season? FFS Adkins has had no impact whatsoever. Cortese and him can go and do a few underwater farts. We are ****ing **** and will never score again whilst those ****ing idiots are in charge.

Cortese and him can go and do a few underwater farts. We are ****ing **** and will never score again whilst those ****ing idiots are in charge. that will do the trick then!!!!!!!!!!!!
Saint Without a Halo Posted 18 September, 2010 Posted 18 September, 2010 It is not good enough with the money we have spent and the players we have there can be no excuses. Chelsea have has a number of mangerial changes recently and I have not seen it effect their form! It is not adkins fault he has only been in place 6 days! it is the Players! if they play like fourth divsion players they should be paid like 4th division players!
brett24 Posted 18 September, 2010 Posted 18 September, 2010 Couple of loan signings in this week, 3 points again Wednesday = Season Start.
Minty Posted 18 September, 2010 Posted 18 September, 2010 How are we going against Norwich 's record last season? FFS Adkins has had no impact whatsoever. Cortese and him can go and do a few underwater farts. We are ****ing **** and will never score again whilst those ****ing idiots are in charge. You are, IMO, so wrong, it is unbelievable. Last 4 games we have capitulated and allowed our heads to drop, and the opposition the chance to steal in a get the points. Today we started nervously and were too anxious at times, but improved markedly second half and finished quite strongly. That hasn't happened at all this season and, I would surmise, is down to Adkins giving them a bit of belief and staying power.
Saint Without a Halo Posted 18 September, 2010 Posted 18 September, 2010 5 points out of 21 FFS and we have hardly played anyone expected to be good yet! THIS IS DIVISION 3 !
Ohio Saint Posted 18 September, 2010 Posted 18 September, 2010 I thought it was an improvement. I'm taking positives from this game. At least they played for the full game. I'm satisfied for now.
Minty Posted 18 September, 2010 Posted 18 September, 2010 5 points out of 21 FFS and we have hardly played anyone expected to be good yet! THIS IS DIVISION 3 ! We know. We're talking about todays game, not the last 6.

bowers-sfc Posted 18 September, 2010 Posted 18 September, 2010 Good second half. Lambert still looks unfit. Just seen murky come out of the reception bit..
SuperSAINT Posted 18 September, 2010 Posted 18 September, 2010 Adkins just on solent saying Connolly had a scan in the week on a hip problem, and Barnard's got a problem as well... We are seriously thin on the striker front.
Plumstead_Saint Posted 18 September, 2010 Posted 18 September, 2010 Well i suppose it's better than losing. Last season we would have scored in extra time. One step at a time. Just heard NA on saints player/solent. Barnard is carrying an injury! Connolly injured, Lallana starting to run though.
once_bitterne Posted 18 September, 2010 Posted 18 September, 2010 Ready for another long season of relegation fighting then lads?
gazd83 Posted 18 September, 2010 Posted 18 September, 2010 5 points out of 21 FFS and we have hardly played anyone expected to be good yet! THIS IS DIVISION 3 ! agreed that points tally is poor and yes this is Div 3. However we are exactly that...a div3 team. Not something we want to be and hopefully not something we will be next yr but for now we deserve to be inthis position and league. We can only improve from here but we are a long way off the dizzy heights of mid-table premiership footy.
Minty Posted 18 September, 2010 Posted 18 September, 2010 Ready for another long season of relegation fighting then lads? Nope. Confident we'll gradually improve and move well away from the relegation zone.
once_bitterne Posted 18 September, 2010 Posted 18 September, 2010 Nope. Confident we'll gradually improve and move well away from the relegation zone. Without at least 3 loans mid table would best we could possibly hope for....
Minty Posted 18 September, 2010 Posted 18 September, 2010 Without at least 3 loans mid table would best we could possibly hope for.... I disagree. The squad showed what they are capable of last season, and I am confident that Adkins can get us back to that level and possibly beyond. This start to the season has been poor, but there is a long way to go.
theboycheese Posted 18 September, 2010 Posted 18 September, 2010 We will lose Lallana and Lambert in January, look at the teams who went up last season, Norwich are 5th in the Championship...we are a JOKE!
martyg1950 Posted 18 September, 2010 Posted 18 September, 2010 Sounded to me like we had a much stronger 2md half than we've done of late. Positives are a clean sheet and so we avoided another defeat. NA seems to be having an impact, of course it will take time, don't envy him the job but he certainly sounds like he's up for it. We can still make the playoffs if we progress steadily, automatic is not out of the question IF form improves, lots of games to play yet. This season we will all need nerves of steel! .... and a bit of good fortune to boot ;-)
once_bitterne Posted 18 September, 2010 Posted 18 September, 2010 I disagree. The squad showed what they are capable of last season, and I am confident that Adkins can get us back to that level and possibly beyond. This start to the season has been poor, but there is a long way to go. No, last seasons squad showed what they were capable of. This season's squad are showing what they are capable of. No goals, no hope.
woodfc Posted 18 September, 2010 Posted 18 September, 2010 We will turn it around under Adkins, probably away from home at first where there seems to be less pressure. With a decent result confidence will grow, we will regain our believe. NA is not stupid, he has the best squad in this division and given time the cream will come to the top. Try to look at the bigger picture. I know we're all dissapointed having expected a lot more and its not easy for us at the moment, we need to be patient but it WILL come.
SW11_Saint Posted 18 September, 2010 Posted 18 September, 2010 Disappointing, but a step in the right direction. Solved a problem at one end, now need to focus on the other. It will come, and we WILL still go up, mark my words.
Saint Charlie Posted 18 September, 2010 Posted 18 September, 2010 Did NA say anything about getting players in? He has taken stick on here but I thought Seaborne did well, made some nice passes too. NA has clearly told Davis to pass the ball out to the defenders instead of hoofing!
S-Clarke Posted 18 September, 2010 Posted 18 September, 2010 Well that was better, for the first time this season I've come away from St Mary's feeling slightly lifted, rather than down after a dull-pointless performance. There was only one team in this game, Colchester didn't play at all - they were so bad. The first half was ok, nothing special and we weren't enough threat, we had so much possession but did so little with it. the 2nd half was more like it though....pace, energy, drive and we shot at goal! The keeper pulled off 2 fantastic saves in the 2nd half, one in the last second of the game and also pushed away a corner that was destined for seabornes head....and we possibly should have had at least 1 penality, although i couldn't see it that clearly. They'd obviously had a talking to at half time because it was much better, probably as well as we've played all season for a consistant amount of time as we had them penned in all half........but christ, that one break away colchester had in the 86th min felt like hell, we would not have deserved it and it would have been seriously hard to swallow...thank **** they were **** though. Lambert looked a bit better, brought players into play like last season but is still cleary way off match fitness (As you can see when he keeps pulling up). Barnard improved our attack, much more livley than we have been and was full of energy and running, it kept their back 4 pushed right back and helped us dominate as much as we have. The goals will come, we cannot play as well as we did in the 2nd half all season and fail to score again. Unfortunatley these results aren't helpung us, we're dropping off now and auto promotion is possibly almost becoming a distant dream. Once we get a goal though, i can sense the confidence will flow through this team. We just need a break and we'll start ticking again, i think we may need a little help from the loan market though.
Crispypie Posted 18 September, 2010 Posted 18 September, 2010 I dont know what Adkins said at half time but it was much better afterwards. Glad Pidgeon stopped taking corners, we definatly looked more dangerous from them near the end. While I'm not exactly happy about the 1 point its looking a bit brighter for us going from from here.
Toomer Posted 18 September, 2010 Posted 18 September, 2010 We had chances to win it, Holmes looked good when he came on would start him in front of Punch, Adkins now has a full uniterupted week with them on the training ground so I would like to think an away win could be on the cards next week.
bowers-sfc Posted 18 September, 2010 Posted 18 September, 2010 Barnard needs an operation on his hernia. Just asked him outside the stadium. Il keep ya posted on anything else.
