moonraker Posted 20 September, 2010 Share Posted 20 September, 2010 It scares the bejeesus out of me to think that Palin may one day end up with her finger on the launch button of the world's biggest nuclear arsenal. What worries me even more is that there are millions of Americans who genuinely believe she would make a good president Fortunately I am sure there are more Americana’s who think she and her absurd TEA party are an embarrassment to their nation and so she will not get voted in. I had dinner with a US colleague last week and he is very happy with Palin as he believes it will benefit Obhama and improve his chance of a 2nd term. OldNick Posted 20 September, 2010 Share Posted 20 September, 2010 That video is priceless! Bumbling her way through the interview and the line "our next door neighbours are foreign countries" is fantastic. The thought of someone like Palin being President and the most powerful individual in the world truly terrifies me. lets all laugh at the Yanks, after all we had jack Straw Lol
JackFrost Posted 20 September, 2010 Share Posted 20 September, 2010 (edited) That is unfair. She's no different Dubya in that they are both intelligent, but see no reason to make a show of it. Er even McCain's allies are aware of her level of intellgence http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/philipsherwell/5652031/Sarah_Palin_didnt_know_Africa_was_a_continent_claim_McCain_aides/ The woman was purely a publicity stunt in a failed attempt to win McCain the last American election. Still, at least they didn't rig it like Bush did. Edited 20 September, 2010 by JackFrost
dune Posted 3 November, 2010 Author Share Posted 3 November, 2010 Tea lacks punch in Delaware as Coons wins Senate WILMINGTON, Del. — "I'm you," Christine O'Donnell said in her first campaign ad. On Tuesday, Delaware voters responded: No, you're not. Joensuu Posted 3 November, 2010 Share Posted 3 November, 2010 Why do sad? This is a good news story. Thank goodness Delaware didn't vote for such an embarrasing former-witch, who really hasn't got a clue about the basics of the US Constitution: http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2010/oct/19/christine-odonnell-church-and-state-gaffe

Sheaf Saint Posted 4 November, 2010 Share Posted 4 November, 2010 I'm not concerned: Both Clinton and Reagan took batterings in their first mid-terms and look at how they long lasted... Agreed. It remains to be seen just who the Republicans put up against Obama in the full elections in two years time.
Joensuu Posted 4 November, 2010 Share Posted 4 November, 2010 I'm not concerned: Both Clinton and Reagan took batterings in their first mid-terms and look at how they long lasted... True... but what scares me is that in both 83, and 95 the economic low-point had been reached, and jobs and growth were begining to bolster public opinion... As there don't appear to be many signs of recovery yet, if Obama doesn't turn things about rapidly, he will be entering the begining of electioneering with large numbers out of work... IMO, unless the economy picks up soon, the TEA party extremists might be the only way for Obama to win a second term (if this were to happen it might end up being a bit like Le Pen, with centralists (of both left and right) voting for the only moderate choice to prevent the extreme right from gaining power).
