OttawaSaint Posted 17 September, 2010 Posted 17 September, 2010 so you haven't ever seen Lambert play football? Actually, the last time you came to a home game Rickie wasn't even born! Ah, so Lambert only plays home games? that might alter your statistical analysis soemwhat...
chrisobee Posted 17 September, 2010 Posted 17 September, 2010 I'm sorry, but SaintsWeb Ltd ought to provide its customers with a greater quality of poster than 1976_Child. I, for one, find his posts to be ill-informed enough to be considered rather offensive. Thus, I, as a consumer, ask either for the poster 1976_Child to be either removed or warned for the abysmal quality of their postings, or I, a subscriber ought to be given a full refund, as the product you are providing me is of sub-standard quality. Go to bed 1982_Child
chrisobee Posted 17 September, 2010 Posted 17 September, 2010 seriously, 3 pages for this joke!!!! That's clearly because idiots like you and I keep posting on it
saintmatt Posted 17 September, 2010 Posted 17 September, 2010 ridiculous thread.imagine if we'd have sold beattie just because he had a slow start to the 01/02 season!we'd have lost his goals in 02/03 nevermind 01/02!the whole team's looking flat at the moment, can't expect lambert to lift them all the time
Liquidshokk Posted 18 September, 2010 Posted 18 September, 2010 Have to say it was the first time today that I've seriously understood peoples comments about lamberts form.... Does he know how to jump???? He doesn't even bother going for headers anymore!! I don't buy the lack of confidence ****... Someone who scores as many goals as he usually does should know how good they are and shouldn't be so delicate...
Roger Posted 18 September, 2010 Posted 18 September, 2010 I'm sorry but the last post on here is madness. Lambert was best player today won a lot in the air and tested goalie a lot. He was much better today. Wake up FFS
S-Clarke Posted 18 September, 2010 Posted 18 September, 2010 I'm sorry but the last post on here is madness. Lambert was best player today won a lot in the air and tested goalie a lot. He was much better today. Wake up FFS he was yep, he's getting better and was more like last seasons lambert in parts of the game. but he was still pulling up and he is still struggling to jump, so i think fitness is still an issue....he is improving though, so good things to come from him hopefully.
bpsaint Posted 18 September, 2010 Posted 18 September, 2010 Lambert did well today, although I'm still annoyed that he has to drop into midfield just to collect the ball as our centre midfielders just don't win the ball. If Lambert could sit in natural position at CF and play with the enthusiasm of Barnard he'll tear this league up again.

I'm not saying he was crap (so "wake up" and catch my drift ffs) he just isn't the lambert I saw last season and Im merely pointing out that I hadn't seen it until at certain stages today.
dickyhale Posted 18 September, 2010 Posted 18 September, 2010 ****ing dopey ***** get a life, go to bed! Gtfo these forums.
Saint Fan CaM Posted 18 September, 2010 Posted 18 September, 2010 There is something wrong with him - he is not trying because of lost spirit or because he's still carrying an injury. Adkins needs to get inside his head and sort it out. I did wonder for a fleeting moment whether he was one of Pardews 'inner circle' drinking buddies and when AP/friends got busted RL got a dressing down but they couldn't afford losing him from the team. His whole demeanour is night and day different to last season IMO.
Liquidshokk Posted 18 September, 2010 Posted 18 September, 2010 ****ing dopey ***** get a life, go to bed! Gtfo these forums. Never before has the phrase "take your own advice" been more relevant. Poor contribution chap.

Liquidshokk Posted 18 September, 2010 Posted 18 September, 2010 :lol::lol::lol::lol: as i say, it wasnt an anti-lambert post. Just desperate to see the old lambert back and just wish he would spring back into life...

If Lambert could sit in natural position at CF and play with the enthusiasm of Barnard he'll tear this league up again. I think thats just it... There were points where barnard would come in and help ricky get the ball back (When ricky could have dealt with it himself) and it stood out when alongside each other that barnard was a million miles more enthusiastic and lively.
saintscottofthenortham Posted 18 September, 2010 Posted 18 September, 2010 I think thats just it... There were points where barnard would come in and help ricky get the ball back (When ricky could have dealt with it himself) and it stood out when alongside each other that barnard was a million miles more enthusiastic and lively. Barnard has always been more enthusiastic & lively. Because you see, they are two TOTALLY different players. Didn't realise it was that hard to grasp.
saintscottofthenortham Posted 18 September, 2010 Posted 18 September, 2010 as i say, it wasnt an anti-lambert post. Just desperate to see the old lambert back and just wish he would spring back into life... Ok, I think I know where your coming from... But I have to say, I dont understand it. He was absolutely fantastic today. His passing made our midfield look like pub footballers, his first touch was significantly better than the last few weeks, he won virtually every ball he went up for, until he was elbowed in the face (yet another thing the pathetic ref done nothing about), once that happened he only went for one more header. I can only imagine that it was down to the fact that an elbow to the face f*cking hurts.
Liquidshokk Posted 18 September, 2010 Posted 18 September, 2010 Barnard has always been more enthusiastic & lively. Because you see, they are two TOTALLY different players. Didn't realise it was that hard to grasp. I give up. you win. you're right. Was just an observation and comparison to last season where i thought he was on a completely different level of "up for it" Was probably the wrong thread to post my comment on as I dont agree with the OP but couldnt find another recent one regarding his current form... for the record I do still rate him highly...naturally. Team as a whole one step in the right direction after today, which was good.
Roger Posted 18 September, 2010 Posted 18 September, 2010 I was pleased with ricky today. I have been annoyed with him lately but today he played some good balls, was more mobile, hit the target 3 times almost 4 and looked fitter imo. I thought hammond was awful again, morgan good, barnard poor today. I have to admit punchon has been poor this season but no worse than hammond, fonte, ricky, connolly etc. I dont like hearing a saints player getting that much abuse when he is in areas of the pitch that he is trying to create. Chamerlain for me was much of the time less effective than punch. Better performance though.
Roger Posted 18 September, 2010 Posted 18 September, 2010 Lambert is a different class of player to barnard in my opinion. He was much better than barnard today. How many times did barnard test the keeper. You can huff and puff all you like but end product counts. Tell the england managers that left matt le tiss out the england team. Players like ripley and rob lee could run around but never would produce match winning pieces of play like matty. Its the same with lambert to a much lesser degree

Quite sad that we can fault 90% of our team at the moment isn't it :-S off the top of my head I dont think I had a bad thing to say about any of the team last season... with exception of Otsemebor
Liquidshokk Posted 18 September, 2010 Posted 18 September, 2010 (edited) Lambert is a different class of player to barnard in my opinion. He was much better than barnard today. How many times did barnard test the keeper. You can huff and puff all you like but end product counts. Tell the england managers that left matt le tiss out the england team. Players like ripley and rob lee could run around but never would produce match winning pieces of play like matty. Its the same with lambert to a much lesser degree I was about to make the same comparison actually. I didnt ever see Matt play but from what I hear he let everyone else do the hard work and did his bit of magic once someone set him up.. I just question wether we have enough time and space in the games this season to wait for it to fall nicely for lambert to do his bit of magic. Surely it would be beneficial to have TWO lively strikers up front to get the goals? Edited 18 September, 2010 by Liquidshokk poor wording
captainchris Posted 18 September, 2010 Posted 18 September, 2010 Best Saints player today put a sock in it drama queen....

tonibell Posted 18 September, 2010 Posted 18 September, 2010 One of our better players today was unlucky not to score at the end with either one of those free kicks. I expect if Pardew gets a job he be sniffing around Lambert and your wish may come true

John McGrath's Jockstrap Posted 18 September, 2010 Posted 18 September, 2010 Sounds like Lambert is not interested in playing football this season. Certainly looks that way at home games. Maybe it is time to off-load him come January and spend the proceeds plus a bit more on a proven striker, unlike a one season-wonder. Have you noticed the header on this website?. In one year from where we started last season he is a legend. RL is patently not fit. He did not jump for one header today ( I watched). The reason - if you have a chronic groin injury you do not have the power to jump. The chance he had midway through 2nd half was also a pointer - given that chance last season he would have buried it. So - you are the manager - with no other forward options do you play RL with a chance he might get a good free kick position or pen and bury it.... or play who???. He needs a 3-4 week fully rested break and then intensive work. We have a loan period for these reasons. NA - get NC to get a good reserve prem striker and wait for RL to do himself justice.

I was cringing whilst watching him train before the game cos he was doing all the excercises/stretches that everyone else was, including the jumping and raising your knees as high as possible. Ive had a groin tear so I knew that at any point he could rip it doing that. So I know jumping probably wouldn't be advised but surely if that's his reasons for not going in for headers/tackles then he wouldn't have done half the stuff he did in training....
