Dog Posted 15 September, 2010 Posted 15 September, 2010 I have 4 undershelf fridges complete with crusty milk in the back of my van. I would like to get shot of them ASAP. My options are: Tip (don't think they want them) Scrap Yard (don't think they want them) Pikey (don't think they want them) River Canal Hedge Any ideas?
Guest Dark Sotonic Mills Posted 15 September, 2010 Posted 15 September, 2010 Call the council, they do the job for you.
Dog Posted 15 September, 2010 Author Posted 15 September, 2010 Call the council, they do the job for you. They only do domestic do they not? 4 at a time, you wouldn't get away with surely?
swannymere Posted 15 September, 2010 Posted 15 September, 2010 If they don't look like commercial fridges your local tip should take them, in my area you need a pass to take the van to the tip which you can obtain from the council.
Dimond Geezer Posted 15 September, 2010 Posted 15 September, 2010 Call the council, they do the job for you. Not free any more: http://www.southampton.gov.uk/s-environment/householdwaste/large-items.aspx "As of 1 April 2008, fridges and freezers are no longer collected free of charge. Collection of up to two of these items will be charged at £25. Please note fridges/freezers are not included in the five items stated above." Best idea would be to do what every one else does, ie. dump them on a council estate, somewhere like the flower roads, where the Neighbourhood Warden will eventually dispose of them for you, obviously after evicting the pikeys who have made a home in them.
Dog Posted 15 September, 2010 Author Posted 15 September, 2010 Call the council, they do the job for you. Nothing is FREE in this world DSM as only you know. Tell me anything that you have had worth having in the last year or so that was FREE ? I rest my case.
lutz Posted 15 September, 2010 Posted 15 September, 2010 Hey Dog i'm in the trade and have no problem with the scrap men/pikey types taking them. Why don't you just leave 1 outside and see how quick it disappears?
CB Saint Posted 15 September, 2010 Posted 15 September, 2010 "Forget" to shut the van door and drive round corners very fast.
RonManager Posted 15 September, 2010 Posted 15 September, 2010 These people are on the lookout for more fridges to exhibit their ever growing collection. http://www.tackyliving.com/article.php?id=91

Just done exactly that. There are 4 lined up outside work with a sign on, £50 each!!! The pikeys will be on them like bluebottles on dog sh!t.
Marsdinho Posted 15 September, 2010 Posted 15 September, 2010 I did a dump this morning that felt like it was the size of a fridge.
1976_Child Posted 15 September, 2010 Posted 15 September, 2010 just ****ing dump them. Give them a rub down with an alcohol based solvent to remove finger prints drive about 50 miles out of town along a country road with forest either side and chuck them. Simples. So long as it ain't in your council's area and you have not left any evidence what's the bother? If you are getting paid for it make sure you don't use your own van and you are away scott free. Eventually they will get cleaned up and we all pay far, far too much poll tax anyhow so **** it. It is a dog-eat-dog world and you got to eat after all.
hamster Posted 16 September, 2010 Posted 16 September, 2010 Sell them, use the money to buy som emore and sell them too at a decent mark up. Before you know it you will be a fridge magnate. boom tiiiish
swannymere Posted 16 September, 2010 Posted 16 September, 2010 If I found anyone dumping rubbish near me I would cause them harm, it's so ****ing idiotic.

Dog Posted 4 December, 2010 Author Posted 4 December, 2010 Erm, I know 14 Cherwell crescent, millbrook. They said they will have them. Too late mate, they're in Swannymere's front garden with a load of pallets.
EastleighSoulBoy Posted 4 December, 2010 Posted 4 December, 2010 I did a dump this morning that felt like it was the size of a fridge. Cool!
Badger Posted 4 December, 2010 Posted 4 December, 2010 Option A) Dump them at night on the edge of an illegal diddycoy campsite. Then write a letter to the Echo about how the standards of that neighbourhood have declined since the gypos arrived. Option B)Launch them from a bridge over the M27 as the Skatesmouth team bus or supporters go underneath.
Redbul Posted 5 December, 2010 Posted 5 December, 2010 Heard a story about an old bloke who wanted shot of an old fridge so he put it outside his house with a "Working fridge, free to anyone that wants it" sign on it. Stayed there for days. A mate of his suggested putting a "Working fridge, £20, please knock at [whatever the address was]" sign on it. It was gone in next to no time. Give something a perceived value and watch it walk.

Jones91 Posted 7 December, 2010 Posted 7 December, 2010 Just trying stick it up their arse, should have no problem dumping frigids then
swannymere Posted 7 December, 2010 Posted 7 December, 2010 Too late mate, they're in Swannymere's front garden with a load of pallets. That's just daft, pallets are worth cash even if they're fooked.

I rest my case. I got a free working dishwasher just two weeks ago... Doesn't wash clothes though. Nothing wrong with it, tested for nasties, nothing doing.
Jones91 Posted 8 December, 2010 Posted 8 December, 2010 If you're going shopping in town and you've parked opposite toys r us (near tescos home, boots, staples etc) if you pop into furniture village, at the back of the store you can get FREE cookies and hot chocolate....
