swannymere Posted 14 September, 2010 Share Posted 14 September, 2010 I'm sure the creditors are well chuffed.
Barry the Badger Posted 14 September, 2010 Share Posted 14 September, 2010 I love how short peoples memories are. We all seem to have forgotton that little over a year ago we were subject to a takeover, which forced our creditors to accept a percentage of what we owed them. We then went out and spent more than any other L1 club on transfer fees. This is the way football deals with debt, get over it.

We went into admin over a 4 grand bounced cheque, they went into admin without any way of servicing £130m-worth of debt - including owing local charities, St John's and so forth. We tried to resolve our problems by loaning out our high earners and playing the kids, they have just continued to flick the V's and spend, spend, spend. More revolting behaviour from a revolting football club.

They continued to spend, keep players earning £80k a week and offering players they could not afford new contracts. Admin was the same end product, but at least we tryed everything possible to avoid it.

Exactly... when you step back and look at what they've done and how they got away with it, it's absolutely staggering. Thing is, as the saga rumbled on, you became more accustomed to expecting them to get away with it - and they did, even to the point that it wasn't surprising anymore. In fact, it was pretty much par for the course. Something has gone on there, and if I were a betting man I'd say the moment Lampitt walked into the club (very strange appointment) was the moment they started concealing their filthy trail and burying their sordid past.... A month later we spent 1m on Ricky Lambert. I'm not trying to suggest that what we did was on the same scale as the skates, but take your Saints tinted glasses off and you will realise that we too 'got away with it', just to a lesser extent. I thought it was only the lenders who took a hit. Once the club was bought out then we spent money with new owners. Pompey still are not out of admin and still seem to not changed their spots

If Pompey had been taken over by a multi billionaire and THEN had signed the Stoke duo no-one would have batted an eyelid. The point is they haven't even come out of admin yet and they are breaking their wage cap.
