David Strover Posted 14 September, 2010 Posted 14 September, 2010 In celebration of my £5 spent I have started probably my one and only thread. Does the panel think Nigel Adkins will attempt to improve the squad (not should he but will he) and if so who do we reckon it might be? I know this is very open ended but I have no clue and I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on the topic.
thorpie the sinner Posted 14 September, 2010 Posted 14 September, 2010 fast, pacey winger, Brian Stock and a fast centre forward!
Badger Posted 14 September, 2010 Posted 14 September, 2010 (edited) Le Fondre had been in his sights whilst at Scvnthorpe. As seen here: http://www.s****horpeunited-mad.co.uk/news/tmnw/adkins_reveals_interest_in_le_fondre_and_zebrowski_554921/index.shtml Edited 14 September, 2010 by Badger
MarkSFC Posted 14 September, 2010 Posted 14 September, 2010 He seems to have a good eye for a striker, so I would be very surprised not to see one loaned very soon. We also need pace out wide, more so on the right and a decent midfielder! I would think he will address that quickly.
Colinjb Posted 14 September, 2010 Posted 14 September, 2010 He's already brough in a player/assistant. Even though he's 7 I would expect Andy Crosby to play at CB for Adkins to steady things while we finally get going.
Turkish Posted 14 September, 2010 Posted 14 September, 2010 He's already brough in a player/assistant. Even though he's 7 I would expect Andy Crosby to play at CB for Adkins to steady things while we finally get going. why? Is he better than Fonte, Martin, Jaidi and Seaborne?
Toomer Posted 14 September, 2010 Posted 14 September, 2010 There might be a couple of players already on the radar in the loan market from APs time which NA, NC, & DW will talk about, if they are what Adkins think we need who knows.
Colinjb Posted 14 September, 2010 Posted 14 September, 2010 why? Is he better than Fonte, Martin, Jaidi and Seaborne? I'm not sure. But he would be a direct link from the new manager to his new squad on the pitch. It would make sense on a few levels. I'm not saying I would like to see him in ahead of Martin or Fonte, but I could understand how it could happen.
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 14 September, 2010 Posted 14 September, 2010 I wonder if he'll favour Mills at lb/lm having worked with him at Scunny.
Channon's Sideburns Posted 14 September, 2010 Posted 14 September, 2010 If he does put Crosby in at CB, move Fonte into Central Midfield......and that solves that problem. Simples
saint_stevo Posted 14 September, 2010 Posted 14 September, 2010 yes because we are ****e at the moment
Robsk II Posted 14 September, 2010 Posted 14 September, 2010 He's already brough in a player/assistant. Even though he's 7 I would expect Andy Crosby to play at CB for Adkins to steady things while we finally get going. I'm all for blooding young playes, but this is silly.
jasoneuelllfanclub Posted 14 September, 2010 Posted 14 September, 2010 IMO he wont make any loan signings until after Saturday's game. Even though we know we are in desperate need of a striker and a pacy winger NA will give all the players a clean slate. It wouldn't be good for morale to bring in new players straight away. He needs to be seen giving all the players a fair chance. Then if he gets a couple of loans in after that then no one can really argue.
VectisSaint Posted 14 September, 2010 Posted 14 September, 2010 He's already brough in a player/assistant. Even though he's 7 I would expect Andy Crosby to play at CB for Adkins to steady things while we finally get going. Unless Crosby was not registered as a player at Scunny then he cannot play for us. As a player he would still be subject to transfer rules. I note from the Scunny site that he has not played this season, so maybe he has retired as a player. All references on OS are to him being assistant manager only.
Saint_clark Posted 14 September, 2010 Posted 14 September, 2010 If he drops one of Fonte and Martin for 37 year old Andy Crosby I will be p*ssed off already.
