Hi Daren

Regretfully, i've not had the pleasure of meeting either you or your dear mum but have been an intrigued spectator to your posts explaining your thoughts and frustrations during the past years.

I'd like to pass on my sincerest wishes to you both. You were obviously very close and your story is a benchmark for all wishing to find peace with family. Your posts have hit a cord with me and certainly helped to improve on my relationships and to be more thankful for the time we all share.

In my thoughts

Don't know you personally Daren, the strength that you need to come through this will come from the memory of your Mum. Mum's are always with us, in our hearts and memories and in the darkest night she will come to you, I promise you that Daren.

God bless you mate.

Sorry to hear the sad news about your mum, met her just once and the passion she had for Saints was truly amazing back then.

She will no doubt join the great army of Saints that will welcome her like we are one big family.

RIP Valerie and Daren you will find the strength when the going gets tough as that's what mum's do even a million miles away.

Daren, as I said elsewhere, I'll always remember the banter between your mum and visiting reserve team managers at Staplewood... and especially Lawrie Sanchez, who your mum managed to wind up an absolute treat. Always makes me smile remembering that night. Always armed with the coffee and the Kit-kat's too if I remember rightly.

A top, top lady who always made me smile, which is how I'll always remember her, and I'm sure you will too.

Rest in peace Valerie.

Val was a lovely lady, once you met her you would never forget her, always had this big beaming smile on her face and never moaned or complained. I was privileged enough to sit next to her at SMS and will never forget her, RIP Val you are the biggest Saint in heaven.

Less than a month now to the first anniversary of my Mum's passing so I know how you feel Daren. I can only add to the sincere condolences to you and your family and offer a little of my experience this past 12 months. It's a strange time ahead, dealing with everything that comes with someones passing but hopefully soon you'll find yourself having a word with Mum at times, chuckling at something that reminds you of her and of course those, 'wish Mum was here moments', mine was my wedding a few weeks back. They stay with us even though they're gone. You seem to have a whole lot of great times with your Mum stored up in the old grey matter, they're what matters now. Be strong for the rest of the family but allow yourself time for you. That's when you can best appreciate her. I'm sure say she would rather you remember the good times and the pain of her passing will in time, be lessened

Daren, please accept my condolences. I have lost a young brother and a young sister in law in recent years, so I understand what you're going through. Whilst the pain of loss is hard to forget, time does allow the fond memories to take a place in your heart and mind. Take care, and RIP Valerie. East Leake Saint.

Daren has written a very fitting tribute to his mum in The Pink where he also said he would like to raise £1m for cancer research, having lost a two members of my family to both cancer and a cancer related illness I would be pleased to offer both my help and support to Daren in any way I could. I am sure that many of the people that post on TSW would be only to willing to support any event they could as well.
