It is with the very greatest sadness that must advise you all that my mum passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday after battling bone cancer for the best part of 3 years. No pain, no suffering she just quietly passed away in the home she loved so much...

A season ticket holder for 15 years until cancer robbed her of her ability to make it to games, her last game was the Ajax pre-season match from last year.

A fair few people on here knew her and everyone who met her at St Marys will attest to her love of Saints. During the last few days of her life she drifted in and out of consciousness, one of the last things she said to me was how I rated Nigel Adkins. I told her he'd be the man to take us up. She smiled. She passed away in her sleep two days later...

I will miss her fun and laughter more than I can possibly describe. Goodnight mum and god bless...

Condolences to you and all your family Darren. Nothing hurts more than the loss of a mother. Yet the memories are so profound that she will be with you forever. Rest in Peace Valerie.

Jesus darren i can't believe that mate, that's some of the worst news i've heard all year. I hope you're alright mate and i've got to be honest football's not been the same without her there. An absolutely diamond of a woman, a heart of gold and so much more than just a saints fan, the type of person that made me proud of this city.

RIP and my sincerest condolences,

Daren, I don't know you personally, but I do know what it's like to lose your mum. I know how you are feeling and it's very hard. Condolences to you and your family and hope your mum can rest in peace now after her battle. All the best.

Daren I lost my mother in law in June to a cancer related illness, I know your mum would have fought to the end, she is at peace now, my condolences to you and your family.

Lost my mum to Cancer many years ago Darren and it hurts to this day - it will never stop hurting. But when times are bad I still turn to and talk to her, she may not be able to speak back, but I know what she would say, even now she gives me the strength to get through the bad times. The pain may not go away, but neither will the great memories that you have of her.

Sincere condolences to you Darren. RIP Valerie.
