Not a word spoken by the club regarding his position now. Despite the woeful performances under his charge, he clearly was under the impression that he was being kept on, so will he serve as a coach under Nige and Andy now? To be fair on him, that's going to be a step-down surely? Be nice to hear from the club though.

Apparently he's the first team coach, so he'll just carry on his current role and work alongside Adkins and Crosby.

I'm glad he's staying on because he's a good coach, our success last year was as a team - and he was part of that team.

Agreed - where did you hear this though? I couldn't find any info.

Matthew Le God mentioned it in another thread, not sure where he got it from though.

But it seems likely he'll stay on as he mentioned as much in his first press-conf.

something along the lines of ''The chairman has asked me to take control of the team for the foreseeable future, he's assured me that i'll have a future here no matter what''

He's clearly not a great manager and motivator but probably a great coach implementing other peoples instruction.

Indeed. Difference this time was the coach only got three games whereas a couple of times in recent history they have got the bloody job full time !!

Wilkins does seem to have had some involvement in player recruitment given his past relationships with Harding and Hammond. He is a very experienced coach and his tactics during the three games he was in charge seemed OK. Not sure about his substitutes, although the timing of subs was better than Pardew's. But can hardly blame Wilkins for the ball hitting the woodwork three times against Swindon instead of going in the goal!

What the manager can do, which Wilkins couldn't, is start re-building confidence in the team, change the playing style and look for new recruits. Wilkins has said we need new blood in the squad and lets hope Adkins agrees.

Perhaps Wilkins will take over the role of Master of Cones that Rofe excelled at.

Has Adkins replaced or has plans to replace Murdoch at all? I heard kevin pressman was earmarked with the position

Pressman was at Sc^nthorpe as GK coach.Interestingly my son told me Vince Bartram was named as Saints GK coach on the OS.

Correct. He was a decent goalie before his freak injury, would play in goal or in a striker role apparently, although not very good at it.

I was under the impression that Bartram was the GK coach for the Development Academy or whatever the fook they're called.

Maybe he's stepped into the breach though after Murdoch got booted out with Pardew and Downes?

You are having a laugh. His tactics were awful. This was proven against Rochdale when the players didnt even know what was asked of them when he took Oxlaide off. He was uninspiring to say the least. Overall in the three games he was in charge we barely looked like scoring.

I'm not sure you can entirely blame Wilkins' for our last three games... the players have to take their fair share, by the sounds of the performances.

Wilkins actually done a very good job at Brighton with a smaller squad, smaller budget than us a few years back...
