Green pitch doing loads. Adams & Carberry played and missed about a dozen times each. Maddy comes on and starts swinging it a la Bob Massie. Also, the hugely overated Ricky Clarke was made to look a good bowler

Pity we didnt win the toss but as I'm £100 richer when Kent go down. :toppa:

Corky to the rescue and we had them on the ropes when the rain came down. Or not.

To be fair to a number of the players who played over the last 4 days they have either probably played too much cricket ( Adams, Ervine, Cork, Briggs and Tomlinson) or not enough ( Jones). Add to that 3 young players in Vince, Dawson and Bates and that only leaves Carberry who has certainly done his far share and probably would have played every game but for injury and Hughes who struggled in English conditions last year so was not our greatest signing. Considering the long term injuries to Pothas, Kabir Ali and Mascarenhas, the fact Simon Jones was clearly signed with next season in mind and the failure of our overseas players in the CCC then I'm happy enough with staying up and winning the 20/20. Hopefully we'll be more settled next season though the 2 week ban for Dimi is a bit annoying though I doubt he'll miss much cricket.

Rod Bransgrove has made no secret winning the CCC is his target so let's hope we can achieve that next season, something to look forward to anyway !

It's a shame really the Somerset game is set to finish earlier than the others as they didn't really have the opportunity to decide whether to stick or bust. Now they aren't going to reach 181 and need to rely on Lancs to thwart Notts, will be interesting especially if Notts get an early wicket !

At the end of the day the team that won the most games won the title so that's fair enough. Essex only won 2 games including of course the very 1st game of the season v us and got relegated. Kent and Hants won 3 apiece, our vital game was last week and for once things went our way.

If any team might feel a little aggrieved it is Glamorgan after Worcester successfully chased a run target set by Sussex who were already promoted. It was a good effort by Worcester to reach what was a difficult target but one might ask why Sussex allowed a contrived finish with nothing to lose or gain and in fact Worcs got home with about 15 overs to spare. It was also a Susses side missing several key players so I'm inclined to suggest Worcs were lucky, shades of 1974 :(
