Just wondering if any of you knew if Scunny had any players that would improve our team/squad that Adkins could bring with him, on loan until the window opens?

They are a Championship team afterall so must have some that we could nab?

Jack Cork played for both Saints and Adkins before. On a season long loan at Burley and there's 0% chance of him dropping to League 1 anyway, but he is a common link.

you can be sure that most of us wont have heard of any of them, but when we are linked with them there will either be uproar that they aren't good enough or we should definitely sign them as they are the new Maradona.

It just goes to show how far we've fallen, when people are considering which players we might be able to persuade to join us from Scūnthorpe to strengthen our team.

Why?,they're a better team than us.

problem is alot a fans still have their heads burried and dont acknowledge the fact we are in the third divsion, and have no divine right to turn up to any game this year and expect to win easy.if we played s****horpe this weekend we would most likley lose most times they are better than us.

They are a better team than us at the moment, they're very together as a unit and that's credit to the work Adkins has done there.

But i wouldn't say they've got any one that's individually better than anyone in our team. I don't think that's being arrogant, but i think a lot of our players could potentially walk into their team and improve it.

One player i do like though is Rob Jones. He's a CB...not sure if we really need him though.

Duuh you utter twazok, they didn't used to be and this shows how far we have fallen

Yeah I know what he meant mate,40 teams from Prem and Championship never used to be better than us.We may be bigger than a lot of those clubs but at the moment we're not as good as them so there's no shame in taking any S****horpe players on loan.

Jonathon Forte... I have said this ever since we were linked with Adkins. Is 6 foot, quick and can play as a striker or winger. Thats plugs the gap of both antonio, our lack of pace and rickie back up.

Remembering how we felt when Hoddle took Dean Richards to Tottenham I hope we do not do anything of the same as I can't imagine the Iron have any players we would want who they would be happy to lose. Given the integrity that Adkins has shown and his loyalty to his former club, I can't see him tryng to hijack any of their team.

If a club is seeking the best players available if should look across the whole game and not focus on players the manager has previously managed. Burley seemed to take that line and bring in his 'old boys' which probably meant that some potential recruits were not properly considered. Can't see Adkins going down that road.

that is the problem, for a lot of the clowns on here you have to spell everything out to them, incapable of grasping even the most basic concepts.

Really? I think he's a bit of liability in their team. Very tall and good in the air but hopeless with the ball at his feet. Joe Murphy is a cracking keeper and would improve you but he'd cost big bucks. I'm a big fan of Woolford as well. Very good player.

He tried signing Le Fondre in August, a name often touted on here.

Lets also see how Hooper copes at Celtic.

ALF would cost upwards of £2m. Rotherham have a new chairman with a lot of cash, they don't need to sell, and they've publicly said on Radio Sheffield that they want that sort of fee for him if he leaves. A lot to pay for a League 2 striker IMO.

He's had a decent start to this season but his goalscoring record isn't great. I would have thought your current options were better?

I wanna say something, but i'm totally speachless again, what the hell is happening to my lil' Southampton. St Marys is just an echo to the wind these days. I hope this one proves me wrong or we are DIV 2 next season and dare i say it, but the Bournemouth will be Championship. Oh when the Saints...

It's easy to make comments like that from teams that are traditionally far more **** than us.

I feel the same about Wigan, Blackpool, Pompey, Millwall, West Brom, Preston, Hull and countless other teams, but sadly they all have players that would help us.

A sad reality and it's the same with us at Hillsborough.

Forte is quick and would give us width and would score more at this level so that's a yes from me if it was a possibility (can't see NA raiding them though). Le Fondre would be a big lump of money to spend but if NA thought he was worth it and NC and the Liebherr's were happy to back him, why not? If NA thinks that he could be developed into a £10m player that we sold to say Villa in 2 years that's great value particularly if he gets 20 goals this year and gets us out of this division. It would also send a message to Lambert and Barnard - perform or the bench. Right now, a past-it Connolly isn't going to worry them much. Besides which, Le Fondre and Lallana (when fit again in 6 weeks or so) would tear teams at this level apart in movement.

The S****horpe chairman hinted heavily in an interview that the Adkins deal meant no S****horpe players will be joining Saints any time soon. It sounded like it has been written into the contract.

Thread over chaps.
