The players are letting us down

Agreed. BTW I would love WGS to come back !

Hmmm, hardly working wonders at Boro is he? We should leave Strachan where he belongs, as part of our history. It was a magic mix of the right man, for the right club, with the right players at the right time. He should never come back.

As for the players, I agree with the OP 100%.

Also, we need some pace asap.

So we don't need a manager then? the players should be able to sort out themselves? NC will be happy that will save a few bob in compo. Funnily enough when we had a manager it was all his fault when the players didn't perform. No we don't have a manager it's the players fault. I bet the players can't wait for a new manager then they can go back to not being responsible for bad performances.

Of course you do, but the players performances have been lame at best. There was no fight against Rochdale and by the sounds of it, none yesterday either. This is not acceptable whoever is in charge. The team we have put out the last 3 games have conceded six and scored none, they are underperforming massively, whoever the manager players are accountable for their own performance, which hasn't been good enough. Or prehaps you disagree and think the s*it they have been serving is fine and Nigel Adkins can wave his magic wand and they will all become brilliant overnight.

Take it he is not fitting in then.

He's like bambi on ice, but that said Lambert and Connelly both need a stick of dynamite up their arses. We can't afford to drop them, but the centre forwards are definetely the weakest link that needs sorting out urgently.

Cortese, rightly or wrongly in the players' eyes, is paid to run the club as a business.

He's not there to be their 'best mate'.

The players are paid to put in 100% effort for their club.

If they think he's a 'dickhead' there's every chance he's doing things the right way. The fact they think that whilst putting in 50-60%speaks volumes.

De-motivated staff don't work as well as happy ones regardless off the job you want the best from your staff you keep them happy.

I agree with what your saying. I just find it funny a few weeks ago when I suggested the players might be to blame I was shouted down it's all the managers fault, now with out him the players are even worse.

I love the fact that first it was Pardew who was at fault. And now it's still his fault AND the players. It's laughable.

Personally i think the motivation thing is a load of nonsense. These are profesional sportsmen, they are generally self motivated people, that is why they do the job they do, they dont or shouldnt need motivation, if i was a manager of a football club i wouldn't sign a player that needed motivation. If winning league titles, cups and playing in front of 20,000 people every week doesn't motivate them they are ****s. What a good manager can do though is inspire a player, make average players feel like world beaters & make teams feel unbeatable and get the best out of them.

Turkish, doesnt the last part of this come under the general term of 'motivation'

i agree profesional sports men shouldnt need the big motivation speach but here we are discusing it, so that suggests our group of players may need it, unfortunately.

totally agree with most of the stuff said here about the players.

they have no fight, no passion, no will to win. some of them seem like they don't even want to be there. that should definitely not be the case given that they're supposed professionals who are paid fortunes every week. i wouldn't be so angry if they were crap players but they're not. when they give 100% and they're on form, they're amongst the best in the league. put a shirt on any one of us fans and we'd be out there giving everything we've got for our club unlike most of them at the moment.

they should ALL be giving 100%, 100% of the time that they're on that pitch wearing OUR SHIRT.

and its not just the trying. it seems they're afraid. they seem afraid to tackle, afraid to run with the ball and most importantly - AFRAID TO SHOOT!! instead, they just hoof it down the channels, hoping that someone will somehow do something with it further up the field.

if we're gonna have any chance of promotion, we need a new manager in sharpish to give them a kick up the arse, motivate them, make them want to play for the shirt, the club and the fans.

rant over

The Davis article on the OS is the usual "we are disappointed but are a good bunch of lads" stuff. I fear these lads are in for a stuffing on wednesday at MK Dons who will definitely be up for revenge from last seasons defeats and rudderless Saints will be their usual inept selves and come away with NIL again. There isn't enough grit in the side to pull together in adversity , which is what "managerless" means. Its very disappointing after the efforts and promise of last season to see them underperform when a decent start was paramount. Embarrassing for them all I would imagine

No, but NA can bring in quick loan and forward players so that we can release Connolly (who at other clubs has allegedly not been a positive influence when out of the side) and bench Lambert and if he is not fit, get him a series of reserve friendlies to sharpen up and lose a stone or two. The midfield is the biggest problem, the only Southampton calibre one we have is Lallana although Chamberlain is getting there at a young age and will only get better. Hammond and Morgan were a joke yet again, neither of them move to seek possession and what does Hammond actually offer? He doesn't screen the back 4, he can't really tackle without getting booked, has no pace and has little attacking threat or leadership qualities. Two new CMs please that will actually pass, move and get the team moving.

Puncheon is Saganowski MkII, brilliant at times last year for us and MK but seems happiest on loan so let's see if another club can shift his huge bulk of fat and then try and get his motivation back so he comes back to us looking like he gives a toss.

not trying to split hairs but i think that bit is more confidence and belief in their and their team mates ability rather than motivation. But yes you are right, proffesional sportsmen should be amoungst the most highly driven and self motivated people on the planet but sadly it often doesn't seem to be the case.

Agree 100% about Hammond. What we wouldn't do for another Chris Marsden.
