Well let's see, Scunny lost 2-0 at home today. And that was with a massive 61% of possession, 11 shots on target, 10 shots off target, 10 corners.

 

Now if that's the type of result heading our way I'm wondering what's going to change?! OK, so this is slightly said tongue in cheek and I guess Scunny's teams thoughts were elsewhere today, however I think we need to be very prepared for Adkins to take quite sometime to turn things around here.

tbf I think his chairman has sold his two top scorers in successive seasons - and no-one brought in this close season gone.

Will be great to get him in. Hopefully NC helps him get in a couple of loans too.

 

He has conducted himself well throughout this fiasco so lets hope it all gets sorted soon.

 

Their result today is totally irrelevant to anything he will do at Saints...

not overly...really hope i am proved wrong. Gonna take something special to raise the players, and I dont think he will!

 

why is it...most of the player we have, infact, nearly all of the players we have...have played their game at this level or below for most of their careers...

yeah, they must really demand a keegan to bother with work..

well they created a hell of a lot more chance than we are at the moment

I am surprised by the reactions on this thread tbh.

 

He sounds like he's a dead man walking amongst some of the fan base before he's even stepped foot in the door.

 

I've listened to him speak and I've read the comments from his current clubs fans and that is enough for me to build up the opinion that he is an extremely talented manager, waiting for his big break.

 

I fear though that if he loses is first or second games, people will be right on his back. He doesn't deserve that, he's done nothing wrong.

I'm just looking forward to having a manager and something I've been looking forward to since the day I started supporting Saints... stability. No sign of that yet.

Considering they lost their star striker in the summer I wouldn't read too much into it.

 

Funny I thought the same had happened to us. It appears that Rickie Lambert has been replaced with a double who can't score.

Well i hope so, i can't answer that.

 

but he certainly deserves a chance and he'll get my support. The fact that our fans are texting in solent and saying ''what are we doing appointing this relative nobody?'' shows how arrogant we've become.

 

We are L1, and L1 for a reason.

I always find it funny that people think only saints fans are like this they're not, go and read some other clubs forums they're almost all like this football fans are the same everywhere it's not a saints diesease.

Had an injury at the end of pre-season, looked much better today by all accounts and was mentioned more than any other player. Also has 2 goals to his name.

i think we are bad for it...I live in plymouth and they are no where near as bad as this...

they were very happy (in general) to get peter reid in as manager.....I dread to think the meltdown if he came here.

 

adkins is a very astute appointment IMO..on the way up, knows this league and knows how to play football..

 

yet, some still think we can get MoN.....

Totally agree, been watching saints since 1981 so feel I am entitled to mine..

 

Would so love to see SFC back in Championship the the premiership and it bloody hurts when the seasons starts like this especially after the hype..Lets just hope that Adkins can attract some quality loans as thats what we are gonna need.

We just need someone the players can look up to and respect.

 

This is exactly what we failed to do in 2004 when we brought in Luggy. Would have been a different story if we had brought in a high profile manager. Hoddle was one choice but there were others as well.

IMO we really need a very high profile manager now that can lift the players out of the **** !

possibly (not on the hoddle bit, as that's boring now mate), but i still think Adkins has developed high enough reputation in these leagues for players to respect him.

 

We all wanted a big name manager and i think we all kind of felt that's what NC had to do, but it's not going to happen so the next best thing is to go with up and coming talent.

Heaven forbid we got lumbered with Keegan.

 

I just mean he is the only name I can think of that could spark the response from these players urgently that we need.

I'm sure he is a very adequate manager, but as an appointment i'm pretty underwhelmed to be honest. Pardew was doing ok i thought, although something was plainly wrong within the club (dodgy pre season, body language, etc) but as he is to be replaced then i was hoping for someone who would inspire the fans as well as the players. When KK was appointed at Fulham it seemed like a statement of intent. When Pardew was made Boss, it seemed a similar move, but replacing him with Adkins seems like, purely in terms of managerial clout for this league and to use a Corrie analogy, like packing in Kym Marsh to have a go on the bird who plays Janice Battersby.
