egreog Posted 11 September, 2010 Share Posted 11 September, 2010 Can't score........won't score!........this is a shocking result from a bunch of players that should have been out to put the record straight after a 3-0 humping in the cup. Instead an insipid bunch of the so called "best squad in Division 3" fail to score a goal yet again. With or without a manager they are an embarrassment to the club and sit where they should rightfully be......... on the verge of Division 4......... S-Clarke Posted 11 September, 2010 Share Posted 11 September, 2010 tbf we should have known this would have happened. made favorites by everyone in football, so obviously we're going to prove them wrong. It's the saints way. So, so, so depressing. I fell back in love with this club last year, but this year it's just so much of a strain.

itchen_dan Posted 11 September, 2010 Share Posted 11 September, 2010 I agree that it's a bad result but it's not disaster. Ok we're 3rd from bottom and 8 points from 1st but we win our game midweek and that gap drops to 5 points. We're not a mile off points-wise but performance wise we're way off the pace. If the performance gets upped, the points go up and we go up! I have faith that Adkins will get these players playing and will get 3 points in his 1st game in charge! Far be it for me to be anything other than pessimistic, (it's an age related problem) but I think you're right. The right man in, not Browne or Howe, and the season is still very salvageable. And extra signings would be good in January, but, when they are all fit the squad is capable of promotion as it is.

egreog Posted 11 September, 2010 Share Posted 11 September, 2010 Whether Adkins or some other poor unfortunate manager gets the job, he had better bring his magic wand with him! For such an expensively assembled (at this level) bunch the level of performance is shocking. Stand by for another humping at MK Dons who will be out to avenge last season's results. I admire your optimism mush, but to get promoted from this league a team can only afford to lose about 8-9 games over a season. We've lost 3 out of 5 so far and it will take more than a nice bloke from up north to turn up and turn it around immediately.

SaintBobby Posted 11 September, 2010 Share Posted 11 September, 2010 A truly lamentable performance. A crushingly disappointing transfer window and a truly feeble start to the season are beginning to tip over into the disastrous category. Saints are deservedly in the delegation zone. This was yet another excruciating display. The team lacks pace and creativity. To have lost five games already is a woeful under performance. On this display and others, we are miles away from being candidates for promotion.
.comsaint Posted 11 September, 2010 Share Posted 11 September, 2010 4 points from 5 games is absolutely shocking form - manager or no manager. Stand-in gaffer Wilkins & Rickie Lambert say the right things during the week on the OS - prior to the game. But when it comes to the match itself - it's as if none of them can be arsed. And yet again - we seem so inept - so pathetically weak - in front of goal. I can't remember the Swindon keeper flinging himself about during the game - can you?!?! I welcome Adkins with open arms I have to say. He'll have his work cut out initially with getting belief & confidence back in a side that sadly lacking both. And being without the influential Lallana won't help his cause. Roll on monday morning & his appointment. I can't stand too many more of these desperately disappointing saturdays which end ruining my whole weekend. Bloody game football. Sometimes I wish I hated it . . . niceandfriendly Posted 11 September, 2010 Share Posted 11 September, 2010 Some will try to convince you that it is all down to Pardew being fired a few days before the end of the season. Sod the two months before..... I think it's a mixture of both. Our preseason was pretty poor on reflection, but I think Pardew would have sorted it out if he hadn't been shown the door. That's all if's and but's now, so there's no way of knowing, but after the 4-0 victory against Rovers it was clear the team were still playing for Pards, and playing very well. Now we need to bring in Adkins fast. We can't have another week being prepared by Wilkins.

saint_stevo Posted 11 September, 2010 Share Posted 11 September, 2010 Well that was ****ing terrible. Honestly. Only marginally better than last years performance at the same groud. Davis looks shaky and his distribution is toilet, fonte was raping the striker, martin was hoofing it, hardings distribution was a joke. Hammonf was pathetic. So bad, literally offered nothing. Puncheon and Chamberlain drifted in and out of the game and both gave the ball away far too cheaply at times. Lambert looks disinterested and low on confidence. Didn't look like scoring. Even had the goal at his mercy and the keeper sprawled on the deck at one point, ball in 6yard box and tried to side foot it home.....defender recovered. Worryingly bad. Suhari Posted 11 September, 2010 Share Posted 11 September, 2010 We need to stop fannying about and get the manager situation sorted NOW. No excuses. We are still some way from the season being a complete write-off, and I do belive we will go up this year. But losing breeds a losing mentality and that has to be stopped. Think it will be tough for Adkins: we'll butcher him if he doesn't get immediate results! I say pay MON whatever he wants to do the job until the season end. Lallana's Left Peg Posted 11 September, 2010 Share Posted 11 September, 2010 I would just like to point out that the run we had under Pardew once we got over the slow start and 10pt deficit is the best we could hope for from Adkins when he takes over. This slow start is going to cost us, and I hope Cortese realises so, the *****.

Judge_B Posted 11 September, 2010 Share Posted 11 September, 2010 That was massively uninspiring. I've read some of the vitriol and to be honest I don't think anyone on the park had a particularly bad game, but at the same time I don't think we would have scored if we were still out there now. Lambert couldn't get in the game though it wasn't for the want of trying, and Morgan looks like he's trying to do the job of 3 players. Connolly doesn't stand a chance with the ball coming out of the floodlights, and Chamberlain needs to run at the backs more. We need a manager, a sense of purpose and some more strength in depth. Nothing that we don't know already
