Can't score........won't score!........this is a shocking result from a bunch of players that should have been out to put the record straight after a 3-0 humping in the cup. Instead an insipid bunch of the so called "best squad in Division 3" fail to score a goal yet again. With or without a manager they are an embarrassment to the club and sit where they should rightfully be......... on the verge of Division 4.........

tbf we should have known this would have happened.

made favorites by everyone in football, so obviously we're going to prove them wrong. It's the saints way.

So, so, so depressing. I fell back in love with this club last year, but this year it's just so much of a strain.

This group of players just arent good enough. Simple as that. They aren't a promotion winning group. Useless.

If my fiver for here was up for renewal right now, I wouldnt bother. Losing interest.....

I agree that it's a bad result but it's not disaster. Ok we're 3rd from bottom and 8 points from 1st but we win our game midweek and that gap drops to 5 points. We're not a mile off points-wise but performance wise we're way off the pace. If the performance gets upped, the points go up and we go up!

I have faith that Adkins will get these players playing and will get 3 points in his 1st game in charge!

truth hurt...he has been right about the state of the club since the summer

Nope, he's probably right. But does he have to go on about it. It's happened - what happens in the next week or so is now so much more important

Southampton Nil.

What I really need right now is to see a rallying call from a player on the OS.

****s

Yeah, the whole thing of the fans and fellow players being lectured as perfected during the PL relegation season, whilst the players themselves do f**k-all to respond.

So what ?

You say the same things all the time. Its Pardew fault, blah blah blah. Yeah we get it he should have hog tied waigo and antonio, and stopped their clubs taking them back and asking for way to much money for impact players

Far be it for me to be anything other than pessimistic, (it's an age related problem) but I think you're right. The right man in, not Browne or Howe, and the season is still very salvageable. And extra signings would be good in January, but, when they are all fit the squad is capable of promotion as it is.

Erm, he didnt want Waigo back. Nothing to do with money or hog-tying...

Whether Adkins or some other poor unfortunate manager gets the job, he had better bring his magic wand with him! For such an expensively assembled (at this level) bunch the level of performance is shocking. Stand by for another humping at MK Dons who will be out to avenge last season's results. What will this lot do??....very little I suspect but roll over as per today

I admire your optimism mush, but to get promoted from this league a team can only afford to lose about 8-9 games over a season. We've lost 3 out of 5 so far and it will take more than a nice bloke from up north to turn up and turn it around immediately.

We just dont support a team that wins leagues, regardless of the quality of that league. Although we were favs to win it, Southampton and 1st place never seem to go together.

I have it on good authority that Pardews dismissal was due to hog tying of players

We need a nasty Nige to turn it around, just like last time.

We will win against MK Dons on Wednesday . I will be there and Saints always win when I attend and I havent seen them play this season.

Oh Maysie , Its not worth responding to mR Miserable he like that when we win. The best thing I can advise is put him on your ignore. a far better treatment than Beta Blockers

A truly lamentable performance. A crushingly disappointing transfer window and a truly feeble start to the season are beginning to tip over into the disastrous category.

Saints are deservedly in the delegation zone.

This was yet another excruciating display. The team lacks pace and creativity. To have lost five games already is a woeful under performance.

On this display and others, we are miles away from being candidates for promotion.

4 points from 5 games is absolutely shocking form - manager or no manager. Stand-in gaffer Wilkins & Rickie Lambert say the right things during the week on the OS - prior to the game. But when it comes to the match itself - it's as if none of them can be arsed. And yet again - we seem so inept - so pathetically weak - in front of goal. I can't remember the Swindon keeper flinging himself about during the game - can you?!?!

I welcome Adkins with open arms I have to say. He'll have his work cut out initially with getting belief & confidence back in a side that sadly lacking both. And being without the influential Lallana won't help his cause. Roll on monday morning & his appointment. I can't stand too many more of these desperately disappointing saturdays which end ruining my whole weekend.

Bloody game football. Sometimes I wish I hated it . . .

Some will try to convince you that it is all down to Pardew being fired a few days before the end of the season. Sod the two months before.....

I think it's a mixture of both. Our preseason was pretty poor on reflection, but I think Pardew would have sorted it out if he hadn't been shown the door. That's all if's and but's now, so there's no way of knowing, but after the 4-0 victory against Rovers it was clear the team were still playing for Pards, and playing very well.

Now we need to bring in Adkins fast. We can't have another week being prepared by Wilkins.

Well that was ****ing terrible. Honestly. Only marginally better than last years performance at the same groud. Davis looks shaky and his distribution is toilet, fonte was raping the striker, martin was hoofing it, hardings distribution was a joke. Hammonf was pathetic. So bad, literally offered nothing. Puncheon and Chamberlain drifted in and out of the game and both gave the ball away far too cheaply at times.

Lambert looks disinterested and low on confidence. Didn't look like scoring. Even had the goal at his mercy and the keeper sprawled on the deck at one point, ball in 6yard box and tried to side foot it home.....defender recovered.

Worryingly bad.

I could not go today and only listened on the radio but once again a lot of possession and chances but cannot hit a barn door and conceded a soft goal after a needless free kick given away. Depressing but not the end of the world. :(

Just back from the game...... yet another dissapointing display when it came to finishing. The final ball was just not good enough and finishing dire! Lambert looked like he couldn't be ar5ed! There was just no spark in the team! Harding I thought had a good game as he generally does, not sure about Guly at all?!?! Missed Lallana for sure! Good news was a least Kelvin booted the carp out of Austin! Ha Ha!

We need to stop fannying about and get the manager situation sorted NOW. No excuses.

We are still some way from the season being a complete write-off, and I do belive we will go up this year. But losing breeds a losing mentality and that has to be stopped.

Think it will be tough for Adkins: we'll butcher him if he doesn't get immediate results!

I say pay MON whatever he wants to do the job until the season end.

I would just like to point out that the run we had under Pardew once we got over the slow start and 10pt deficit is the best we could hope for from Adkins when he takes over.

This slow start is going to cost us, and I hope Cortese realises so, the *****.

So much for the midweek waffle of the OS saying RL wasn't worried as the goals will come!! He may not be worried , but everyone else is!!

I dont think any one of use who has supported the club through the last 6 or 7 years can be considered a "fair weather fan"

I'm just bored of watching a **** team lose, cant be the only one that is really getting fed up with it

That was massively uninspiring. I've read some of the vitriol and to be honest I don't think anyone on the park had a particularly bad game, but at the same time I don't think we would have scored if we were still out there now. Lambert couldn't get in the game though it wasn't for the want of trying, and Morgan looks like he's trying to do the job of 3 players. Connolly doesn't stand a chance with the ball coming out of the floodlights, and Chamberlain needs to run at the backs more.

We need a manager, a sense of purpose and some more strength in depth. Nothing that we don't know already
