Dr Who? Posted 11 September, 2010 Share Posted 11 September, 2010 (edited) Just wondering if any of you follow Ice Hockey? I have been following the guildford Flames since 1996 when I moved there for a couple of years, and they used to clean up on all the trophies at the time. Used to watch every home game between 1996 - 1998, but have only been a few times since. I find the sport very exciting and fast paced, with many goals always good for all the family. PS - It is not the BNL any more it is the EPL Edited 11 September, 2010 by Dr Who?
saint_jas Posted 11 September, 2010 Share Posted 11 September, 2010 Yep I really do enjoy going to it. Live right next door to the Nottingham Ice Arena so support the Panthers, always a crackin match against the Steelers.
Badger Posted 11 September, 2010 Share Posted 11 September, 2010 Watched Vkings a few times in the 70's. Enjoyed it and could have got into it but they disappeared as did my interest.
OttawaSaint Posted 12 September, 2010 Share Posted 12 September, 2010 Not the British League, but I am a huge fan of the Ottawa Senators in the NHL...
Dr Who? Posted 12 September, 2010 Author Share Posted 12 September, 2010 I like watching the NHL as well, but nothing is quite the same to being at a live game. Not sure why it will not take off on tv over here, as it is exciting, high scoring and fast paced! Anyone seen a game in the States or Canada? Next time I go to New York I want to watch the Rangers. I live near Ottawa so I have been to see the Senators quite a few times, can't beat the playoffs, the atmosphere is amazing. Frolunde? Ice Hockey is a pretty simple game, but fast and exciting. Do a quick google search for terms such as "icing", "offside" and "powerplay" and you will understand why the whistle gets blown and there is a stoppage in play. Hope you have a great time... skintsaint Posted 13 September, 2010 Share Posted 13 September, 2010 Next time I go to New York I want to watch the Rangers. I went to go and watch but the prices were ****ing steep for a game I had no interest in. Thought football was expensive to watch.

Thought football was expensive to watch. True, but the way I see it if you are paying to go to New York, then to go and watch a popular sporting event while you are out there does not really make that much of an impact on the overall expense. Redbul Posted 2 October, 2010 Share Posted 2 October, 2010 Used to work a bit down the old Top Rank ice rink and sometimes used to train with the Vikings. Went to Streatham once to see us play the Redskins and since the So'ton ice rink folded have occasionally kept tabs on Streatham. Was up in Streatham buying a motor a month or so ago and drove past the old Streatham ice rink, that brought back some memories!
