saint lard Posted 10 September, 2010 Posted 10 September, 2010 These comments are amazing. If he really wanted to be here? Besides agreeing terms and waiting for compensation to be agreed? Jesus ****ing christ. Could he not just resign, just where are his loyalties...too niether club it seems.
saint lard Posted 10 September, 2010 Posted 10 September, 2010 Move onto another manager. If he wanted to come here he should have resigned and we would have to pay the due compensation, ie the net worth of his contract. The problem appears to be that the greedy scunny chairman wants more and NA seems to go along with that; so where is his loyalty? Not with SFC. Move on. Exactly, imo.
trousers Posted 10 September, 2010 Author Posted 10 September, 2010 How long will it take if S****horpe lose tomorrow, for some genius poster to declare 'can't even win at S****horpe, hope to god he doesn't come here'? 12 seconds
Lord Duckhunter Posted 10 September, 2010 Posted 10 September, 2010 I remember Ronnie Moore waving and walking around Rotherhams ground in what was supposed to be his last game before moving to Ipswich, the whole thing then went and fell through. I was pretty sure a deal was going to be done today, but that Adkins would take over Monday and be placed on gardening leave by Scunny. I think that if neg's were at an advance stage then he wont be Managing them tomorrow. I just have a gut feeling that this is going to fall through. The money is peanuts, why wasn't it done today? NC is ruthless, he would have got his man by now if Adkins was a nailed on number 1 choice.
SaintRichmond Posted 10 September, 2010 Posted 10 September, 2010 Could he not just resign, just where are his loyalties...too niether club it seems. He was not going to resign, on principal I suggest he takes a look at his Clubs own Forum ....... he may very well change his mind PDQ
saint lard Posted 10 September, 2010 Posted 10 September, 2010 The way he is going he is just gioing to alienate sections of both supporters.imo. Make a decision Adkins,if you want to be at SFC then resign if not just stay at scunny....while you can. He is rapidly burning his bridges.

We needed him here in time to prepare a team for tomorrow. He doesn't seem that interested to me. The principles thing just doesn't ring true. This is professional football. Once he agreed to take us over then it is reasonable to ask him to resign his current position. He should have stayed on Wednesday, and taken training yesterday. I don't think he really wants it, otherwise how on earth could he be taking Scunny tomorrow. Get someone else now.

Yes indeed He is trying to burn the candle at both ends All he ever had to do was say he was, or was not imterested, as Eddie Howe allegedy did Having second thoughts once he got down here does nobody any good IMHO
surrey1saint Posted 10 September, 2010 Posted 10 September, 2010 If compensation is not sorted out tomorrow,he will have to resign ASAP. If this doesn't happen.Next please.

SaintRichmond Posted 10 September, 2010 Posted 10 September, 2010 I would agree that if not sorted tomorrow, yes move on to the next candidate Yep And the only remaining candidate willing to come is Phil Brown Enjoy the moment Nicola
Saints Warrior Posted 10 September, 2010 Posted 10 September, 2010 Adkins not moving to Saints then, Oh no not PB.
gonzo Posted 10 September, 2010 Posted 10 September, 2010 Yep And the only remaining candidate willing to come is Phil Brown Enjoy the moment Nicola Just because he's the only one to make his interest public doesn't mean he is the only one who is interested. HTH
Dalek2003 Posted 10 September, 2010 Posted 10 September, 2010 IMO Adkins is taking the **** ! Should not be our manager, end of !
Minsk Posted 10 September, 2010 Posted 10 September, 2010 ^^^^^^What a bunch of fekin drama queens ^^^^^^^ I honestly feel sorry for Adkins if he does come here. There are obviously a number of 'fans' who clearly don't want him to come and who will be on his back for any perceived reason (to them). It is also no real surprise that many of those who do not want him are also the ones who don't like NC much either. Pathetic. If he had signed for us this afternoon Wilkins would have still been in charge for the match tomorrow. There is nothing NA could have done in ways of preparing the team. They have trained all week with this game in mind. Him coming today would have changed nothing about tomorrow. So him sticking to his contract and doing his job today, and probably tomorrow, means he isn't interested/doesn't care about us? What were all of your guys thoughts of Kenwyne when he spat his dummy out over a move? I honestly hope Adkins does come here. I believe he would be great at SMS and that we could win the league under him. If that were to happen I wonder how many of the drama queens will post apologies on here? (I certainly wouldn't hold my breath waiting for them).
wild-saint Posted 10 September, 2010 Posted 10 September, 2010 you only have to listen to the mans press conferences. its a done deal and will be sorted after the game saturday. NA is 100% our new manager accept it, support him and let the good times roll. i for one am pleased.

Saint_clark Posted 10 September, 2010 Posted 10 September, 2010 Yep And the only remaining candidate willing to come is Phil Brown Enjoy the moment Nicola You have no idea whether this is true or not.

I am leaning more and more towards this point of view with every minute that passes. If the bloke wanted it that much, he'd be here by now.
Saint_clark Posted 10 September, 2010 Posted 10 September, 2010 Well I completely disagree. It's good to see someone sticking to their principles for once. As he has said, he wants to leave the club that gave him his big break with his "head held high".
Jez Posted 10 September, 2010 Posted 10 September, 2010 Yep And the only remaining candidate willing to come is Phil Brown Enjoy the moment Nicola You have no idea whether this is true or not. How do people read so much of this site and post so much without reading or even opening some of the other posts? http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?25114-Cortese-Questions Seems Cortese himself scoffed at the idea of Phil Brown, so seems unlikely it will happen. Unless the whole meeting was a fabrication of multiple people's minds.

CanadaSaint Posted 10 September, 2010 Posted 10 September, 2010 I am leaning more and more towards this point of view with every minute that passes. If the bloke wanted it that much, he'd be here by now. What if he could be sued for the compensation for failing to see out his contract? They seem anxious to get the compensation, but I'm not saying they would sue him but that they could sue him. And they'd probably win, and the money would come out of Adkins' pocket unless he had a deal with Cortese. Honestly, would you be willing to take that risk if you were him?
eurosaint Posted 10 September, 2010 Posted 10 September, 2010 I'm starting to think there's a lot more to this, call it smoke and mirrors if you like. But, if Cortese wanted Adkins that badly then I'm sure compensation discussions wouldn't have dragged on for as long as they have. We have the funds. and apparently Scunny only wanted a modest amount for him - he's only on a 12 month rolling.contract and they settled for less than £100k for Laws when Wednesday poached him, and Laws was held oin similar regard as Adkins up there. This is just a hunch on my part, but these compensation discussions could be now getting dragged on to divert attention away from another manager that Cortese is negotiating with. I don't know who that could be and I'm not going to speculate. And like I said, I'm not basing this on anything I've heard, just gut feeling. We do however know that he's spoken to other managers because of the total lack of discretion from Bournemouth's chairman. I think the twists in the whole saga aren't yet over, and my gut feeling tells me that we may be surprised when the new manager is unveiled. Of course, I could be talking out of my arse and we'll see Adkins unveiled on Monday. Don't worry mate, you are in the right place for this !
dan17 Posted 10 September, 2010 Posted 10 September, 2010 Well I completely disagree. It's good to see someone sticking to their principles for once. As he has said, he wants to leave the club that gave him his big break with his "head held high". Yeah i accept that and I can totally see what you're saying.(and what he's saying).......maybe its just the result of me being super impatient and having had a few beers. I just want a new manager, and I want that manager to WANT to be here.
dan17 Posted 10 September, 2010 Posted 10 September, 2010 What if he could be sued for the compensation for failing to see out his contract? To be honest, if NC wanted him that much and NA wanted to be here that much, I think an agreement on this sort of thing would have been agreed days ago.....but again, maybe i am just being impatient....

I agree with that, and I'm frustrated as well. However, he's getting blamed by some posters when A) he's sticking to his principles - a good sign, I would have thought, and/or B) he's not willing to risk ending up with a big judgment against him. It's all very well people saying "He should just quit" but I don't think it's that simple.
gonzo Posted 10 September, 2010 Posted 10 September, 2010 To be honest, if NC wanted him that much and NA wanted to be here that much, I think an agreement on this sort of thing would have been agreed days ago.....but again, maybe i am just being impatient.... This is exactly the point I made. I just feel that if the deal was going to happen then it would have been finalised today.

(I certainly wouldn't hold my breath waiting for them). Let's get it right, I think Cortese is OK. He wants us to do well, improve and progress. It's just that without facts to go on it's sometimes very difficult to be objective about him. I'm not sure about Adkins, and am disappointed that he's manouvered himself into an intolerable position. The fact that I want him in for tomorrow's match suggests that I think he would improve the club, but then there are a few others out there that I believe would as well. I don't think there are many fans will be on Adkins back. 99% of us will give him every chance and want him to do well.
gonzo Posted 10 September, 2010 Posted 10 September, 2010 I hope you're right there. If he does come here, then it would be utterly moronic to give him a hard time as soon as he walks through the door. You have to support the players and coaching staff.

Saint Pete Posted 11 September, 2010 Posted 11 September, 2010 If Cortese wants Adkins, he should be prepared to pay compensation. End of. If the boot was on the other foot and another club wanted our manager, I'm sure that is what we would expect and demand. I can't really believe that what S****horpe are asking for is a huge amount of money, so it concerns me a bit that Cortese is so reluctant to pay it - may be our financial situation going forward is not as rosy as we've been led to believe ?
NickG Posted 11 September, 2010 Posted 11 September, 2010 why don't you believe they are asking for loads of money? another post where someone hasn't got a f'ing clue what is going on but loving chance to be negative.
