Personally not convinced about other names linked, offers made, people interested etc - media and rumours on here and in national media have been shown to be false.

 

Although I can't help checking on here, or other rumours sites, not taking much seriously unless either on OS, or direct interviews.

 

Are there any facts, or links to direct interviews, that I have missed?

I don't think Brown impressed, he's the only person who has actually been ruled out completely!

 

I think it's fair to say that Eddie Howe has indeed turned the job offer down too

A lad from Barnet has told the Jewish Chronicle that he was interviewed and was offered the job......

 

His mother refused to give him the train fare to Southampton and therefore has ruled himself out..

read some bits on Howe - not totally convinced he was offered a job - we have seen the Scun chairman making some wild desperate comments today.

Are you really that thick? It was on SSN the actual Chairman or was that McGowan then? I heard it, others heard it, its on the BBC, Solent, SSN and Twitter but you just bury your head in the sand.

like the other chairman I heard on the radio first thing this morning! lol. Suggest you keep more of an open mind.

TBF he probably had the hump that he was second choice. Not convinced the chairman wasn't telling a few porkies either - I suspect it makes him / Howe look good.

Finally some sanity. As far as I know this is all of it. The rest is conjecture, and turned into a shambles by the over zealous members of this board!

 

FWIW I think Adkins will be confirmed tomorrow, a club statement will be issued saying he was the only one officially offered the job and that any other information was incorrect. The statement will also end "fans are urged to ignore speculation and any information regarding the future of the club will be found first at www.saintsfc.co.uk"

I have no idea why Eddie Mitchell went on live on SSN and said what he did - all I know is he did but apparently according to NickG he didn't as there are no quotes anywhere!

The Howe story is also supported by the statement from the Club today "SFC wishes to make it clear that it is continuing its discussions with a number of potential candidates for the post of First Team Manager." Its up to NickG what he chooses to believe, but people with an agenda sometimes mislead themselves.

I am not disputing that you saw it.

So the Bournemouth chairman is not involved ..the chairman of Bournemouth said that his manager had been approached but turned it down live on SSN but is not involved in another club appointing his manager???

 

I have no doubt that there are games and brinkmanship here but come on.

Talking to a manager doesnt constitute offering them the job. If NC wanted Howe he wouldnt have spent all night negotiating with NA only to change his mind in the morning!

If it was the manager saying it, I would believe it, but as it is the chairman, well we all know they speak out of their rear end. Still I do not think anyone really knows what is going on, and the situation is a mess!

The cherries chairmans statement is for home consumption, if Howe was not interested why agree to the interview, and I don't accept the "lots of people go for interviews with no intention of taking the job" argument in this instance, they don't do it in the full glare of there current bosses and customers. It was public knowledge that Howe was a candidate, as he has not got the job he has to go back and make his peace with the cherries fans the chairman is just easing the way and ****ing a snoop at his much larger near neighbour. After all football is only a game.

You see the way it could easily be is that these people have gone for an interview then they either decided that they want it much like anyone else would so for example eddie howe probably said I like what your doing but I have a job to do for bournemouth so thanks for seeing me but it's not for me. Then theirs NA who probably did the same and then the club decided that they would ask how much they would want for him and were in negotiations. Basically it smacks of 2+2 = 5 but the media want to spin it out as it sells papers and they want to be the first to say we had it first. Personally i'm bored and would just like it sorted out infact it would be nice the the internet imploded for the time being until this situation is resolved.

Maybe Howe knew he wasn't going to be offered the job off the back of his meeting with NC, therefore might have been twisted by him that he wasn't going to take it. I would be amazed if he genuinely turned saints down, turmoil or not. Bigger club, more money. Why would he?

To settle Howegate:

 

1. Howe goes to interview.

2. Cortese outlines role and asks Howe if he is interested

3. Howe says "No, I'm not playing 2nd fiddle to Lou Reed"

4. Howe goes home and tells chairman he knocked us back

5. Chairman tells world Howe was offered the job and turned it down.

The only thing I know is that we have not got a manager and have lost two home games since the old one left
