It may be the case, it may not Alps, but at least we have a manager now. Not quite the wow factor I was hoping for but good luck to the bloke. There is logic in that , but given that Solent is a media company, what really matters is how many people want to listen. Based on crowd figures, likely Solent audience figures for the 3 local teams would go in order: Saints, Pompey Bournemouth, Weymouth. There's at least as much logic therefore in that being the order of precedence on Solent.

If you read his comments from the links above, you'll get a feeling for how much he thinks of AFCB and what the fans think of him too. But as stated before in this thread, AFCB fans are well aware that eventually he will move on when he feels the right offer comes along. Why shouldn't Howe be aware of interest in him and for all we know that could be a clause in his contract.

ossie1 Posted 13 September, 2010 Share Posted 13 September, 2010 Why is your club badge so ghey? the same may be said of your latest kit! Its clear that Cortese was trying shaft Scunny over compensation. (that was made public) Having Interviewed our manager he thought he could bully Scunny presuming he had Eddie Howe to turn to if Scunny didnt play ball...and the other way around. Cortese, I daresay intended to play one club off against the other. Eddie clearly realised what a tosspot setup he was dealing with and hopefully told him so and turned down the offer (which would have come when Scunny stalled) I doubt either Howe or Adkins were offered the job initially...your creep Cortese was trying to bully both clubs into submission and take his pick, Howe forced his hand and made him work for Adkins and the embarrassment that followed. Anyway its settled....Nice to see you all ripping the **** out of your new manager before he even arrived.....hopefully he will royally mess things up for you (although I doubt it as I rate the bloke - shame you dont)

St Marco Posted 13 September, 2010 Share Posted 13 September, 2010 Sounds to me Howe applied for the job, got interviewed, got rejected. If you look at the way the whole thing has now happened and the facts we now have the reason it took so long to appoint adkins was because we could not agree compensation. If you look at Adkins comments in the whole thing he has been pretty open and honest about everything from the start. His chairman obviously was ****ed off at our offer hence his comments. They admitted about the aproach. However down the road it has been a bit more secret. Howe and his chairman who once said they would be totally honest about what happens decided to go into secrecy mode. Why? What do they have to lose by doing what S****horpe did and admit yes there has been an aproach? And then after that say yes he has been interviewed? By not commenting about it to me means they have something to hide. And i would bet the reason for the silence is to protect Howe. He seems like a decent guy to me. But if someone offers you the chance to be a millionaire which he would of probably become managing Saints i doubt very many would turn it down. As the offer never came off the table and Eddie or your chairman has never said the job was offered , what is the problem? In the words of Adkins before Eddie had decided the interview was too much, "Saints have behaved impeccably". Now if only a few others could restrain themselves and stop trying to foist their manager in our direction, so much the better. You are wiser in the knowledge Eddie wants to leave, just a question of money and being offered.

Howe went for an interview, the rest of the 'facts' are left to different sides interpretation. If Howe had been offered the job and been first choice, hand on heart do you accept he would have accepted it then? It is apparent he was second choice and he knew that and so came away licking his wounds. He (and Mitchell) then had to firefight, what a great way to appease your fans by saying he turned the job down. Perhaps the finances are not so good down at B'mouth again, perhaps the club needed some compensation
