itchen Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 Lest just all calm down and look at the facts: 1. Does look likely that NA hasd agreed terms with NC - but as is typical of the Swiss, they like to act professionally and do this all behind closed doors until a deal is confirmed - If it does not happen, nothing will be released which is the professional way of doing things. 2. Need to negotiate the compensation - NC wants to play hardball - afterall its all part of the negotitions. 3. Scunny chairman goes to the Torygraph, saying he cant get hold of NC and compensation not agreed - toys are thrown out the pram - SFC stays silent as they should 4. BBC/SSN other media pick up the story and suddenly its ' offer withdrawn' there is no evidence for this , as indeed there is no evidence that terms wer agreed in the first place. 5. Saints fans react to the above calling NC all sorts of names, and siding with Scunny chairman against Cortese 6. Saints issue formal statement say no truth in 'ransom demands' and thats all we will say until a deal is done - like I said professional and teh way of the swiss 7. saints fan continue to rant that Cortese is an arse.. 8. Press conference/interview with Adkins suggests still in negotiation - which to me ties in with the Saints statement... Now look at the above and how stupid does it make 5 and 7 appear? Yes, but can we continue to call him an arse anyway, just for fun?

saint lard Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 (edited) I am liking the prospect of NA at the helm. He is a clever bloke, proffesional and principled. As others have stated, those saying they are not happy at the thought of him coming in, are the ones who know nothing of him. Much like the lads I work with who's reaction when I said "looks like Adkins has the job", they all scrunched there faces and said "Who? Never heard of him, what a sheeite choice blah blah blah blah blah", but he has a track record of success at this level on no budget whatsoever, with young players and good football. I am looking forward to not hearing about bad pitches, not watching hoofball to lambo and hopefully not having to scream about the lack of a blatantly needed substitution that only arrives when it is too late. Those that have questioned his press conference... Did you never listen to an interview with AP? I seriously couldn't count on all my fingers, toes or limbs at how many times AP couldn't pronounce the names of his OWN players!!! Bit of a sweeping generalisation. And none of us know what he would be like at the next level, when the pressure will most certainly be on....if he is given the chance to get us there. Edited 9 September, 2010 by saint lard
BadgerBadger Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 After the first 2 minutes it was extremely painfull listening. NA needs to take some lessons from WGS. Sounds like it's almost done, I for one will be happy if it is.
saintjay77 Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 At the end of the day..... It gets dark.

CanadaSaint Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 Didn't Nigel say words to the effect that Saints have conducted themselves properly? I think he said "implacably" when I hope he meant "impeccably".
Colinjb Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 Didn't Nigel say words to the effect that Saints have conducted themselves properly? Yes, he categorically did.

Maybe Cortese should get back on the blower to MO'N.
saintscottofthenortham Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 It gets dark. SaintScottoftheNortham thinks that's fair enough to say...
Saints Pedro Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 Why doesn't Nigel Adkins speak for himself rather than rely on this spokesman???
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 Why doesn't Nigel Adkins speak for himself rather than rely on this spokesman??? Lol, I'm not sure if you're joking or not, but either way it's funny.
CWD Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 In all fairness Nigel Adkins wasn't helped by the fact that the journos just kept asking the same questions!
Saint_clark Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 Nigel Adkins Job Interview Even so badly edited that is still funny.
buctootim Posted 9 September, 2010 Author Posted 9 September, 2010 Nigel Adkins Job Interview Who got shafted in the end?

dubai_phil Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 (edited) At the end of the day, Dubai_Phil went out to examine the offer that arrived from a newly opened English Fish & Chip Shop located a mere 400 metres from Dubai_Phil's abode. Dubai_Phil can now report that the crispy battered Cod and fresh chunky cut potatoes were, up until that point the single most interesting thing that had happened during Dubai_Phils' day. Until of course Dubai_Phil read this thread right at the end of the day, beginning of a new day. Dubai_Phil remains whelmed at the events of the day, and, at the end of the day, all things being equal, Dubai_Phil did not get where he is today without having a pleasant chortle at the events of the day that has ended and, truly, without a doubt an added chortle at the media & Mr Wharton who, in Dubai_Phil's opinion have, at the end of the day, just had their whacko jacko media moments. Dubai_Phil believes that for true comedy value, Nicola Cortese should unveil Zola as our new manager tomorrow. (Sorry I like the way Adkins has handled himself and his record and standing, and I think he will do a really great job. However I think giving him the job simply because he really reaaly wants it is not a good reason at all. Nickh & Dubai_Phil really really wanted the job as well). Dubai_Phil wishes to thank those such as 1976Child who posted before that for the inspiration Oh and FC - yep I agree And yes Dubai_Phil doesn't really wish to now see Zola but is believed to be willing to accept the potential 3rd Choice should circumstances prevail Edited 9 September, 2010 by dubai_phil
Pip Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 Art, notwithstanding the results since he left (we weren't getting results before that) I'm far from convinced that the players "respected Alan Pardew". And I would bet that this "physio come manager" is on an entirely different plane to Pardew - tactically, motivationally, intellectually, conversationally and just about every other way. So how about giving him a chance to prove it? Strange you should say that. I met some of the players recently and the conversation turned to Pardew and his playing career etc and one of my companions said to one of the players "you must all respect him" After a few seconds pause the answer was "yeah yeah course we do" which left us in no doubt that the opposite was true. In fact, later in the conversation a very bitter remark was made about his tactics and substitutions.
