SO16_Saint Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2148505,00.html Basically says were still looking and doing things above board
SO16_Saint Posted 9 September, 2010 Author Posted 9 September, 2010 Changed his mind at the last minute?! NC or NA, do you think? Or MoN?
trousers Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2148505,00.html Southampton Football Club ("the Club") wishes to make clear that it is continuing its discussions with a number of potential candidates for the post of First Team Manager. Contrary to some highly misleading comments published this morning, the Club has made no ultimatums, has not made any approaches without appropriate permissions, and is fully aware that appropriate compensation payments become due where the candidate managers are currently under contract. The Club has acted in an entirely professional manner and will continue to do so. No further comment will be made on this matter until the Club has appointed a new First Team Manager.
Toadhall Saint Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 So basically putting Scvnthorpes Chairman right about a few things.
docker-p Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 Translates as "We've been caught with our trousers down fiddling"
Colinjb Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 Misleading media reports perhaps? There had been nothing from our end until now so maybe, just maybe some people had jumped the gun.
trousers Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 Translates as "We've been caught with our trousers down fiddling" I did nothing of the sort
COMEONYOUREDS Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 Interesting the headline of the article says First Team Manager, not coach. Slightly more encouraging
DrZuess1979 the 2nd Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 Moan when things are said moan when there not Nothing changes in the world of swf
Norm Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 Someone's telling porkies? Either the Chairman of S****horpe is telling fibs or we are.
iansums Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 Translates as "We've been caught with our trousers down fiddling" Translates as 'Wharton, you're a F***ing liar!'
Wade Garrett Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 'continuing its discussions with a number of potential candidates for the post of First Team Manager' There you go. The official line is we haven't made our minds up yet. Ridiculous the amount of time it's taking. Maybe this is a weakness in the new structure of the club. If it takes this long to appoint a manager, how long to sign a player. Not happy.
Wade Garrett Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 Interesting the headline of the article says First Team Manager, not coach. Slightly more encouraging Does that mean it's MON?
SNSUN Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 Sounds like Cortese f@rted and is wafting it towards Glanford Park.
Toadhall Saint Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 Someone's telling porkies? Either the Chairman of S****horpe is telling fibs or we are. Who do you support? Me I'm Saints so I'll go with our side of things until I hear anything differently.
saintmonkey1979 Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 Translates as 'Wharton, you're a F***ing liar!' this
Colinjb Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 Someone's telling porkies? Either the Chairman of S****horpe is telling fibs or we are. Or maybe no one is lying. Adkins agrees terms subject to compensation to his current club and that has not been possible to negotiate. Scunny are p*ssed off as their fans favourite wants out but they can't get the money they want for him. We are in limbo as the negotiations have been fruitless. The search continues. No need for the vitriol, surely.
saint lard Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 This is the first word we have had officially from SFC for sometime, including this morning reference Adkins. At no point did SFC claim it was a done deal with Adkins, all guess work by the media which appears to have been led by the scunny chairman. i will keep an opened mind.
sotonist Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 Out the window with no comments on speculation then. feeble attempt to save face.
buctootim Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 Won't be Atkins now though will it! Dunno. Speculation on Scunny board Adkins has been placed on gardening leave. Might still be him.
saintmonkey1979 Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 Won't be Atkins now though will it! I wouldn't think so. I can't imagine him being too popular at Scunny either, having (reportedly) agreed terms with us. How can his reputation there be intact after actively trying to leave?
JonnyLove Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 See this is what happens when people talk before it is confirmed by the club first. (See Echo issue on training ground and also that defender from Voventry as well). That means Phil brown is out as well as he blabbed on talk sport yesterday. So far MON and EH have been very silent on all fronts.
suewhistle Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 There are various scenarios but that described by Colinjb seems a very possible explanation.
angelman Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 Won't be Atkins now though will it! wouldn't have thought so.
Norm Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 Who do you support? Me I'm Saints so I'll go with our side of things until I hear anything differently. Are you a little thick? Why would I post on here and have supported Saints since 1956 if I wasn't a Saints supporter? Perhaps I'm not blinded to see the other side of the coin, as you seem to be.
Jimmy_D Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 Notice how the quotes from the Scunny chairman don't say we didn't offer any compensation, only that none was agreed. Methinks they were asking for a silly amount and we walked away. What's caused their chairman to come out with claims of tapping up in effect... could be us, could be him, but there's no way of telling for the moment.
SO16_Saint Posted 9 September, 2010 Author Posted 9 September, 2010 The Club (NC) cant win, can he. He doesnt say anything - he's slated He says something - he's slated
alehouseboys Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 Just goes to show some of the drama queens on here should all take a deep breath before getting too carried away. Keep an open mind and some could do with growing one of these... The amount of backtracking that's been going on around these parts in recent weeks is comical.
Norm Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 Or maybe no one is lying. Did you read the quote from the Scunny chairman and the statement from SFC? They contradict each other! No vitriol, just making the comment that one is telling porkies.
Colinjb Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 The Club (NC) cant win, can he. He doesnt say anything - he's slated He says something - he's slated It's an emotional business this. I firmly believe nothing untoward has happened.
Gator Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 Sounds to me like Cortese slept on his decision last night and woke with cold feet. Perhaps considers Adkins to risky and would prefer a 'bigger' name to make the immediate impact that the players would respond too.
fareham saint phil Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 RONSEAL, does extactly what it says in our statement
Jimmy_D Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 I wish they'd update the BBC article with our statement, looks very bad on us atm until they do, when it'll be down to people to make their own mind up.
COMEONYOUREDS Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 Does that mean it's MON? I could tell you, but it wouldn't be fair to release that information right now
Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 The Club (NC) cant win, can he. He doesnt say anything - he's slated He says something - he's slated That's because he's a ****wit.
Colinjb Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 Did you read the quote from the Scunny chairman and the statement from SFC? They contradict each other! No vitriol, just making the comment that one is telling porkies. I am a little concerned that the Scunny chairman stated we made an ultimatum for him to resign but that doesn't strike me as Cortese's style. So I would refer back to my theory and this being an emotional p*ssed off reaction from him.
MarkSFC Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 'continuing its discussions with a number of potential candidates for the post of First Team Manager' Ridiculous the amount of time it's taking. Maybe this is a weakness in the new structure of the club. If it takes this long to appoint a manager, how long to sign a player. Not happy. I think most people are impatient as you, me included, but it's hardly ridiculous or a slant on the structure. Probably more indicative of the number of applicants. Aston Villa took 3-4 weeks to appoint Houllier and they apparently only interviewed 3 people. Get a grip mate!!!!
Toadhall Saint Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 Are you a little thick? Why would I post on here and have supported Saints since 1956 if I wasn't a Saints supporter? Perhaps I'm not blinded to see the other side of the coin, as you seem to be. Sorry Norm not meant the way it came across - what I was trying to say is I'll beleive my club before S****horpe
saint lard Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 Won't be Atkins now though will it! Thankfully, no.
del boy Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 i will keep an opened mind. Weirdo - this is a forum, get that knee primed for jerking
S-Clarke Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 Why are we saying that the reports are misleading? The fact that scunny have said we're hard to deal with is backed up throughout football. I have no idea what Cortese is doing.
OldNick Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 if we ever have negotiations with other clubs regarding a maanger i doubt that they will spill the beans before time. Phone up Bournemouth and get Howe he is on a par to NA
The9 Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 I wish they'd update the BBC article with our statement, looks very bad on us atm until they do, when it'll be down to people to make their own mind up. I hope they leave it as it is, reporting the truth not our embarrassing fingers-in-ears-not-listening denial of everything.
