My God what crap. He is a jerk. He may be a Swiss banker but he is no Manager and his diplomacy style is akin to Atilla the Hun !!

He maybe Rupert's secret love child.

Is this the Wow factor we were after?

Wow we still don't have a manager.

Or WOW our Chairman needs to learn more about the football business in England before he makes the club look even more stupid.

Could all be a smoke screen........... or just another attempt by scunny to up the money..

or another manager was always on the agenda...

That's it, no one knows!!!!

But he didn't need a f**king smoke screen for that because we don't have a clue...

"S****horpe chairman Steve Wharton believes Nigel Adkins' proposed switch to Southampton has fallen through."

"Wharton said: "The latest I've heard is that Southampton have withdrawn their offer to Nigel." "

"But at the moment I am not exactly sure what the situation is until I have talked further to Nigel."

Seems a lot of noise coming from the S****horpe end......

I wasn't facepalming because of the new thread, it's a genuine new development. I was facepalming at the absolute shambles the club seems to be making of what should be a fairly simple recruitment process.

Steve e-mail me a copy of your CV, with your prowess on the pitch and my administration skills we could apply for the job as a double act.:D

3 possibilities:

1. NC got cold feet and has a late better offer arise and is using the compensation offer as a way out - just like the Elliott Ward transfer last year.

2. Adkins got cold feet and is using the compensation issue as a way to save face with Scunny fans.

3. It is just an almighty c*ck-up.

Whatever, NC really can't want him that much.

And perhaps Adkins is not overly commited to joining us.

.

Surely if that was the case he would just say he didn't want to leave, rather than try to make it look as though he wanted to come but compensation couldn't be agreed.

Jesus wept! It's a f**k up by Cortese, why can't you just hold your hands up and admit it.

So we've heard nothing from either Saints or Adkins, but a load of contradictory and self-aggrandising "look at me, I'm being victimised (and I want more money)" waffle from the Scunny chairman. I can't see how that equates to us being a shambles or a laughing stock. If their chairman wants blather and squinny to the press all day then let him. A deal will be done or it won't be, he's the one who looks like a tit at the moment. Seems like all his statements end with a confession that he doesn't know what's going on and hasn't spoken to his manager.

Totally agree. I couldn't bear to leave this club and fans sounds a lot better than I was off but Saints wouldn't cough-up so I'm stuck with you lot.

I say **** him and his desire to get the best deal for Scu nthorpe. If he wants to manage Saints the I want him to try and get the best deal for SFC. He could walk out with his head held high, say what a wonderful club s****horpe are and go with a clean conscience knowing he had does his best but a bigger/better challenge had come his way. I don't think anyone would think badly of him.

As for this NC bashing, it's very worrying. So much seems to be "known" about what is going on without getting any facts and seems to be typical of Saints fans.

Solent reporting from "inside the Saints" that the offer has not been withdrawn and that Scunny are just trying to up the payment.

They did not add that the Scunny chairman is alleged to have had a fight on the training ground, eats babies and sh*gged players wives but maybe we will read that on here later?

NC conducts his business in private, Scvnthorpe conduct their business in public. Spot the difference! Scvnthorpe didn't want to lose Adkins,so the chairman 'goes public' which obviously causes a major upset. Remember, you have heard only one side of the argument again and are only likely to.

I think Adkins is right and it shows he has decency and loyalty - two traits which his new employer should value.

Compensation is there for a reason, if we decide to be underhand and stitch other clubs up by making managers resign - other clubs will just do the same to us so we wont gain anything at all.

Adkins has gone up in my estimation.

Yes, this is entirely true, Scunny don't like what was offered (the 'deal' for NA to resign) so have tried to make the deal entirely unworkable by coming out in public. Only person who certainly 'commands' respect as a result of this is Adkins, for sticking to his principles and not shafting his 'old' (current) club.

Well if adkins applied for the post which im guessing he must have then why should we pay compo? if offered job he should then resign....

As with any resignation there is a period of notice to be worked or compensation to the employer in lieu. Adkins has a 12 month contract so he can either pay compensation himself or his new employer can do it for him. He won't and we're limiting what we're offering. It will be thrashed out.

Like I say this can goto a tribinual and considering NA is on a rolling 12 month contract, maybe on £100k a year I cant see the compensation being load

Scunny chairman seems to be playing games here...why did they release the statement saying that Adkins had agreed terms this morning if the clubs hadn't agreed terms? Surely the chariman would have known about the compensation issue then if, as is inferred in the sky article, Adkins had been asked to resign yesterday?

Lots of Cortese bashing going on here, but TBF he hasn't released any information to the press at all about a decision so it's not like he's doing a public u-turn!

To be fair, am a little dissappointed that it will be adkins, but, I am happy to see the results change before I get upset. However, this is not a f**k up by NC. In fact, he's done it exactly right. Do youreally think that when NC spoke to Scunny Chairman (and this is the important part) BEFORE he offered the role to Adkins, that compensation WASN'T discussed, not mentioned, no hints at all, just NC goin, can I speak to your first team manager, scunny chairman, yeah, ok! You dooshbag!

Compensation would have already been talked about, even if ball park figure, scunny chairman hoped Adkins would stay and if he agreed to the Saints role, would try and get a bit more cash to make it seem better. However, verbally at least it had already been agreed. The reason he quotes Adkins is because of what he said BEFORE he agreed with Saints. The reason he can't get hold of Saints is because comp had already been agreed, no longer warrents a discussion. Reason Scunny chairman is in the news is that he is publically asking for more money because he can't reneg on his previous agreement.

This isn't, as much as you want it to be, NC's fault.

Like I said, don't necessarily agree with appointment, don't know the facts behind Pardew dismissal, BUT, that's not NC's fault either. Get over it.

Sure, dislike NC, but find a reason first, not because Scunny chairman is on the scrounge! (as he probably should do by the way)

Were we a laughing stock before, possibly. Are we one now, must deffo.

First get rid of a manager (AP) with prem experience and then replace with one who doesn't have that (NA) , but yes he has got a team out of this div and whilst I wasn't jumping for joy by his appointment I can see why he was chosen and would have preffered him to Adams, Hart or Howe.

Now it seems we now not even get him.

MON must be out of the question otherwise surely he would have been preferred to NA which leaves me to believe we will 'settle' for someone not as good as NA.

anyone got NC´s mailadress ? he really needs to make a statement now about all this mess. I really start to dislike that man now...

based on what? you have no idea why the offer was withdrawn, even if there was an offer in the 1st place

Too damned right! I am thoroughly disgusted as this is a classic out of Lowe's books on treachery. I hated Lowe from the moment he put Jan Poortviert through the humiliating antics of having to pay his former club compensation out of his own pocket. With Marcus gone, I don't like what I see one little bit. My pride in the club after the takeover has disintegrated into utter shame and repulsion. :(

Hm, Scunny chairman is spinning that I reckon.

Notice it says that compensation wasn't agreed, NOT that we didn't offer any.

I reckon we tried to come to an agreement, Scunny wanted a silly amount of compensation ("difficult to work with") and THEN we (stupidly) tried to get him to resign.

Posted

This is nonsense. Whether you believe the papers or not, and whatever your opinion on NC is, you cannot deny that our club is fast becoming a joke, with the cartoons, subbuteo and now this faffing about with compensation.

I have backed NC thus far and will give him the benefit of the doubt until PROVEN otherwise but it really doesn't look good from an outsider's perspective.

EDIT: Just seen the OS statement, ok great but there's no smoke without fire

If NA has not agreed because he thinks that Scunny need to be better compensated then he sounds like a principled guy. Shame we might not be getting him.

If the shoe was on the other foot and he was our manager refusing to go to say Man Unt because they didn't want to pay proper compensation then we'd love him for it.

Good on you NA, I just hope NC learns from this experience.
