saint lard Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 Well that was fun while it lasted,i thought he would be here for 9 months,a tad optimistic it seems.
Topcat Posted 9 September, 2010 Author Posted 9 September, 2010 Adkins may well think twice over coming even if Cortese backs down and agrees to pay the compensation. Adkins will wonder what calibre of Chairman will he be working for.
monkadill Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 Again we hold the crown for being the most ridiculously run club! Hooooooooooooray! We are cursed!
Greenridge Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 Can't this be added to one of the other threads I'm getting dizzy
sandwichsaint Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 Wilkins next? Gutted ... I've followed Adkins for a good few seasons and he ticked all my boxes! NC better have a decent plan C! (or are we onto plan Z yet?) 'kin shambles!
Topcat Posted 9 September, 2010 Author Posted 9 September, 2010 Can't this be added to one of the other threads I'm getting dizzy Its a major new development.
St.Patrik Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 anyone got NC´s mailadress ? he really needs to make a statement now about all this mess. I really start to dislike that man now...
kpturner Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 Impasse = no future in it (even if resolved).
dubai_phil Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 Hell, even in the crazy world of Football, I think this must be a first. We had a new manager for about 2 hours. Outstanding. Sweepstake on how long the new new manager will last anyone?
Topcat Posted 9 September, 2010 Author Posted 9 September, 2010 Cortese looks to have blown out a new Manager ahead of Saturday. Anyone he approaches now will know that they were 2nd choice and that they better count their fingers after any hand shake.
paris Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 Oh dear ,might be time for NC to ship out .....................
Flyer Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 Now whats going to happen, clubs are not going to let Saints speak to their manager because they know pressure will be put on them to resign and the club will get no money. Whoever they approach now will know they arent 1st choice and may not be happy. Saints may be stuck with going for an out of work manager. Magilton, Dowie, Hart etc.
CrickladeSaint Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 WTF, i am stunned. Cortese is turning us into a joke.
Scottydog67 Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 I think maybe 'Don Corleone' Cortese has been reading some of the negative posts on here??
warsash saint Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 now whats going to happen, clubs are not going to let saints speak to their manager because they know pressure will be put on them to resign and the club will get no money. saint lard Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 I will now go for ...Shearer/ Keegan. If not,Zola/Clarke.
DG Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 Just great, who the hell will we end up with now?
Greenridge Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 Lock it then, it might speed up the forum!
Scottydog67 Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 I have just see Jimmy Crankie pulling up outside St Marys !!
Draino76 Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 If Adkins cannot handle the pressure today from NC, as I thought, its probably best that he doesn't com here. This is no frying pan; this is an industrial size deep fat fryer like what is used at Harry Ramsdens.
stevegrant Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 Lock it then, it might speed up the forum! I wasn't facepalming because of the new thread, it's a genuine new development. I was facepalming at the absolute shambles the club seems to be making of what should be a fairly simple recruitment process.
Window Cleaner Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 Hell, even in the crazy world of Football, I think this must be a first. We had a new manager for about 2 hours. Outstanding. Sweepstake on how long the new new manager will last anyone? no we didn't,maybe there is a reason for all this, a power play on someone else for instance. Cortese knows what he's doing, it's just not the same way as most other people, that's what makes him a football CEO and former swiss banker and other people dustmen (sorry refuse collection operatives) and shop assistants.
Topcat Posted 9 September, 2010 Author Posted 9 September, 2010 Dear Mr Cortese. To help you with your HR problem. In banking if you hire someone employed by another they will have a period of notice to work ranging from 1 to 6 months. In football they will have a contract where the notice period is usually 12 months. Now you can wait for them to work the notice or if you want a Manager right away, someone has to pay the compensation.
Iowsaintsfan Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 he just got a call from Mon Begging for the job at last min
s0108787 Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 So maybe, scunny wanted £1m for and we offered £500k? Cortese says, you have to resign if you want to come here, we will thrash out compensation at tribuneral if need be. Adkins says, no I'm not selling scunny short.
Greenridge Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 I wasn't facepalming because of the new thread, it's a genuine new development. I was facepalming at the absolute shambles the club seems to be making of what should be a fairly simple recruitment process. Fair enough but the very same thing is being discussed on at least two other threads and the forum is in meltdown. Not a dig at the OP but it is getting hard work to keep up!

Barry the Badger Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 I am hoping this is all just a hard bargaining process being played out in public.
Pokerchampion Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 we offered 200k they want 500k , deal dead in the water , as Adkins wouldnt resign as he thought it was fair for Sunthorpe to have compensation , this would have riled Cortese for sure , if Adkins had desire he would just jump ship , but he hasnt so it plan b c d or even e , or unless someone like MON has said hes intrested . In the back of my imnd i always thought it might be a smoke screen for a bigger name to come in .
Noodles34 Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 no we didn't,maybe there is a reason for all this, a power play on someone else for instance. Cortese knows what he's doing, it's just not the same way as most other people, that's what makes him a football CEO and former swiss banker and other people dustmen (sorry refuse collection operatives) and shop assistants. why do people insist that Cortese knows what he is doing? Sorry, but what i have seen recently suggests otherwise, as well as that we are becoming a 'joke' of a club. Ally Dia played in the Pl for us, did that make him a footballer? All this, successful businessman, swiss banker ******** does not actually mean he knows what he is doing in the world of football, and clearly after this morning, he has no idea.
dubai_phil Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 Never, ever ever, in the History of Saints Forums has there been a truer post or more accurate use of a Smiley
exit2 Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 Just great, who the hell will we end up with now? The problem here is that who ever comes will know they are second best!
Goalie66 Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 no we didn't,maybe there is a reason for all this, a power play on someone else for instance. Cortese knows what he's doing, it's just not the same way as most other people, that's what makes him a football CEO and former swiss banker and other people dustmen (sorry refuse collection operatives) and shop assistants. My God what crap. He is a jerk. He may be a Swiss banker but he is no Manager and his diplomacy style is akin to Atilla the Hun !!
Topcat Posted 9 September, 2010 Author Posted 9 September, 2010 It is noticeable that S****horpe work hard at keeping their supporters informed on developments whereas Saints employ silence.
Topcat Posted 9 September, 2010 Author Posted 9 September, 2010 (edited) why do people insist that Cortese knows what he is doing? All this, successful businessman, swiss banker ******** does not actually mean he knows what he is doing in the world of football, and clearly after this morning, he has no idea. Where was he a "successful businessman,". His CV indicates that he was the account manager at a bank handling high net worth individuals. He has never run a business prior to Saints. Pokerchampion Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 S****horpe chairman , said Southampton have been very difficult to deal with , and are probably not the type of people Adkins would want to work for . Apparently Adkins was told by Cortese resign and accept our offer by last night or the deals off . Adkins probably thought s h @ t im not going down there now .
Block 5 Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 In the back of my imnd i always thought it might be a smoke screen for a bigger name to come in . Clutch at those straws mate!
Scottydog67 Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 I hope this mess gets sorted sooner rather than later, hopefully it is all a ploy to get MoN ??
trousers Posted 9 September, 2010 Posted 9 September, 2010 Adkins may well think twice over coming even if Cortese backs down and agrees to pay the compensation. Adkins will wonder what calibre of Chairman will he be working for. This. Up until today I was in the "I'm prepared to give Cortese the benefit of the doubt" camp but my allegence is being severely tested at the moment....
