Crikey! Did you hear that excerpt of Adkins on Solent this morning? The bloke can't even speak grammatically correct English on this evidence.

I think he was in the middle of an extremely tricky situation and had to some how keep both parties happy hence the repetition without saying too much.

I thought he handled himself ok in view of the circumstances.

I'm not too keen on the 3rd person statements and hope that goes from his interviews as people will latch onto that and use it as a stick to beat him, but I think nerves and the awkward situation contributed to that.

No but I listened to the whole interview he gave to Radio Humberside, which I presume Solent took an excerpt from. And in spite of having been up most of the night, then taking a full normal day's training at Scunny and I imagine being in a complete emotional turmoil, I think 'it is fair to say that Nigel Adkins' came over as both intelligent and moral.

He has got several diplomas and a business degree you know ... which he took whilst he was working I think. You can knock the signficance of that but I suspect he's a bit brighter than most football people.

Lets all stay calm

If Eddie Howe turned us down its only because he thinks he could get a club in a higher division at some point.

If the NA deal falls through we will get someone else. If he does not want to come or they cant reach an agreement we just move on to the next candidate.

Who can say who would have been the best choice its just a matter of opinion

In a couple who will remember or who will care who was interviewed for the job except the Hoddlites or Keeganistas

This whole saga is a frickin embarrassment. For Pardew to be sacked without another manager lined up just seems totally idiotic. Now we're scrabbling around for people as ****e as Eddie Howe... /facepalm

Parses being sacked without anyone lined up shows it wasn't planned and Cortese had no choice!

I agree. Regardless of opinion on him, he seems to have a plan in everything he does. If a planned sacking, I think he'd have had someone lined up. As it is, I think Pardew was insecure in the position, and NC perhaps had a few names in mind incase anything happened.

Events of the last few days would certainly point to that.

(Sarcasm, the lowest form of wit)

But dont forget he lives north of Watford. Whereas that Pardew fellow doesnt and he used to say things like 'them players' rather than 'those players'. Oh the shame..

What if he had to sack him? How often are new managers already lined up when people are sacked?

And Eddie Howe isn't ****e. He also clearly wasn't first choice, and I don't believe for a second he even got the chance to turn the job down.

My view on Howe FWIW - he took himself out of the running after he was interviewed - not after he was offered the job.

Runaway, this is based on what?

I've looked at this whole situation like this; if we are to believe that there have been 30+ applications for the job, there has to be at least a paper sift, then the people that are left are invited to interview. Given the responsibilites of a first team manager these interviews aren't going to be like a speed-dating exercise, each one will be at least half a day for the interview and post interview evaluation.

Whilst all this is going on no one will make an offer to any of the applicants until all the interviews are concluded; only then will the successful applicant be offered the job.

According to the OS today "Southampton Football Club ("the Club") wishes to make clear that it is continuing its discussions with a number of potential candidates for the post of First Team Manager." Therefore we won't hear anything until these discussions are concluded. And in this regard I agree with the other statement in this piece, that "The Club has acted in an entirely professional manner and will continue to do so."

Everything else that has been bandied about is media conjecture and speculation.

Not forgetting that we didn't get permission to speak to Adkins until Tuesday this week (I believe)

Eddie's Chairman said that he was offered the job. Are you saying that one of them is lying?

Who knows. He may have been told he was not first choice. Whatever we say it's all speculation and Chairmen are very full of themselves so will always pander to the Fans and Media. All the quotes notice are coming from Chairmen not managers..

So do you also think that the Scunny chairman was spinning/lying? Is everyone telling lies except Cortese?

I think Scunny's chairman was way off the mark to be honest - when he concluded that he needed to speak with NA it kind of threw the other points he was making out of the window - especially as NA virtually told his chairman to keep quite as these things need to be discussed in private.

Why do you think Cortese is lying?

KEVIN KEEGAN NEW SAINTS MANAGER?

Great work from Cortese over the last few days, he has successfully created a smoke screen over Atkins to buy time to make the real appointment.

It is being reported in Guernsey that:

- Meola turned us down as we could not agree personal terms.

- MoN was interviewed and notified yesterday he had been unsuccessful.

- Keegan is still in Southampton thrashing out a deal. He will not be in charge tomorrow but will be at the game allegedly in the away end.

I am expecting a 2345 announcement, The Messiah is hot favourite with the bookies over here.

I think that bit discredits an already ridiculous post 100%. I assume this post is tongue in cheek
