Having been running the I told you so thread, I still think we should all bow and show our respect to Gammon Cheeks page 64 of the New Manager Gossip Thread. Whoever Mr 59 posts really is, he is now a fully paid up member of the no b**s actually was ITK club and is just about the only one in 3500+ posts who pretty much had it nailed.

A fish & chips lunch awaits before the Bournemouth game at Mike's near to Debenhams about 1:45 my friend (1:30 if you want a pint as well). Congrats, even if it doesn't actually happen.

(Oh, mines a pint of 6X Nico) cheers and good luck

The Howe thing was b*llocks, there is no way we offered him the job.

IMO we never withdrew the offer for Adkins.

Why the hell would he say he was offered the job for? He would just say he went for an interview but decided against it to stay a the cherries.

He didn't. Their Chairman said that. Howe goes for interview, Howe comes back not SFC manager. Chairman: Howe turns SFC down. Chairman and Howe: Both very popular with AFCB fans.

Simples.

You could be onto something but I am so confused over all this now I am not sure who is telling the truth and even if i know what the truth looks like anymore. I just do not understand why he had any reason to lie. Having said that it is only you pointing out it was their chairman and not Howe, which does change this slightly. We all know that chairman and fibbing bar stewards!

Lets hope its all sorted so he is installed as the manager before Saturday, or i fear for us at the County Ground.

I think we will win on Saturday with or without a manager, but on the other hand I am one of only a few that would not be impressed with Adkins becoming manager of SFC.

He didn't lie. He made a statement to the media. Very different.

Howe goes to interview comes back without the job. Simple to make a media statement out of that my friend, what is more it would actually be almost true.

He won't be in charge on Saturday even if he is in before the game , Wilkins will take charge unfortunately.

Why?

Other managers have joined teams the day before and taken charge straight away.

Redknapp at Spurs for example.

Not knowing one iota about a topic doesn't seem to stop people posting and 'informed' opinion on that subject though does it.

There are threads and threads and threads on this topic calling our chairman, club a shambles, a tosser, ******s etc and taking everybodies word against ours.

Presumably everyone on here believes every single thing said on press releases from the Taliban too then.

Interesting the posters who actually spoke to NC in person implied that

a. he had to sack AP (which seems to fit in from the way it happened)

b. most of the managers interviewed are fit for purpose (which most posters seem to think)

Not everybody, some of us actually support the Saints.

NC is probably using his business head in this situation. He has no doubt offered less that what S****horpe feel Adkins is worth. Now as it stands S****horpe have a manager who is "dreaming" about becoming a manager of another club. As much as he seems a decent guy his head cannot be 100% foccussed as it prehaps was before. He is only human. I know if I had the chance to better myself but my employer and my potential new employer couldnt agree terms of my release then my head would be all over the place. So do S****horpe take what NC is offering or be left with a manager who wishes he was somewhere else? My gut feeling is that they will meet halfway on the compensation amount meaning NC has saved x amount but using his skills of negotiation.

Love him or hate him, when Redknapp singles out a relatively low profile manager for praise then you know he's got something.

I'm actually beginning to think that we'd be losing out on a great catch if Adkins doesn't join us now.

You would have to give credit to HR I think for knowing what he is talking about.

Think we need to get the Adkins deal sewn up.

I hate this swearfilter...

Nigel Adkins is expected to take charge of first-team training at S****horpe on Friday morning, even as negotiations were due to continue over him becoming Southampton manager.

Adkins and assistant Andy Crosby were asked to take charge at St Mary's Stadium on Wednesday night, they agreed but the two clubs had yet to agree a compensation fee.

Adkins, who has been in charge at Glanford Park since November 2006, has made it clear he wants to go to the South Coast but will not leave until the Iron are happy with their financial compensation.

The Iron host Bristol City in a Championship game on Saturday, and Adkins will be in the home dugout unless an agreement is reached. Ian Baraclough, S****horpe's first-team coach, is expected to be made caretaker manager should Adkins and Crosby depart before the game.

Steve Wharton, the Iron chairman, criticised Southampton's pursuit of Adkins on Thursday morning, words which will not have helped his chances of getting a large fee out of his Saints counterpart Nicola Cortese.

Adkins countered Wharton's comments, praising the behaviour of both clubs.

"Southampton approached S****horpe, they gave me permission to speak to Southampton and I have done that," he said.

"I have done things as professionally as I can, unfortunately one or two comments got out into the media but negotiations need to be private and confidential. Everything has been done in exemplary fashion by both parties.

"If Nigel Adkins leaves S****horpe United it should be done in the right manner and the two clubs should be able to agree compensation. Compensation has not been agreed as it stands, negotiations were going on into the very small hours late on Wednesday night.

"One of the scenarios that could happen is that the manager has the option to resign [to force a move]. That is against my principles so that is not even being considered."

Bournemouth claimed their manager, Eddie Howe, turned down the position on Thursday - possibly in the period earlier in the day where negotiations between the Saints and S****horpe appeared to have broken down.

Surely we can't really be stalling over as little as £50k? There must be more to it than that.

Let's face it if we playing against a team this wekend who'd just got a new manager we'd expect the worst. "Opposition's new managers always galvanise even previously duff teams into playing out of their skins to impress new man" is one of the immutable laws of being a Saints fan.

IF it works for us too, wouldn't it be worth £50k to 'buy' a win at Swindon?

Far too many people in this country take what's written in the pages of newspapers and magazines as the gospel truth. Indeed the way rumours from here seem to go out and come back again from other "sources" days later, leads me to believe that the same is true about what is written on here, often in jest.

It's true that Cortese seem to have a weak spot where PR is concerned, and that some if his decisions that we know about seem to have mis-fired, such as the season ticket issue and the photographer stance. However this does not mean that we need to jump to the conclusion that he is some sort of megalomaniac and thus that everything other people say about him is true. As others have said, if you look at the way saints have conducted their negotiations for players and coaches since he took over, they have all followed pretty much the same pattern. Lots of rumours by supposed ITK sorts on here, rumours in the press, but on the whole nothing definite until it's posted on the OS. Rumours that have come out seem to have been from the other side as is the case with Nigel Adkins and Scunny.

This leads me to believe that NC is attempting to do things in a professional and businesslike manner. Admittedly how he and many other successful businessmen go about being successful may not be everyones cup of tea, but that's business.

I'm sad Pardew has gone but doesn't anyone else think it's strange that if he felt he was treated wrongly by NC, he would have said something about it by now? I know that He may have been offered money to keep shtum, but he doesn't strike me as the kind of bloke to need money enough to keep quiet if he felt he had been wronged.

On the subject of NA, he seems like a good young up and coming manager. My only issue is how the players will react. Many came here, some dropping a division, because of our ambition. This ambition was reinforced by the fact that we had a manager that had won promotion to the premier league once already, taking his team to within seconds of an FA Cup victory. I am sure this helped sway some players to sign. With NA itnis all about promise and I'm not sure this will cut it straight away.

Crikey! Did you hear that excerpt of Adkins on Solent this morning? The bloke can't even speak grammatically correct English on this evidence.

Crikey! Did you here Sir Alex being interviewed the other week? Mumbled in such a strong accent that nobody outside of Scotland can understand a word he says. He refuses to talk to some of the media, is he a neo Nazi Facist?

Crikey! Did you hear Fabio Capello being interviewed when he was being lined up for the England job? The Buffoon could not even speak OUR language
