NEW SAINTS MANAGER – KEVIN KEEGAN?

What a smoke screen from Cortese, unbelievable day – my cousin who works at Southampton Airport has just texted me to say Kevin Keegan is in Costa coffee there. Seems to me there could be another twist on its way. I note his odds have dropped massively, I can see this being King Kev in the hot seat with Shearer as his number two.

I find that very hard to believe - a Geordie in Costa Coffee when they could be in the Bar.

As per my previous posts on the subject, Adkins (nor MoN) was not to be the new man.

It is dangerous to believe all of what you read in the press.

Expect a familiar face to be unveiled.

You think that 2 days on the training pitch , getting to know the players and go through some routines, is worse than having a new man in place our squad turning up to training expecting to meet the new man only to be told 'He doesn't want to meet you yet he thinks saying goodbye to his old team is more important'

I doubt he would make a massive difference, but any would be important. Again we dont know if this is truly the case but if so, a mistake.

I find it really quite funny that you believe this is true ha ha

As per my previous posts on the subject, I didn't know if Adkins (or MoN) was not to be the new man.

Uncertainty deepens over Nigel Adkins' future at S****horpe United

UNCERTAINTY surrounding the future of S****horpe United manager Nigel Adkins appeared to deepen at Glanford Park this afternoon.

After a meeting with his manager, club chairman Steve Wharton left the ground without wishing to make any comment on the record.

But, contrary to his earlier opinion, he did seem to suggest that the offer from Southampton might still be on the table for Adkins and his assistant Andy Crosby.

Wharton would say nothing on the record until after Adkins himself had spoken to the waiting media.

Adkins and Crosby have this lunchtime been involved in a head-to-head meeting which had lasted around an hour.

The chairman confirmed Adkins had been down to Southampton yesterday and had driven back up to S****horpe through the night.

He then took training this morning with the United players as they prepared for Saturday’s game against Bristol City.

So all the talk of NC withdrawing the offer was bull then. There's a surprise! I love the way ALL the media have picked it up to be gospel, made us out to look like complete goons, when it was just their chairman spouting off.

I, for one, am right behind NC on this one!

Lol it was their chairman being a goon

Still, nasty nick is a **** for something or another

As for those praising the loyalty of Adkins for staying with scunny..

Where was the loyalty when he was being interviewed at SMS

What a surprise and happening so soon after Cortese had to grovel to the press to mend fences with the media if some on here are to believed. Apparently we need them more than us. If relationships between the press and the club are restored, then this fiasco could have all been avoided instead of the media having egg all over their faces.

I think we best stop speculating,& do not believe anything that is not on the OS

At least if it appears on OUR OS, we know it's done and dusted.

Unlike some other clubs I could mention.

Loyalty is exactly what he's failed to show. Christ, he can say goodbye anytime! This is business. New job. Start now. We've got a game on sat FFS. THIS IS YOUR NEW CLUB! Act like it is man!

There is an awful lot of boll**ks written on this site.

Agreed. You wouldn't want our manager doing the same if he left us, remember Hoddle?

Phil Thompson hasn't taken the Assistant Manager's job at Villa.

Can only mean one thing.

He says that it was a wonderful offer, agonised for days, but he realised it was 12 hour days, away 5 nights a week to do the job properly and travelling all over Europe looking at players, just couldn't commit to it and it might ruin his family life, he just didn't want to do that.

Completely behind Cortese on this. I bet he is pulling his hair out with the way that some clubs can't keep their f**king mouths shut and just do a deal without playing it all out through the media. S****horpe have acted so unprofessionally throughout all this.

A little bit ashamed of some of our fans so quick to jump on the back of the club to be honest.

Yeah? Plenty more written by others. I just feel that the bloke should've stayed down here and started first thing. Woosie reason to go back home. Apparently he got 1 hours sleep last night. He woulda got more if he hadn't spent 5 hrs in the car back home.

Ever think about his family?

See, personally, I don't give two hoots that Hoddle didn't say goodbye or whatever. Obviously some are still smarting over it.

What about his family exactly? It's not like he was in outer mongolia is it?

To discuss it with them, about moving from one end of the country to another.

His family are settled there, his kids at school.

Think about it.

Do we know for definite that he has been offered the job?

When do we know anything for definite these days?

Looks likely though.

Oh for gods sake. He's in football. A footballer, and any footballing staff move around the country all the time. Think about that. That's the life of a footballer/coach/manager/scout/whatever. I think he would've discussed it with his family before the interview or else what's the point?

But thats the thing, he doesn't, yes he goes to away games faily often, but he has been working for that club for the best part of a decade.

From S****horpe Telegraph at 16:15 today

http://www.thisiss****horpe.co.uk/sport/Nigel-Adkins-installed-Southampton-weekend/article-2626577-detail/article.html

"Nigel Adkins likely to be leaving S****horpe United

NIGEL Adkins is finally close to being installed as Southampton's new manager.

Tomorrow is expected to be the 45-year-old's final day in charge of the club.

The Iron boss told a press conference this afternoon that he remains in discussions with the League One club.

Adkins said he will not resign from his role at United - but hopes that the two clubs are close to agreeing a compensation package.

And while he is still expected to be at Glanford Park tomorrow, he does not know where he will be come Saturday - at the Iron's game with Bristol City, or Swindon, where Southampton are in action."

BBC Radio Humberside also reporting clubs still talking on compensation.

But the OS states

"Southampton Football Club ("the Club") wishes to make clear that it is continuing its discussions with a number of potential candidates for the post of First Team Manager".

Is it possible that because Saints asked and were granted permision to talk to Adkins, he and Scunny have assumed that the job is his when in truth nothing has been decided yet.

Just a thought.
