S-Clarke Posted 12 September, 2010 Posted 12 September, 2010 I for one will give him 100% support. I suspect some on here will struggle with that, but that's football. +1. Well said.
del boy Posted 12 September, 2010 Posted 12 September, 2010 I for one will give him 100% support. I suspect some on here will struggle with that No, I can live with you giving 100% ... in fact I'll do the same. So its just the two of us then probably.
huggleman Posted 12 September, 2010 Posted 12 September, 2010 And why did WGS leave again??? IIRC his wife was ill, the dreaded C word I think but he decided to step down to help her through it
saint_mears Posted 12 September, 2010 Posted 12 September, 2010 And why did WGS leave again??? He realised that following the sale of bridge and withdrawal of meaningful funds he was heading into another *coventry situation. *Coventry having sold their best players where eventually relegated.
Red Posted 12 September, 2010 Posted 12 September, 2010 Scene at NC’s office Monday 8am : NC: Miss Money Pound do you like my new large Italian flag? MP: Yes Nicky it looks just great on the wall above you – no one could possibly miss it! NC: And Money, please show that idiot ..... I mean Wilkins in, grazie. NC: Ah Simplekins, mattina. How was your weekend? DW: Very good thank you God Father, I mean Mr. Cortese Sir, I mean Sir Cortese, no no I mean Lord Cortese ... I think? NC: buono, buono. Actually mine was merda, grande merda!!! DW: Oh really what happened? NC: Never mind that I have MON waiting in reception, so I will get to the point – YOU ARE FIRED!!! DW: But but but, sorry I don’t mean your backside – but I did everything you asked of me?? NC: che cosa (what the ****)? DW: Well you asked me to keep a clean sheet and show some goals, and I did that in all three games. NC: stupido!!!! Even a football virgin like me knows you have to keep a clean sheet for your team and score against the other team ! DW: Well for a Swiss you certainly weren’t precision enough in your instructions! I think I have a good case for unfair dismissal NC: Buono, sue me in the Swiss courts, now vaffanculo ciao !
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 12 September, 2010 Posted 12 September, 2010 My opinion: If the above is true, then Adkins will be announced as manager tomorrow and take training tomorrow. Either compensation has been agreed or he's resigned. It benefits neither club to be in limbo so I suggest the former. Making an announcement today serves no purpose (other than to cool the keyboards of some of the numpties on here). I for one will give him 100% support. I suspect some on here will struggle with that, but that's football. Agreed. We're so close to the deadline NA himself has set that when the announcement comes is irrelevant. As long as the deal has been done and he's happy to take over, that's all that matters. Going to be interesting to see which training ground he's at tomorrow morning, if there is no news though!
Flyer Posted 12 September, 2010 Posted 12 September, 2010 Strachan was a winner with Saints in the past and he could be a winner again ! He looked a broken man yesterday, spend the last half hour of the game sat on the dugout wall not saying a word.
Fitzhugh Fella Posted 12 September, 2010 Posted 12 September, 2010 him and Cortese appear to have dealt with this properly and with some professionalism Pravda journalism at its finest
Professor Posted 12 September, 2010 Posted 12 September, 2010 him and Cortese appear to have dealt with this properly and with some professionalism A very helpful contribution. Few others could have expressed our gratude to our dear leader with such clarity.
Topcat Posted 12 September, 2010 Posted 12 September, 2010 him and Cortese appear to have dealt with this properly and with some professionalism Winner of the order of the brown nose.
The Rover Posted 12 September, 2010 Posted 12 September, 2010 Sorry FF but that seems to be a bit below the belt. Are you suggesting that the meeting report is a fabrication?

He was with someone I didn't recognise, possibly the assistant guy. I expect him to be announced sometime tomorrow now.
NickG Posted 12 September, 2010 Posted 12 September, 2010 what have either of them done wrong? Apart from the made up rumours?

Alain Perrin Posted 12 September, 2010 Posted 12 September, 2010 Pravda journalism at its finest I'm not sure that, as historians go, you're clear of Pravda-esque revisionism... but FWIW, other than a) having a replacement pre-appointed or b) coughing up more compensation, Cortese could have done much more. That's based on what's in the public domain -the rest is based on rumour, conjecture and grinding axes.
Professor Posted 12 September, 2010 Posted 12 September, 2010 what have either of them done wrong? Apart from the made up rumours? Its necessary to know the true reasons for the sacking of AP/WD/SM in order to know whether Cortese has acted professionally or not. The bland statement on the OS was not a proper explanation. If the sacking was in prospect for weeks or months it should have been done in the summer and if it was not in prospect then the OS statement is questionable. Adkins appears to have done nothing wrong, but that does not mean that Saints fans should fall down in gratitude to him for taking the job, because many people are underwhelmed when there may have been stronger candidates available. Until Adkins has proved himself and Cortese has won back some of the trust of Saints fans which he has lost, its best not to be too obsequious in case things all go wrong.
Wade Garrett Posted 12 September, 2010 Posted 12 September, 2010 Just had a text saying Adkins starts tomorrow.
manji Posted 12 September, 2010 Posted 12 September, 2010 Pravda journalism at its finest pretty good coming from you ! Comrade with an agenda.
Badger Posted 12 September, 2010 Posted 12 September, 2010 Just had a text saying Adkins starts tomorrow. This text is from who?
Wade Garrett Posted 12 September, 2010 Posted 12 September, 2010 This text is from who? I'm not trying to look like some smug ITK (you know who I'm talking about). I just got a text and put it up on here. Might be true, probably is, but might not. It didn't come from Cortese so who know.
Dr Who? Posted 12 September, 2010 Posted 12 September, 2010 Strachan has only won 11 of 40 at Boro and their forums want him sacked! They think he'll resign before Tuesday's game.... I would love it if he came back, but who knows if it would work here again? Completely different the last time he was here. But WGS main thing is fitness and that is what we seem to missing at the moment. Along with quite a few other things really!

Which part of From the questions thread The decision to sack AP was sudden and unavoidable. For legal reasons, he was prevented from providing any details – “we would end up in an Employment Tribunal”. Do you not understand Prof? Surely if Saints have a legal issue that makes it not possible for them to elaborate then it is up to AP to break the silence, or for the club to potentially ruin his career and be forced into paying out possibly years of lost earnings to the detriment of investing in the team. The OS did SAY non-footballing reasons. Many just decided to ignore that. If people think it is really really important then perhaps they could initiate a court case to force a disclosure?
Dr Who? Posted 12 September, 2010 Posted 12 September, 2010 Can you honestly see Strachan getting on with Cortese. I think it would be pretty hard for anyone to get on with him, but he lasted longer under RL than AP lasted under NC. Long enough to get us back on course for the 5 year plan!
John McAndrew Posted 12 September, 2010 Posted 12 September, 2010 the echo are saying h has signed a 3 year deal
